House with private frontporch and yard, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
- english, french
I am Paul and we thank you very much for visiting our homepage. I grew up between the USA and France. What a better place to be than Louisiana?
Paul. purchased this House in 1999
Why Paul. chose Marigny
New-Orleans is wonderful and a unique place for its history. Bourbon Street can be a lot of fun, no one there thinks moderation is a virtue ! But do you really want to stay there during your stay? We much prefer the authentic 'Faubourg Marigny', this is the real New-Orleans, with its little corner shops and our historic home is a nice, quiet retreat full of old charm, hidden by a tropical jungle-type private front-yard/ front porch.
What makes this House unique
The house stands in the middle of a friendly, progressive, quiet, family oriented and safe neighborhood. It is also close to the best attractions in town. Walking distance for groceries as well. Thanks to the lush front yard, its tropical plants, the cottage is also a nice secluded retreat providing complete privacy and a comforting sense of peace with its own 'mystique'.

We totally loved our stay ! This was a trip full of memories and relaxation. Could not be more pleased with our accommodations, location and all the help Paul provided us regarding the area. Could not have asked for more! Thanks Paul!
Can’t wait to come back!
We loved staying in this adorable home. It was charming and perfect for me and my family. The neighborhood was super accessible. So close to Frenchmen st and the French quarter. I would definitely stay here on my next trip.
Comfortable stay in a historic home
We had a comfortable stay at the creole cottage. It is a lovely historical home with old charm. It may not be ideal for travelers looking for modern amenities. Paul was very helpful and available if we needed anything during the stay. The key situation was a little tricky as there were only 2 sets and the gate had to be locked at all times. We mistakenly locked one of our guests inside the home and had to return back to open the gate. Would recommend a locking key box to remedy this.
These guests were supposed to be 4 : Sara, her parents + another person.
I have never seen the so called "parents", except on check-in day, then they simply vanished.
I could not keep up with how many people stayed at the house ( 6-8 or more ?, strangers ), constantly coming and going, not aware of house rules, which were clear.
Cigarettes butts all over the place.
NO CONSIDERATION OR RESPECT PERIOD.
The gate was NEVER LOCKED, wide open ( safety issues ) and so were the shutters and front door. ( night and day ).
1 set of key was lost by Sara. ( i have to change locks ).
She never apologized.
Neighbors called me and said that burglars could get inside at any time.
Guests left the house in a state like i have never seen before in 14 years.
My cleaning lady was in disbelief.
On check-out day, we were supposed to meet at 3pm.
Sara was already gone.
I will never rent my house to this woman.
Exceeded our expectations !
Paul made our vacation wonderful!
Wonderful Place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay here! The house is beautiful. Love all the art and southern charm. Had everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable. Very relaxing here. Walking distance to French Quarter and much more. Paul was very nice. Definitely will try to stay here again!
Another wonderful visit
This was our second time staying in this lovely home. We love the ambiance and charm of the house and also it’s great location. It is a true gem and represents everything we love about the city. We honestly wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else when we visit New Orleans. Thanks
Paul for sharing Caprice Cottage-hope to be back soon!
I am happy to know that you enjoyed your stay and thank you very much for the nice review. I hope to see you for your next visit to NOLA.
All best !
In the Faubourg Marigny, 2 minutes walking from the French Quarter & Frenchmen street/ best place for Jazz, music lovers. Quiet house, built 1803, hidden behind a tropical front yard.
We are also 4 blocks from the Faubourg Treme, the African-American Museum, Voodoo Temple, Backstreet Cultural Museum, Saint-Augustine Church and much more!
