About the Property
4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom With Mountain Views
In 2007 I bought this cabin to live in myself and I did live there for almost a year until I decided it would be fun renting it. I was a retired elementary school teacher and I didn't have anything else to do. So why not? It was the perfect situation. While the cabin bumped up to the Buffalo National River Park it was still convenient to everything. It only took 15 minutes to get to Jasper and the Ozark Cafe with its fabulous food and yet it only took 10 minutes to get to the Low Gap Cafe too, and another 5 minutes took me to Ponca with its canoe outfitters. And there is more! The cabin was also surrounded by Arkansas' ten best hiking trails.
While I lived in the cabin that year I fully equipped it. I made sure that I was comfortable and that's the way I am leaving it for my guests. All the bedrooms have cushy mattresses and I encased them and the pillows with dust mite and allergen proof covers. I liked well fitting sheets and electric blankets. The cabin has a HE washer, dryer, flat-screen HDTV with DVD and blue-ray player, gas fireplace with a remote control, gas and charcoal grills, wrap-around porch with rocking chairs; outdoor hot tub, fire pit, abundant wildlife. I was very comfortable living there and you will be very comfortable when you stay here too!

Pets Not Allowed:
The cabin used to be pet friendly until I discovered that several dogs can't tolerate the wildlife that come and graze in the yard around the cabin. They felt like they needed to bark and chase those animals off. I am also allergic to pet hair and the hair the pets left behind on the bedding and upholstery was a problem....moreless

There is a vast array of recreational opportunities in the upper Buffalo area. It all starts with the Buffalo National River which is floatable in the spring. When it runs, it runs!
My Buffalo Cabin is in the middle of everything happening. It's also close to the best hiking trails in Arkansas including Hawksbill Crag the most photographed site in Arkansas and the Lost Valley Trail, the state's most popular trail.
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: After 30 years of being an elementary teacher in Portland, Oregon, I returned to Arkansas to retire and recuperate. In June 2006 I purchased what was to become Frannie's Cabin in the Ozarks. It was to be my home, but it was too pretty a view to keep to myself. The next year I started renting it so that others could also rest and relax there. January 2007 I purchased what is now Frannie's Cabin on the Buffalo. It too was to be my home but again it was too lovely to keep to myself and I began renting it so that others could also rejuvenate themselves. February 2013 I married an old acquaintance of mine. We grew up in the same neighborhood and we were in the same high school and college classes. Now we work together as a team, making 'Frannie's Cabins' even better than before. In 2014 Jim helped me sell the first cabin, Frannie's Cabin in the Ozarks, and we used the proceeds tostart building Frannie's Cabin in the Mountains. You'll pass by it when you stay at my Buffalo Cabin. It's a secluded cabin, so a person has to look hard to see it behind the trees. It will be listed on VRBO as soon as the exterior paint job is completed and I can get a good photo. It's going to be our best cabin yet.
Why the Owner Chose Jasper, AR, USA:
I left behind a complex, hectic lifestyle in Oregon and now I enjoy a simpler existence here in Arkansas. One of the first things I noticed when I moved here was the wonderful quietness around me. I was miles from town so there was no cars, no trucks, or trains to be heard. Just crickets chirping, cows mooing, bullfrogs croaking.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Our Buffalo Cabin sits on ten private acres and bumps up to the Buffalo National Park. This gives our cabin the illusion of being on thousands of acres. The secluded setting alone lends itself to relaxing, exploring, and enjoying a lifestyle in harmony with the Ozark Mountains. The cabin has some wonder features that add to your comfort. There's a gas fireplace that turns on and off with a push of a button, a fully equipped kitchen, with a garbage disposal, a pantry, a library, books, dvds, games. There are large plate glass windows in front that bring the outdoors in. You'll be able to stand in the kitchen and have a 180 degree view of the Buffalo National River Park in front of you. All of this and yet close enough to Jasper to allow you to run into the grocery store to pick up that forgotten item.
