1900 Sq Ft, 3BR/3BA & 2 Bed Loft. At The End Of A Cul De Sac, Gorgeous View.

It's a wonderful place to sit on the deck and watch the stars spinning in infinity, or hike right from the driveway down into the Stanislaus Forest, undisturbed by anything except the wind.

About 10 minutes away from Pinecrest Lake, our 'cabin' is really an open, bright 1900 sq ft home, with all the comforts:

Three bedrooms (two upstairs, one downstairs), and a loft with two single beds

Large outdoor deck with a view into the forest

Three bathrooms, instant-on hot water

Full kitchen (gas stove, electric oven), pots/pans, dishwasher, microwave, coffee makers - drip and Keurig, rice maker, muffin tins, blender, ice cream maker & more...

High-efficiency double pane windows, skylights, vaulted ceiling

Central heating and air, Jøtul wood burning stove in living room

Large plasma TV with 7.1 surround sound, DVD player, antenna with local broadcast TV

Our home is in the Cold Springs area (in Tuolumne county - not the Cold Springs near Placerville), in the 'Peter Pam' (sic) subdivision. That puts it about 5-10 minutes from Strawberry and Pinecrest lake. Elevation is about 5600 feet.

After a few years at the Lair of the Bear, we realized we wanted more time in such a gorgeous area. We patiently waited for a comfortable, family friendly home to become available - and couldn't believe our luck to find this home.

The previous owner lived here most of the year and took meticulous care of it.

What makes this house unique

There are plenty of places to rent in the area, but our home will immediately impress you with its open, bright, welcome. We've tried to make it as comfortable as possible for guests (and owners).

Notes:
Our renters take out all garbage to the nearby Pinecrest Transfer Station (near Strawberry) or to Waste Management in Sonora, open weekdays. We don't have garbage pickup because the cabin is unpredictably unoccupied for periods.

Make sure you take pictures of all the pre existing damaged items or prepare to loose your deposit

We enjoyed staying in the place during Thanksgiving holidays. The place is very close to Dodge Ridge ski resort and Pinecrest lake. It has accommodation for 10 people. We really liked the kitchen and living room where we spent most of our time when we were inside the house.

The owner was very cordial until we had disagreement over the security deposit refund. We were charged $200 for 4 things: 1. Broken gravel on the stairways which came out on the first night we reached as it was already loose 2. Chipped dishes which we found in same condition when we checked in 3. Double fee for the cleaning (Though we left the house in almost the same condition as we found it) 4. Blending spice in a very outdated grinder. We notified the owner about our dissatisfaction over the charge and requested a break down of the charge which we never received. We think it is a charge that has been imposed upon us for no reason. We normally stay in different vacation homes once every year and we have to say that this kind of charge is a big surprise for us. Even if the damage was legitimate, the amount $200 is not justified.

Unfortunately if you find yourself in same situation as ours, there isn't much you can do other than expressing your frustration in review like this. It is not the money factor that made us so mad. It was the prejudiced mind set of the owner and the cleaners that blew our heads off. One piece of advice is to spend the first couple of minutes to make sure you take photos of all the damages you see. Wishing best of luck to future renters!

Owner's Response: We've never held anyone's deposit until this visit. How would you, if it were your home, react to inviting guests and find: This family broke off the grout from the stairs and piled it up next to the stairs, at first denying it and then admitting they'd done it. (Who else could've been responsible?) They chipped multiple dishes that we must now replace - as well as using the antique china clearly labelled "Heirloom, please do not use." This lack of respect was astonishing. They entered the closet clearly labelled "Owners Closet - do not use" (again, showing no respect for our home) and then complained to find a closet that had personal items in it. The coffee grinder for all our guests was ruined when they used it for spices instead, and must be replaced. Their response: "nowhere it was stated that we cannot use it for any other purpose." Dan personally cleaned the entire two story home for them, and knew exactly the condition it was in when they arrived (early - with our permission). We were surprised when, after they left, our cleaning person said they had left such a mess and sent corroborating photos. In fact, this is the one and only time in the years we've worked together that she had to stay through into the evening and then into the next morning to clean. We had to pay her for two days of cleaning, to be fair to her. A claim of "prejudice" is nonsensical, childish, and a distraction. We treat our guests like adults and expect them to behave similarly. See our previous renters' reviews and judge for yourself.

Perfect family home away from home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this family home. We had a big family and there was enough room and space for all of us. House was very clean and had everything we needed and more. Loved how everything was labeled in the kitchen. Made finding things easier than having to open each cabinet and drawer to find the items. We will definitely keep this place in mind next time we are in California!

Couldn't have had a more wonderful vacation!

My family and I loved our summer vacation at this wonderful cabin on Bambi Lane! The house is large and filled with sunshine, the furnishings are lovely and modern, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the entire home is beautifully maintained. From the towels in the bathrooms to the linen on the beds, everything felt fresh and luxurious. Whether in the early morning sitting on the deck and marveling at the peace and quiet, or in the evening gazing at the myriad of stars, this cabin truly felt like a home away from home.

In addition to all the amenities, the cabin being located only minutes away from beautiful Pinecrest Lake (where we spent our days) and some wonderful restaurants which were top quality, added tremendously to our enjoyment. There is no doubt in my mind that visiting this cabin on Bambi Lane next summer will be a top priority.

Great winter getaway house

Lovely spacious house that is so well organized and equipped that it made our ski vacation so easy and comfortable. Beautiful view off the deck. Convenient to skiing and other winter sports. Trail next to property was a bonus. Wonderful restaurant nearby. We ate there twice! Cleaning crew were friendly and helpful.
