Guestbook comments from the manager

A beautiful and spacious retreat for family or a group friends. The home has quality and comfortable furnishings including a very well equipped and workable kitchen. The large windows, decks and house orientation take full advantage of the surrounding mountains and wildlife. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit.

nice house, crowded neighborhood, NOT ski OUT,... tough ski in for young ones

  • 3 of 5

nice house, crowded in with lots of other houses, might as well have stayed in a condo at base area...

NOT SKI OUT...lots of flat trail with poling/walking.... trail back in NOT well marked and not easy for younger skiers to get enough momentum to make it back to house..

Trash pick up by management company was AFTER an 8 night stay?? We like to cook!

would not recommend to most folks

Owner's Response: Robert, My sincere apologies that your expectations for your vacation were not met. Ski in/out is certainly a matter of opinion and given the 20 (5 star reviews) posted prior to your review many others who have stayed in the cabin have felt differently about the ski access. We try hard to be accurate with our listing descriptions and skier ratings. In reviewing the listing I believe the ski access is accurately reflected in the description. The property sits directly on a ski access trail and last week I personally skied into this home over the White Otter skier bridge without touching my poles more than for a few pushes. The ski out starts flat and this is noted. Snow conditions, (you had some great powder days!) can certainly slow the progress of a skier. Age of children should also weigh into a decision about a home and as a company made up of Big Sky Locals we are able to match people with the perfect property if they share what is most important prior to booking. Big Sky has very few large homes with "step out the door" access to high speed lifts and most large homes use real estate lifts and access trails. As the listing states, the cabin is part of the Powder Ridge development. This home actually has a lovely "end of cul du sac" quiet location, but it should not have been a surprise that you were renting a cabin that had nearby cabins. Ski in/out properties are in high demand and are generally in fairly dense areas. The pictures and description on VRBO depict location accurately. We also are available for the DURATION of a guest stay and make ourselves available for anything that comes up. As we reviewed during our on-site check in process and in writing in the guest book, there are multiple dumpster locations around the development and in addition, if a guest would prefer that we pick up the trash for them we are available to do this with a simple phone call to our guest service line. Guest service is our highest priority and we are quick to respond to any request that would make our guests' stay more perfect. The base area does not have a single 5 bedroom property and certainly nothing of this caliber of decor, finish and amenity level. So renting a similar "condo" in the base would be impossible given the real estate options. Again our apologies that the property and services did not meet your expectations we appreciate your business and thank you for your candid feedback. Sincerely, Kirsten King, Owner, Big Sky Vacation Rentals

Great Ski-in/Ski-out House

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home, beautifully decorated with well appointed, modern kitchen. Our family of five had plenty of room to spread out (2 masters on the upper level, also 2 bedrooms each on main level and lower level for a total of six BR's). It easily could accommodate a larger group. Main living room has a gas fireplace and large eating table (seats 8 comfortably), plus kitchen counter. Nice (though small) mud room space by front door with a bench. Basement has another gas fireplace plus a shuffleboard table that was very fun for our teenagers (and parents). Also a bumper pool table that was a nice hit.

Access to slopes is via White Otter, and, since this cabin is at the end of the road, very quick to get on the access trail. Getting home is tricky to find at first, but once you know the turns, very quick and easy (against my instincts, I found it actually helps to look at a map rather than relying on guessing).

Big Sky itself is wonderful. Great skiing with short lines an sparsely populated slopes (we stayed the week before Christmas). On a clear day there's few if any more beautiful ski spots in the country.

There are fewer restaurants in the main village than you might expect of a ski resort of Big Sky's size. We wound up cooking at home more than we originally planned, which was fine.

We stopped in another cabin on this same road. Same layout but the one we were staying in was much more nicely decorated and equipped. Overall an outstanding place to stay - highly recommend it!

Big Sky 2016

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at Big Sky. The house with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms was perfect for our family (8 adults and 5 kids ages 4 months to 8 years). The living room and open kitchen, and nice grill worked great for meal preparation and eating space. Maybe best of all, this cabin is truly a ski-in/ski-out, with easy access to the Big Sky base area. We love Big Sky and this house was a great space for our family gathering.

Fabulous week at Powder Ridge Cabin 30!

  • 5 of 5

What a memorable experience in Big Sky! Powder Ridge Cabin 30 exceeded all of our expectations. We took our three adult children and two of their friends and will never forget our adventures throughout the week. The seven of us could not have been more comfortable. Cooking is a family hobby of ours so we enjoyed cooking quite a few of our meals at the cabin. The kitchen was extremely well appointed with quality utensils, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, serving pieces etc. There were basic spices and seasonings already in the cabinet which were quite convenient too.

The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely and felt just like home. It was such a convenience to have the shampoo/conditioner/lotion dispensers in the shower and at the sinks. The bedrooms were sprinkled on all levels which gave everyone lots of personal space. We enjoyed the game room on the bottom level in the evenings after dinner very much. Our daughter with disabilities fell in love with the shuffleboard table!

After long hikes up the gorgeous mountains in and around Big Sky, we would relax either in the hot tub (which was impeccable by the way) or sitting around the fire pit on the deck. We even had the pleasure of observing a family of deer sauntering by down below on a few occasions.

Kudos to the management company as well. They were exceedly professional in all of my dealings with them. The property was ready for us and in impeccable condition upon our arrival. One of their representatives met us at the property shortly after we arrived and showed us all around, explained how to work everything and gave us all the instructions we needed for the week and upon our exit from the property. They also made themselves available for suggestions and questions throughout the week.

We will absolutely rent this property again in the future; winter next time so we can experience both the cabin and Big Sky in it's winter glory. Wonderful, wonderful experience!

Bordeaux on the Fly

Property was beautifully maintained, well stocked with kitchen, laundry and bathroom basics. The presence of 3 King beds made it a perfect couples venue. The Big Sky rental staff was very helpful and arranged fishing guides for 16 anglers in our group.
