About the property

2 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps

This modern construction located on a cobled stone street features a garage, two bedrooms, 2.5 baths, living room and kitchen. Each bedroom has its full bath. The roof has a beautiful view and fire pit. There is

roof top table and chairs accessible via a spiral staircase to see the view of the mountains, sunset and the horses that roam land behind the first class De La Fe hospital, you can even see balloons lift off for tours of the city. The house is located on the hills where it will take you 20 minutes to walk to the center of the town but also you can easily get to large shopping areas not far from the house. It makes it easy to get around, either inside the city or around the city. The house is only minutes from the Institute Allende and is located just off the bus route for San Antonio. Luckily, the house is not too far from the Weber tennis court either.

The courtyard has a beautiful and growing orchid tree that the humming birds love to eat from, lie in the hammocks and watch them come and go!

The house has maid service and everything needed in the kitchen to prepare dinners and eat the either in the courtyard or on the roof. There are two hammocks on the outside deck to just relax and look at the sky and flora of the courtyard.

The house comes with a washer and dryer and cable TV. Its a place to relax and great place to come home to after exploring all that San Miguel has to offer.

A Simply Lovely Casa

  • 5 of 5

This house is very simply decorated and very serene and some days I just stayed at the house moving from room to room and patio to patio, enjoying the various spaces. The kitchen is small, lovely and open, and the cooking accoutrements are satisfactory. We made most meals here, and enjoyed them on the stools at the kitchen, outside on the patio table and up on the lovely terraza surrounded by huge lavender plants and an extensive view over the rooftops. It's a beautiful, peaceful spot, and the roosters and chickens crowing and cackling added to its charm.

We affectionately called it La Casa de Las Llaves because there were so many keys. We were only two here, and that left the second bedroom with desk open for me to paint (after covering the desktop with plastic). The house is on a steep hill, and the road is deeply cobbled and rutted, so it would be a problem for someone who had difficulty walking, but it always felt great entering from the street door because the whole space is a real respite. The neighbourhood is very working class Mexican, which we like, and I always felt safe. Nearby are tiendas to buy most things you need.

The house was very clean, thanks to Estella, and the gardens well-kept by Jose, both positive and happy people.

We have been coming to San Miguel for several years and this casa is the best value I've seen.

We would love to stay here again!

Not Perfect For Our Entertaining Needs

  • 3 of 5

The location of the home, while on a steep hill was convenient for getting to the SPA where I volunteer with the cats and an easy and mainly level walk of 20 minutes into El Centro. The outside space with two terraces and nice patio area was great. The house itself was fine but I was disappointed that there was not a full kitchen - no oven and very little counter space. The grill up on the rooftop terrace was not adequate for grilling out so we were somewhat limited in food preparation, until we figured out the convection/microwave oven by getting the English version of the directions from our computer. Additionally, there is no dining table in the home so we had to move the patio table back and forth to use, as it was too cold in the evenings to be outside. There was a nice breakfast bar area where we set up our computers and ate breakfast that would work for most people but we love to play board games and entertain friends and this home was not conducive to that. The maid was nice but speaks only Spanish and we speak un poco Spanish but managed fine. There was also a gardener and a "flow" of repair people, etc. that we could have done without but all pleasant and the maid handled the flow. We did have some issues with ants outdoors and spiders inside the home but all were handled. The 2 bedrooms and 2 baths were perfect for 2 couples, when my brother and his wife visited for a week and the owner was great to let us have our Golden Retriever and cat with us. The area that the home is in might not be the best but we had no issues and the neighbors were very nice and we felt safe walking during the day. Having the garage for our car was very helpful but a challenge to park on the hill so we mainly walked or caught the bus at the top of the hill into Centro and taxis were inexpensive and easy to get around in. There were tons of "mortar" fireworks and dogs and roosters during our time there but that is all a part of San Miguel. All in all, the home was great and most people would find it more than adequate for their needs, however, we have many friends in the area and like to entertain and cook and it was not perfect for our needs.

Excellent Place and Price For a Family Wanting Cultural Immersion, Extended Stay

  • 5 of 5

I wanted a place to rent for my 3 children (ages 11, 11, and 12) and myself to stay during summer break. We were there fo 6 weeks. We all felt very comfortable and safe here. The owner was very responsive to my emails before I committed to this property; I canNOT say this about other properties I contacted in San Miguel that were handled by Real Estate Companies who either never replied, or took 1-2 weeks to get an answer. Other places wanted to have a contract set up outside of VRBO which made me nervous; why book through VRBO only to pay with a private contract? Doesn't make sense to me as a renter, I didn't want to take a chance. Having contact with the helpful, cheerful owner is what made me decide that this was the place for us, and it worked out perfectly.

I also wanted an authentic neighborhood with real Mexican families living next door rather than other tourists, which is what the neighborhood of San Antonio offers. We wanted the ultimate cultural immersion. My daughter made friends with the neighbor girls playing in the evenings in the open garage area of our rental. We didn't rent a car as we walked or took the bus everywhere. Nothing better than "play" to bring out my kids' speaking/practicing their Spanish with them. We were only a 10-minute walk from the SPA shelter where my kids volunteered helping the dogs & cats.

The owner was kind enough to offer us a twin blow-up bed that one of our kids slept while dad was in town. The two bedrooms, each with a Queen sized bed, and their own bathroom w/shower worked very well for us. The first floor was the lovely front patio, kitchen, living area, and the second floor the 2 bedrooms. The third floor was a very nice rooftop patio. The home was newish, tastefully decorated in a modern minimal and beautiful way, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. We brought a Comcast plugin to watch Netflix on the flat screen tv.

We went into Central 3-5 times a week for Spanish lessons at the Biblioteca, yoga for me, ice cream, and dinner out. We often walked one way and returned by bus or taxi or vice versa to get our exercise in for the day. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk or take the bus to Central. It's a little further out from Central than I anticipated, but well worth the trade off for the price and quick excellent attn from the owners and their management co. who had to replace 2 modems for us because of 2 major rainstorms; then the internet worked great w/4 laptops going.

6 month stay , no regrets

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 6 months in this very comfortable home. The owner bent over backwards to accommodate us and our two large dogs....Estella the housekeeper was great , Nicholas and his family at the corner store could not have been nicer and spoke great minute walk to the bus , fifteen minute walk to the heart of San Miguel .

My wife did not want to leave...beware Rubin , local street urchin with great smile and always wanting money...comfortable furniture , lots of outdoor space in the courtyard , pretty flowers...what more can I say. Oh yeah , for San Antonio the price can not be beat , extremely competitively priced...rented it sight unseen and have no regrets!
