Holiday terraced apartment in Ostia Lido, few minutes from the beach

About the property

With all comforts, large terrace, 2 bedrooms, private parking, sleeps 6

A wonderful apartment completely renewed and with all comforts. Here, you can relax, go to the beach, and easily join Rome. Ostia is one of Lazio's major attractions, particularly interesting to those who can't make it to Pompeii. Italy might be a Catholic country, but you won't detect any religious conservatism in the skimpy bikinis on display here. There's a carnival atmosphere, with dance halls, cinemas, and pizzerias. The Lido is set off best at Castelfusano, against a backdrop of pinewoods. Not far from the centre of Rome, it's considered the Capital's beach and it is also well-known for the 'Tourist Port' with moorings for boats from 8 to 60 metres in length. There's no time to describe it, it's time to visit it. The apartment is on the first fllor, has been completely renewed and has a living room with sofabed, 2 bedrooms (one with doublebed, one with two single beds which can also be prepared as doublebed, if you request it), one full bathroom and a little kitchen. Very large and green terrace, for your dining 'al fresco'. If you come with the car there is a private parking for you.

Beautiful apartment , clean and well maintained. Conad supermarket and pharmacy are just around the corner. Lido Nord train station is about a ten minute walk with frequent train service to Rome. Playground located in the park behind apartment block. Fun fair near Lido central station. There are plenty of shops as you head from the apartment towards the sea front. Plenty of affordable restaurants at the sea front. Lovely walk along the beach front heading north towards the yacht club. Safe area and locals are very friendly. Luigina arranged a taxi from the airport which cost €40.00. Overall a very good holiday.

Great holiday at a great place.

We are four persons from Norway who spend a week holiday at Rosalinda. We found the apartment very comfortable and all was in perfect order on arrival. The afternoons and evenings on the terrace is beautiful, quiet and peacefull. Rosalinda is situated in a distinguished part of the city. All you need is to be found just a short walk from the apartment, also the train that takes you to the center of Rome. The beach is beautiful, several miles long. A holiday at Rosalinda is highly recommendable.

The apartment is fantastic, it has all amenities and is set up perfectly for a family vacation. The location is close enough to the city that enables one to travel into town for the day and close enough to the sea that you can walk to the beach.

This was our second stay here and will not be our last

Casa Rosalinda July 2010

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our stay at Casa Rosalinda. The apartment was nice, peaceful, clean and well-maintained. The terrace was big and lovely, just as nice as it seems in the photos. The air-conditioning did not work during the first night and it was really hot to sleep, but when we informed Signora Luigina about this she immediately had it repaired.

The location was good, it was near the railway station with an easy access to Rome. The beach was pretty near, we walked about 10-15 minutes to get there. Lido di Ostia had very nice shopping opportunities, the price level was low compared to Rome. We found also very nice restaurants near the beach.

The English language abilities were not so good among the local people, the repairman and the lady who gave us the keys to the apartment spoke no English at all. But we managed.

We can fully recommend Casa Rosalinda and we could have another vacation there whenever.

If you tire of geeking out at Rome ruins why not hit the surf? The heart of modern-day Ostia is one of the most popular beach daytrips among Romans during the summer months. Lungomare Paolo Toscanelli runs along the waterfront; stroll along here and you’ll be able to quickly assess your beachgoing options. There are two types of beaches, public and club or private. Both kinds are in fact accessible to visitors, but you have to pay to access private beaches. Typical entry is about €4-5 at the bigletterie by the beaches’ main gates. The premium gets you a less crowded beach with better facilities (more bathrooms, etc.) and a more upscale clientele. However, you can enjoy the same dark sand and warm sea for free if you skip a few meters over to a public beach. Some free beaches are marked “ ingresso libero ” (free entry) at the gate; others are unmarked but don’t have a ticket counter. Lido di Ostia is joined to rome with a train line: At the Ostinse metro line station, at the top of the stairs, turn left and follow signs to Ferrovia Roma-Lido. Your Metro ticket includes the train ride to Lido Centro (35min., every 15min. daily 5:40am-11:30pm).

Ostia Antica is the old Harbour of the Romans. Visiting Ostia is like visiting Tivoli and Hadrian's villa: a relaxing trip that takes you away from the noise and incessant police-sirens of Rome. Ostia was originally developed as a sea port, prior to the silting up of the Tiber's estuary. Ostia increased in importance from the fourth century BC, becoming a major naval and trading base. As Rome's port, the town had obvious commercial significance, and expanded in size and grandeur to match this position. There are impressive mosaics and columns everywhere (statues are mostly taken away for safekeeping), but highlights include the smaller domestic details: the fishmonger's marble slab, the bar with its wares illustrated on the wall, the communal public toilets.
