We loved the place as soon as we entered it. Beautiful kitchen, great fireplace, and fantastic views of the ski hill and mountains. A very comfortable stay and nice alternative to staying in Ottawa.
A fantastic house,a lot of things to do,from golfing to site seeing and much much mire
A great trip!! The week just flyed by. Wonderful house a great people,
Thank you Cal & Eve!!
A really nice place to spend an awesome weekend !
Beautiful and relaxing!
We just loved her chalet as soon as we walked through the front door!! So adorable and quaint, cozy and warm decor, very clean, all the furniture was comfortable. We loved the rock fireplace and open cracking fire 🔥and the ski hill lit up at night, so romantic. Our only outting was a short drive to Wakefield, cute little town to get a few supplies. Other than that we relaxed in front of the fire the whole time, made our meals in her gorgeous kitchen. And went for walks. Evy was so wonderful and answered us asap on any questions we needed help with. It's very private, so if your looking for a few days to get away or longer this is the spot to book!! Thank you Evy :)
Beautiful and peaceful jewel.
We've just spent a terrific week in Cantley.
The scenery is amazing and we enjoyed every moment.
We made the most of the pool... (and the diving board), the fire camp, the fully equiped kitchen etc...
We would definitely come back. The rate is affordable and it was a wonderful opportunity for our family.
Calvin has been a very reactive and friendly owner.
Thank you again.
Poor condition and communication spoiled a charming place
Our family of 4 (2 boys 4 yrs and 15 mths) were really excited about staying at this place. The pictures were great and super close to the hill to get our family skiing. At first arrival it looked great, the kitchen is large and well appointed and there were gleaming new hardwood floors.
However it didn't take long for the shine to come off, on our tour of the upstairs our 15 mth old son found the loose balusters on the upstairs balcony railing. After pulling him back and calming down, we were able to position furniture and move on with our vacation. The owners had informed us of a few problems, including loose faucet in the kitchen, a leaky roof, and loose tiles in the main passage of the house. All of this was tedious but we increased monitoring on the vacation. The roof leaked and soaked the floor by the bed leading to wet socks and wet clothes.
However it was becoming clear that the installation of the shiny new engineered hardwood was incorrectly done. The threshold piece between the tile and floor was beginning to work its way loose, and a couple of the tiles by the edge were coming loose. And here is where it went all wrong, the toddler was able to get a corner of the floor threshold and pull it up. He had a 2 ft piece with 2 inch brad nails sticking out. (if you dont know what a brad nail is look them up - not suitable for attaching a flooring threshold) Also left in the floor were a number of other brad nails sticking up. Again the poor quality of work done on this place put my son at risk. Rather than an apology we heard nothing and our damage deposit was not returned. When I asked about this I received a curt reply from her, I then sent a reply explaining my concerns with the construction and have heard nothing.
In case you doubt that I know what I'm talking about here is the things wrong with the install
- gap too big, spec for floor is 1-2 mm this was 3/4 inch.
- tile edge not support, this is why the tiles on the edge were coming up, increasing the flex on the threshold
- gap was spanned with the cheapest laminate threshold available offering no nailing strength
- brad nails were used (seriously!)
TLDR; So much wrong with the workmanship on this place that it spoiled our stay and dealing with owner did not help. I have a long list of stuff that was wrong but have kept it to the most serious. I hate writing negative reviews especially for vacations and we tried our best to enjoy the place, but it was spoiled.
