2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Cottage With Large Deck With A View Of The Gulf Of Mexico
About Nancy Mustaikis
We are from Michigan and purchased this cottage in December 1999 as our vacation home, when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005 it picked the house up and moved it off the foundation. At that point FEMA told us to tear it down, but being stubborn Yankees we bought the house next door (Sandcastle Cottage) remodeled that one first to live in then started on this one. We gutted the interior (we had 6 foot of water) then my husband jacked the house up and slid beams under it with his Bobcat and pushed on it till it turned back into place. From then on it's been slow and steady rebuilding from the ground up. We take pride in knowing we have done all the work ourselves from building the deck to finishing the drywall and painting. We are on the final finishing details and have decided to let others enjoy it in the summer and fall when we are in Michigan. It has taken us almost 9 years to finish but I still believe the Mississippi Gulf Coast is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

Why Nancy Mustaikis chose Gulfport
We had been coming to the Gulf Coast for 35 years to vacation. We are from a small town on Lake Michigan and wanted to be near the beach. The winters in Michigan can be brutal and the winters here are usually as warm as Michigan summers. Buying our house here gave us the chance to have the best of both worlds.
What makes this Cottage unique
Since Hurricane Katrina there has been very few homes rebuilt in our area which has given us the chance to have a view of the water to enjoy. It is a very quiet and safe neighborhood.

Amazing coastal find!
This place was great! It had everything you needed in the kitchen. It was comfortable and easy access to restaurants and the beach. It was in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect for 2 couples. Loved the screen porch so we weren't eaten by bugs. Would consider staying there again!
Very nice. Would definitely choose this rental again.
Lovely home, great location
Two couples, age 55+, stayed in this lovely home with a view of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for seven nights. We were easily registered and Nancy was quick with her response and explanation of check in and out procedures. We were met with a guide book at the front door explaining how everything worked including the Internet, Netflix, door locks and switches. We found the home to be even more lovely than the photos with well stocked gourmet kitchen and bath amenities. We enjoyed the free internet, movie collection and cable television in the evening. The home is located just two blocks from the beach with a view from the back patio. The patio, with shaded seating area on one side and the umbrella dining table with grill on the other side, was a favorite hang-out. We imagined ourselves in the hot tub, but never really had the time to use it. We found the front covered porch very comfortable with its padded furniture and overhead fan. The location was perfect for a short trip to New Orleans and back in one day as well as touring the Gulf Coast all the way to Florida for an afternoon at their beaches. The Gulf Coast is slower paced and everyone we met was very friendly. I'll definitely keep Pelican Place on my list of favorite places to visit.
There are 12 casinos within 15 miles. There is a park 1/2 block away with a splash pad, playground equipment and walking paths. The beach is 2 blocks away and is an easy walk. There is a ferry that goes to Ship Island for a day of sunbathing and swimming in crystal clear waters.
The casinos have top name concerts every weekend. If you want more excitement visit New Orleans it is only 65 miles away.
