Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

Located in the heart of the charming and fashionable Marais neighborhood (4th arrondissement) in the center of Paris, this fully renovated and beautifully maintained apartment possesses the perfect balance of historic beauty combined with high-tech modern conveniences: from ultra high-speed fiber optic WIFI Internet, to a state-of-the-art Miele clothes washer and dryer. Ideal for couples, individuals, or a couple of friends who want to spend the perfect holiday in an authentically Parisian apartment without sacrificing any modern comforts, this apartment is a luxurious and incredibly comfortable haven in the heart of one of the most desirable and safe neighborhoods to be in. Located on the 3rd floor (2nd by European standards) with an elevator right to the door of the apartment, this apartment looks onto two beautiful and quiet courtyards making it a particularly peaceful haven. Foodies will fall in love with the array of eateries surrounding the apartment and some of the best restaurants in the city, and those with a taste for fashion will find themselves in the middle of a seemingly unending labyrinth of designer boutiques mixed among high fashion shops and art galleries.

LOCATION: As a resident of a centuries-old building on a beautiful winding granite cobbled street, which even by Parisian high standards is considered a particularly beautiful and charming street, you will have museums, art galleries, incredible food and the latest in fashion at your doorstep. It is also just steps away from the beautiful Place des Vosges, numerous museums, parks and the river quays for romantic walks along the Seine. Additionally, the shops and restaurants in this neighborhood have the unique distinction of being open on Sundays, a rarity in Paris, which gives you the convenience of having everything you need available to you 7 days a week. The neighborhood is so popular on Sundays that the streets are closed off to cars and the area becomes a pedestrian zone for the day.

SLEEPING: Fall asleep on the highest quality mattress and crisp white pressed linens on a 160cm x 200cm bed (larger than a US queen size bed) that ensures very restful nights in the bedroom. Additionally, the sofabed in the living room amazes guests with its comfortable and incredibly firm full-size mattress that is 160cm x 200cm (also larger than a US queen size bed). The glass wall between the living room and bedroom has a black-out curtain that slides across for privacy or to keep the bedroom dark for someone who likes to sleep late while others enjoy the living room. The large windows fill the apartment with natural light year-round, while the black-out shades on all the windows allow you to sleep late or go to bed early if you need to transition to the time change; this is particularly useful in the summer when it can be light out until as late as 11:00pm!

* 2 guests are asked to use 1 bed. If 2 guests would like to use separate beds, please indicate 3 guests when making the booking.

EATING: A white stone counter top and white glass cabinets conceal a full service kitchen that is ideal for picking up food at local markets and at nearby bakeries, cheese, chocolate and wine shops and enjoying in the apartment. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, oven-microwave, cook-top, and built-in aeration hood and lighting. A short walk from one of the biggest open-air food markets in Paris at the nearby Bastille, foodies will find themselves in culinary heaven with both internationally lauded haute-cuisine, as well as up and coming restaurants and bistrots surrounding the apartment.

About Michael

I fell in love with this property because of its incredible location in the heart of the city on a beautifully picturesque street, combined with the historic charm of the surrounding Marais neighborhood (with its famous food and fashion boutiques and museums). Add to that the fact that there is an elevator (only 1 in 200 buildings in this historic area have elevators) and that it has sweeping views over the city, this is truly a special place.

You have found the perfect apartment in Paris.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for nine nights. Located on the second floor (3rd if you are an American), the elevator goes right up to the door. You can tell that Michael is an architect by how well this apartment is designed, and how much thought has gone into every aspect of it, from the sound proof glass wall, to the blackout drapes, to the perfectly appointed kitchen with state of the art appliances, the walk in shower and the very comfortable bed. Michael provided Madeleines, a wonderful bottle of wine, and coffee with a Nespresso machine. He arranged for us to transfer to this apartment from another of his apartments as soon as it was available, and even helped with that process. In addition, he provided written information about the neighborhood, a full orientation to the apartment, and even help with arranging our taxi when we left. He provides a free apartment phone and can be reached if you have any questions. We left wondering how soon we could arrange to come back. While there are many apartments available in Paris, if you want a wonderfully maintained and beautifully designed space, in a neighborhood full of history, art, architecture, with wonderful food and easy access to the Batobus, taxis, the metro and the buses, you could not do better than this. Don't wait too long to make a decision, though. I waited one extra day, and found out that someone had taken this apartment in the intervening 24 hours for the first five nights we were in Paris. Micheal arranged for us to stay in another of his apartments for the first five nights ( just as perfect, if a bit smaller), and then helped us transfer to the larger one for our final nine nights.. It makes sense, as you read these reviews, that Michael's apartments will become more and more popular. At this point, I will book this apartment before I even have my flight reservations when next I am able to come to Paris. Enjoy!

Paris in the Summer of 2017

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly as advertised. Prefect location, walking distance from most galleries, churches, and museums and a short taxi trip to the Champs-Elysees. Many great restaurants and bakeries within a short walk from the apartment. We spoke no French, but didn't find it to be problematic. Great sites, good food and wonderful wine.

Paris Apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was perfect, exactly as described. It was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, yet conveniently located. . Michael provided us with advice on transportation and getting around Paris. The apartment had everything we needed for our five-night visit. There were four of us in the apartment. The beds were comfortable - even the sofa bed. We would stay here again on our next visit.

Map

Car: not necessary

The apartment is located in the heart of the city, in the Marais, which is the oldest and best preserved neighborhood in Paris (the street the apartment is on was created in the 1100s and is one of the most beautiful in the city, paved in granite, and lined with 19th century street lamps). The surrounding area is full of restaurants, art galleries, and high-fashion shopping. The apartment is within walking distance of numerous museums and monuments, including the Picasso Museum, the Carnavalet Museum (the museum of the history of Paris), the beautiful place des Vosges, Notre Dame Cathedral, and numerous others. Additionally, it is only a 2 minute walk from the apartment to the St. Paul metro station, which is on the high-speed modern automated Line 1 (the yellow line) that goes right through the heart of the city directly to numerous monuments and sites, such as the Musée du Louvre and Arc de Triomphe.
