This cabin was built in 1964 for the family of Ed Ransom. There was once a run at Homewood named after Ed and for the family and friends, that run still belongs to Ed. When you come to say, you will see photos of Ed and his offspring, and their offspring and you may understand Ed's vision. The family continues to make history and hopes that you too will enjoy that privilege (and leave a message to that effect in the visitors book).

Without question, this is my favorite part of Lake Tahoe!
Like me, you will want to come back here, season after season.
This was a wonderful experience for me and my family. It was so close to the ski slopes that we could sleep in until after 8am and still have plenty of time for skiing. The cabin is large, 3 bedrooms, with a full size kitchen and dining room. There was tons of room for my wife, me, and our 4 kids. We cooked meals before the trip, then just warmed up dinner each night in the cabin. After dinner we sat around the fireplace playing games and doing puzzles. If you want to be connected with wifi and explore all of the west and south shores of Lake Tahoe, this cabin will let you do that. If you just want a quiet, unplugged, ski getaway like we did, this cabin does that too. If you have 4 kids, you'll understand how expensive travel is in a big group. We coupled the cabin with Homewood's 3-day beginner's ski courses to put together a 5 day/4 night reasonable vacation where everybody learned to ski.
If you want to get takeout pizza, Front Street Pizza in Tahoe City is incredible. Get the Thai Chicken.
After skiing, walk across the street from Homewood to the West Shore Cafe for happy hour. They have free s'mores on the back patio for the kids.
The property was clean and very well maintained, it has everything you need.
The owner provided great customer service.
I recommend this property to friends and relatives, I plan to take my brother and his wife with us when we go back next year.
The listing description was accurate regarding the location, layout, and amenities.
Had an amazing birthday weekend stay at this lovely fully equipped A-frame cabin walking distance to Homewood's south lodge. With perfect powder conditions and an epic run on Gilberts Gulch, I am reminded why I love this location so much!
Homewood and the west shore of Tahoe has something for everyone in each of the 4 seasons. The cabin provides the perfect summer getaway with tennis, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding etc for those who like an action packed vacation, or comfortable lounging in the shade and lazing on the beach for those who just need R&R. It's all right there!
Same applies in the winter. The skiiers and boarders are minutes away from the little local family resort with incredible views of the lake...beer and sausages while you rest between runs. It doesn't get much better...unless you prefer more of a challenge, in which case there are the internationally acclaimed resorts within 30 minutes..Squaw Valley, Northstar and Alpine or Heavenly within an hour or so.
This is a wonderful cabin to come home to after an enervating day out, or to just stay in and watch movies, play games and enjoy the fire.
