This delightful Lake Huron beachfront cottage is nestled in fragrant pines and towering hardwoods. Picture yourself relaxing on the lakefront deck, enjoying majestic views of Lake Huron, passing freighters, the Poe Reef Lighthouse, Bois Blanc Island, and on the clearest days, a lovely distant view of the Mackinac Bridge. The cottage main living area features a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfy seating area in both the main living room and adjacent lakefront enclosed porch. These seating areas feature views of Lake Huron The cottage also has a comfortable sunroom with wonderful views of the wooded setting. Upstairs, you will find a full bath with shower and tub, along with two spacious bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the other with a double bed and two twin beds. The lakeside bedroom features a relaxing balcony with amazing views of the lake.
The cottage is located in a quiet, wooded association, which has four parks, each with playground equipment, basketball hoops, and beach areas. Shallow swim areas and lots of great rock hunting (bring water shoes) can be found on beaches in the area, including the cottage beach, the four beaches in the cottage association parks, the beach in nearby Cheboygan State Park, and the beach at Gordon Turner Park, which is located near downtown Cheboygan, where the Cheboygan River meets Lake Huron. All beaches in the area are classic Lake Huron beaches whose width can vary from year to year, depending on wave and wind action. The roads in the association where the cottage is located are great for biking, walking, or jogging. The lively downtown area of the city of Cheboygan is but a quick 10 minute drive from the cottage. Mackinaw City, the bridge to the Upper Peninsula, and ferries to Mackinac Island are about 30 minutes away. Also in this area, you will find the famous 40 mile long Inland Waterway, which connects Burt Lake, the Indian River, Mullett Lake, the Cheboygan River, and Lake Huron. Many days of wonderful boating pleasure are possible here! It would be difficult to find a vacation area that offers more! So many activities are available here with so much water, forests, beaches, fishing, shipwreck diving, lighthouses, national historic sites, and a vast network of trails.
This was a very nice cottage, clean, and in a beautiful location. The beds were comfortable and falling asleep to the waves on Lake Huron was fantastic! It was also a convenient drive into Cheboygan. The couple that manage the property were fantastic with recommendations for dining and even called a few days prior to our stay to let us know that the weather was supposed to be less than ideal in the event we wanted to reschedule. We kept the reservation and were glad that we did.
This cottage is in an excellent location at the end of a quiet road and on a beautiful location on the beach. It had much more room than expected with lovely front and back glassed in porches, a large utility room with extra sleeping space, and a pullout for sleeping in the living room in addition to the two large bedrooms. It was well equipped with plenty of dishes, linens, etc. Our favorite area of course, was the beach which was right out the front door!! We spent plenty of time both on the deck area and down on the sandy beach and used the fire pit almost every night to roast s'mores! Our other favorite area was the balcony off of the second floor bedroom with stunning views of the lake - we had our coffee their every morning and we were able to see the sunrise just perfectly!! The location in the Cordwood subdivision is great as you can take long walks on the road/woods side as well as enjoy several public park spaces that have basketball/volleyball nets and a boat launch area. We will definitely be coming back again!! Thank you to the owners and to Bill and Peg for a wonderful week!
The cottage is within an hour's drive to popular tourist attractions and shopping in Cheboygan, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island.
