About Megan and Ward

We are a family of four living in Boulder, CO. Ward and Megan are both Colorado transplants, with Ward hailing from Delaware and Megan from Minnesota. We both came out west for college (split household - one at CU and the other at CSU) and have both called CO home for more than 15 years. Living on the Front Range has its advantages, but we both desired to be in the mountains to better access the activities we enjoy - hiking, mountain biking, skiing, etc. Megan is a winter enthusiast and can't get enough cross-country skiing, and Ward loves being on the mountain whenever possible. We have two kids - our oldest is 6 and our youngest is 1 year old. We hoped to make this property a place we could visit and share with others, to give our kids the opportunity to enjoy the mountains.

Megan and Ward purchased this house in 2000

Why Megan and Ward chose Northwest

Ward bought this place about thirteen years ago and initially did a little work to bring it up to a more livable condition.

It was a super-kitschy 1970s kit cabin complete with heart-shaped cut-outs on the deck railings and the scroll on the eves. For the past several years we have dreamed about modernizing it to a more comfortable, family friendly mountain house where we could take our kids to XC ski, downhill ski, mountain bike, hike, and become more familiar with the outdoor and outdoor activities. Ward designed and constructed the entire renovation with help from some local Frisco carpenter friends. The house embodies what we love about being in the mountains - access to the outdoors and a comfortable place to congregate with friends and family.

What makes this house unique

We love the Town of Frisco, which is more than just a ski-town. It's a very livable community with friendly people and unparalleled access to mountain activities. The house captured the cabin kitsch charm that we love - we wanted to preserve that with the updates while making it more comfortable for families and friends to enjoy.

Great clean property. Very Spacious for our family of 5 and loved the location and mountain views. The owner was very accommodating when we decided to extend our stay. Will definitely be back.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have stayed here two years in a row and we intend to keep coming back. Property is close to everything you could want in Frisco. Mount Royal is right behind the cabin, hiking trails, bike trails, main street, lake Dillon, its all there! Great place for families! The kids love the chipmunks in the backyard.

Couples vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week with another couple. The house was very clean, everything we needed was provided aside from soap in the shower/bathtub. The mudroom is spacious, we were able to easily store 4 bicycles with plenty of room. The finishes in the bathrooms are high end, the appliances in the kitchen are high end. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for one week in this cabin and had a wonderful time. There were four adults and two children and we had plenty of room. Cabin is very comfortable, nicely decorated and well furnished including an awesome gas stove and incredible shower upstairs. View of Mt. Royal from the deck(s) are beautiful. Communication with the owner was very pleasant as well. We have nothing but good things to say about this cabin, and our stay in Summit County in general, and will most likely try to stay here again in the future. It was a very enjoyable stay to say the least.

Great for family!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed in this wonderfully remodeled cabin. We had an extended stay and really enjoyed the location, right off Main Street, And close to the bike path. Our two kids felt right at home in this cozy house. The mud room is what everyone needs and this house has double. You will have room for all your ski/snowboard equipment and coats too. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, from the chef's gas stove to the waterfall walk in shower upstairs and did not want to leave. The owners couldn't be nicer. You will have a great time in Frisco.
