Guestbook comments from the manager

Many thank yous to Bob and Melissa! The cabin offers comfort and beauty, and we’re so thankful for pet-friendly lodging! Our pups enjoyed their stay too.

Thanks also for the advise on Asheville and great eateries. We enjoyed both the city and the countryside.

Were a little uncomfortable using the hot tub and the swings since they were on the other cabins side so we stayed with our cabins space.

Thanks again for the wonderful get away.

Great cabin to get away, nice views, excellent hosts

  • 5 of 5

We (me, my wife and two young daughters) stayed at this property for one week and we will definitely stay again. We brought our dog with us and really used it as a base to check out all of the activities in the area. Our AWD had no problems going up the mountain and it was not as steep as some of the comments seem to indicate.

The cabin is rustic, comfortable, clean and safe. The kitchen easily supported most of our meals. We used the outdoor jacuzzi nearly every afternoon at the end of our day. We did a little hiking to the top of the mountain, but our focus was hiking the landmarks like Mount Mitchell and visiting multiple parks. The owners also own a cabin(s) at the top of the mountain but it is rented to two renters so we preferred our privacy at this cabin.

I saw a couple of negative reviews when we reserved and after a week there I completely refute them. To us, this was better than advertised, but we are pretty laid back. I read a comment about the walk to the jacuzzi, and while it is a slight walk up a hill, it is really no inconvenience and you get a better view. We really enjoyed relaxing in the jacuzzi after rafting, sliding on rocks, hiking , etc. Again, great location and lots of supplies can be gotten at stores nearby.

Kristen met us to check us in and was always available for any questions and very polite.

Loved our stay here!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Island In the Sky. Kristen was wonderful!! We stayed in the top unit of the duplex. The view was incredible and our dog loved the free roaming around the property. My only complaints - it was not private. Our hot tub was in plain (and very close) view of two other rental units... The description of this property doesn’t really share that there are other units close by.

Unwind, Unplug, Relax, Refresh

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 night getaway at Island In the Sky was so much more than we imagined. First of all, the booking process was very simple. Kristen texted us on the day of our arrival, and she met us at the bottom of the mountain. We followed her up to the top, in 4WD, which was so much fun. We got to the rental, Kristen showed us around, and left us to enjoy. By the way, Kristen is wonderful. We loved how laid back everything was, and how nothing was a problem. The views from the decks are amazing. The rental is very clean and well appointed. We absolutely loved grilling on the charcoal barbecue, having a wine and then jumping in the hot tub for a soak. Since we have never been to Asheville, we did venture into town for a wander. It was nice, but honestly, we couldn't wait to get back up to the house. We also took advantage of the tree swing chairs for some quiet afternoon reading. There is so much to do in the area if you love the outdoors as we do, however it was always really nice to head back up to the top - that view!! We also had a couple of walks down to the bottom, and a climb back up to the top - high intensity workout for sure. We will definitely be back. If you need some peace and quiet in your life, this is the place. Forgot to mention Weaverville, where you can get just about everything you need. The Main Street is very quaint and has some great restaurants, coffee shops and galleries. Also, we met Bob, owner, on our last morning. What a great guy and so interesting.
