About Amy Newman

I moved to Ithaca 14 years ago and love it. There's so much to do nearby, and yet it's a very peaceful place. I graduated from Cornell in the 1980s and always wanted to move back here. I'm a senior lecturer at Cornell.

Amy Newman purchased this house in 2002

Why Amy Newman chose Cayuga Lake

I fell in love with the house when I bought it. It's a solid, mission house but feels modern, especially with the backroom addition that faces the view. You can see the lake or Cornell from almost every room in the house.

Great large house

  • 4 of 5

Great stay, Amy is always in touch right away. The house comes with all you could possibly need from coffee and spices to cards and games. It is conveniently located to get to most places. It is much larger than the pictures. There is a lot of road traffic noise though. But overall a great place to stay with a large group.

Wonderful Ithaca Vacation House!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in July 2017. The house is in great condition and was perfect for two families (4 adults, 4 children). It's very close and convenient to downtown, and the views of Cayuga Lake and Cornell are amazing. And the owner was great with communications and answering questions. Definitely recommended.

A beautiful home with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

My college roommates and I rented this home for our 10 year reunion. We had everything we could need in the house and the owner was very responsive to any questions. Best of all, the porch had a full view of Cornell, making it the perfect location to gather and reminisce about old times.

Spacious House with Beautiful Views of Cayuga and Cornel

  • 5 of 5

Six of us stayed at this house to do some biking in the area. The house is a lot bigger than it looks in the pictures and has plenty of room for a large group of people. The house has a good layout. In the front there is a living room with TV and large dinning room then you walk thru the kitchen to another large room with floor to ceiling windows and views of the lake. This room has a table to eat at on one end then a couple couches and the drum kit on the other end. We spent most of our time in this room and on the attached porch taking in the views out back. There are 3 bedroom on the second floor, one in the attic and one, in the basement. All are large and very comfortable. There is also large room in the basement with ping pong table that we used to store our bikes.

The house was very clean and well stocked so you don't need to bring anything extra to stay here. The house also had a lot of little amenities like a hot water dispenser, binoculars, telescope and of course the drum kit that added to the enjoyment of staying here.

Amy was a great host and quickly responded to any questions I had. She also was very flexible with checkin and check out times.

The house is on a main road out of Ithaca which makes it easy to get any were in the area quickly. There are a lot of cars going by in the day but traffic is very sparse at night so it didn't bother us sleeping.

All in all this is a great house that is a very comfortable place for a group of people to stay at. This is definitely a place I would come back to the next time I'm in the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you, bikers! It's funny that the house looks smaller in the photos -- not sure what to do about that. There is quite a lot of space to move around and either to be together or have some privacy.

Highly recommended!!!

  • 5 of 5

We are two small families that rented this lovely home for Cornell graduation. It couldn't have been more perfect: very clean (grandma is a clean freak and was very comfortable), open and spacious layout, view of the lake and Cornell, ping pong tournaments with the grads, well equipt kitchen, and HOT sauna. The photos don't do it justice.
