About Mike

My wife and I manage the property ourselves and take great pride in the home. It is our goal to be not only the best equipped vacation home you have every rented but also the cleanest.

Mike purchased this house in 2008

Why Mike chose Northern Coast

Location, Location, Location......! We are built directly on the beach. Off the back deck and down 4 steps of the private beach access and your standing on the sand. Unlike many homes that use the term 'Oceanfront' simply because there is not another home between them and the ocean regardless of how far away it is (or if you can even see the ocean), our home is truly 'Right On The Sand'

What makes this house unique

In Oregon homes are usually built back from the 100 yards or more as was this home. In 2003 because of damage to a jetty near us, serious erosion started to occur and nearly 100 yards of land was lost bringing the ocean almost to our door. Today the jetty has been repaired, and our home sits directly on a 7 mile long pristine sandy beach with panoramic views of surf and sand. 'You Will Not Find Another Home Closer To The Surf In Oregon'

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us use your lovely home. We really enjoyed falling asleep listening to the ocean. The views are unmatched and with no stairs to the beach even my even my 93 year old mother was able to enjoy some quality time on the beach.

Rockaway Beach Oregon: Located 90 miles west of Portland Oregon and was one of

the first vacation hot spots on the Oregon Coast. Founded in 1920, long before the

roads were completed families came by train each summer to enjoy the beach. Today

Rockaway Beach is still a favorite vacation destination because of it's natural beauty and

steam train's only job is to provide tourists with scenic views of forested mountains that

slope into the Ocean and the dramatic rock formations just off shore.~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Town: Downtown Rockaway Beach looks and feels like a classic beach town from
decades gone by. More than a dozen restaurants are mixed in with the antique, gift,
candy, souvenir and other shops line the streets. No traffic, no stop lights, no casinos
and even in peak summer Rockaway never feels crowded. During the winter months the
town's biggest attraction (the ocean) becomes even more spectacular making it the
preferred time of year to visit for people that are into storm watching.~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Beach: Rockaway Beach has seven miles of pristine white-sand beaches that
are open to the public and are never crowed. Visitors come to Rockaway to enjoy a
number of beach activities, including; beach combing, kite flying, boarding, sun bathing,
surf fishing, bird-watching and more. (140 bird species have been identified in the
Rockaway Beach area). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad: The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (OSCAR.net) the antique

steam engine pulls trains for scenic trips between the towns of Garibaldi and Rockaway during

the summer months. Dinner trains also are available from Garibaldi a few times per year.~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fishing and Whale Watching: The Oregon Coast has seen a boom in recreational fishing in
recent years and numerous charter fishing boats are available. Crabbing from the public dock or
rental boat are both popular as well as fresh water fishing in one of the area's 7 rivers and many
lakes. If fishing is not your thing consider a whale watching charter boat for up-close viewing.
The whale migrations usually happen in late March and late December, and while they can be
viewed from shore, going out on a charter boat will get you even closer to the action.
Beautiful view and wonderfully maintained property
  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed October 6th and 7th and had a great time! The home is absolutely right on the sand, and the beach is quiet and peaceful. We were very impressed with all the care the owners took to stock the home with everything we needed. The dishes, glasses and silverware, pots and pans all looked new and matched nicely, the towels were clean and soft. We slept upstairs on a huge, comfortable bed. There were two others bedrooms downstairs that we didn’t use, but they looked as cute as the rest of the house. The light switches all had dimmers on them, the gas fireplace and bathroom fans and heaters all had timers on them. You can tell that the owners have spent time and money making sure everything is nice and up to date. We will definitely go back, and highly recommend this house.
Location. Location. Location.
Ideally situated right on the coast, this house served us perfectly for a family stay for a week this July. Whenever we were "home" --not hiking around the beautiful mountains or shoreline close by-- we kept the deckside doors completely open to the incredible views and breezes off the Pacific. No need to go anywhere else to enjoy the marvelous sunsets, either. Awesome choice for a real ocean getaway!
Awesome house
  • 5 of 5
This house was amazing, the double doors that open up to the ocean really makes the house awesome. Rockaway beach is always nice because it's so low key, quite and very few people on the beach. The deck overlooking the ocean is way bigger than what the pictures show and is a nice to eat dinner on the picnic table. We will be using this house again for sure!
Just what the doctor ordered
  • 5 of 5
The home was way more then what we expected. Nice and cozy and just big enough for the six of us. The view from the living room and deck was absolutely amazing. We were extremely surprised how close to the water we were which was very convenient. The home was very well stocked with everything that you would need for a vacation. Huge gas fireplace in the living room and a warm water foot wash off the side of the house which we used quite often coming back from the beach. Great location especially if you're looking to cruise into Seaside or Astoria for the afternoon. Great communication with the owner, he seemed like a genuinely nice person. We definitely look forward to visiting this home again.
I had big expectations coming in, and it did not disappoint!
  • 5 of 5
We stayed here late February, and it was pretty much rainy the entire time of our trip. But having this place to come back to made all that not matter. Besides, listening to the rain and being around it was wonderful too. We took many walks on the beach, rain or shine and still had a great time. This is easy considering the beach house has a sweet back yard: The BEACH & OCEAN!
This house is in great shape, location is phenomenal, view is fantastic, vicinity to Rockaway Beach (and really all the little towns along the coast there) was easy and convenient.
The owner was responsive and even called and left us a message to tell us we could check in early if we desired. (which we did) I really can't say much more about him as we had absolutely no issues!
Just an all around very reasonably priced, beautiful beach house in a very special part of the world!
I'm jealous and I want to own it!!!
