About Renee

We are a family of 4 and this is our second mountain vacation rental. We love spending time in the mountains and sharing our spaces with others. The bridge in the picture leads to our favorite family walk in Fairplay. We are both in customer service (Greg works in cable and Renee is a realtor) and like providing a great experience for our mountain guests.

Renee purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Renee chose South Central

We stumbled across this cabin one day on our way through town. It looked interesting from the outside, but we fell in love with it when we walked in. The previous owners updated the cabin making it beautiful, comfortable, and cozy. We were so sad to leave that we decided to buy it right then.

What makes this cabin unique

We really like the craftsmanship of the log cabin. It was built in 1932 and updated in a way that makes it very functional, but still feels original. Reclaimed wood was used where the ceilings were replaced, the ceiling was opened up to the roof line, and there is a jotul wood stove in the living room that is beautiful and very warm. We also liked that the cabin is in town and walkable to shops and restaurants and across the street from the coffee shop.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an amazing time and we had lots of fun. One of our favorite parts was the cabin. It was the best place we have ever stayed in. There was everything we needed and it was decorated nicely. The kids especially loved the loft. The saddest part was leaving! Thank you!

Romantic Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The space was perfect for my boyfriend and I to spend a romantic and quiet weekend away! Nice linens, cozy flannel sheets and bedding. Kitchen had everything we needed for basic snacks and meals. Very close to downtown Breckenridge, but far enough out to feel tucked into the woods, very quiet at night. Renee was great about replies and communication. We also accidentally locked ourself out at one point, and the owner contacted her cleaning person to unlock it for us right away.

The neighbors were friendly as well - our car got stuck in the snow twice (I recommend a car that can tackle snow if staying here), and two different neighbors helped push our car out on different occasions. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a quiet weekend away, but with tons of opportunity for adventure!

Cute and cozy

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great, we enjoyed every bit of it. It is conveniently located 30-35 mins from Breckenridge so the drive was not too bad. The shower only had warm water but the bathroom does have a heater option so that helped. There is a huge air vent on the floor so walking on it to get to one of the rooms was quite weird. Everything else was great.

Owner's Response: We are happy the guest enjoyed staying at the cabin and liked the location. This is the first time we have heard that the shower is warm and have never experienced that issue ourselves. We will definitely have that checked out to make sure the water heater is turned high enough. We really appreciate when guests call us if they have any issues so we can take care of it during their stay.

I stayed up with my boyfriend for his 30th birthday and it was a big hit with the birthday boy! Perfect for a quiet and relaxing getaway! Super close to Breckenridge - with NO traffic! Loved it!

Awesome cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin and the owner are awesome. It has a nice washer and dryer and Dish TV and wireless internet. The owner had the thermostat set at 85 when we arrived on a cold day skiing and that helped in recovery. The small town has a lot to offer. Can't say enough on how much I liked the cabin. Thanks, Mark
