Avoid the crowds and high prices of the better known islands. Enjoy Hawaii the way it used to be in our tastefully decorated one bedroom condo in East Molokai, on the windward side of the island of Molokai. Have breakfast on the lanai while watching tropical bird-life on the Wavecrest Resort's beautifully landscaped grounds. In the background are the islands of Maui, Lanai and Kaho’olawe across the Pailolo Channel. Between November and April, you’ll also see adult and newborn humpback whales offshore. While on Molokai, be sure to visit Kalaupapa, where Saint Damien and Mother Marianne Cope cared for Hawaii’s Hansen's Disease patients.
We discovered Molokai in 2004 between time-share stays in Kauai and the big island of Hawaii. We drove east on the coast road toward Halawa, the east end of the island. On our right were Lanai and Maui off in the distance. On our left was a beautiful mountain whose peaks were cloud covered. That's when we saw Wavecrest. We kept going to Halawa along what became a mostly one lane road through rain forest to a great swimming beach. It was a spectacular drive. On the way back, we drove into Wavecrest and saw a truly beautiful resort on the water with tall palm trees and gorgeous flowering plantings. The crest of the mountain was directly behind us. We called a realtor as soon as we returned home to Virginia.
We are right next door to my sister's unit. The two are ideal to rent together for a larger family or group. Her unit is VRBO listing 743960. It is also a beautifully updated and maintained unit.
This condo was clean and comfortable. Dan and Judy are very nice and easy to communicate with. The condo was stocked with the bare necessitis you would need (towels, stocked pantry, pots, pans, etc.).
The Wavecrest property is very well kept and clean. The pool/bbq cabana area is also very nice!
I want to thank Dan and Judy for letting us stay in their unit with such short notice. We were having trouble securing a unit but they responded right away and my Mom got the unit next door. It was really helpful because I got to help my Mom, who is elderly and has a little trouble getting around. We had a wonderful time there. I was really impressed with the unit, it had everything we needed. Almost a home away from home. It was very convenient that there was a washer and dryer inside the unit. When our family from Molokai came over for a potluck dinner I was surprised we were very comfortable with everyone there and the kids really enjoyed the pool. The grounds of the area were well kept, everyone was friendly and security was patrolling the grounds often so we felt safe and sound. I would recommend this unit for anyone to attain, it has lots of room and all the amenities that a family needs and more. We decided to come back and visit every summer. Hope to be there next year.
Thank you for allowing us to stay in your condo during our stay to Molokai. The condo was perfect for our little ohana, even came fully stocked to where all we needed to do was purchase groceries. If you need a place to stay, this is the place.
Very nice place, quiet and very relaxing. It's like home away from home, all you need in kitchen, bathroom and living area are readily available. Unit is clean. Owner Dan is very kind, easy to contact and respond right away for any questions. I would definitely recommend this to anybody visiting Molokai.
I was very happy with the condo! Fairly short drive from Kaunakakai, and the view from the shoreline was fantastic. The condo itself had everything I needed inside and was a great place to stay.
Kalaupapa National Reserve, noted for Father Damian and Mother Marianne, both sainted, who ministered to an infamous leper colony in the 19th century. Get there by plane or by the trail down the cliffs from the overlook area. You can ride a mule down (and up) or go on foot. In addition, there is the Molokai Forest Reserve on Kamakou Mountain, and the world's highest sea cliffs. Don't miss the churches hand-built by Father Damien.
