I am a born and bred city girl. Grew up in Queens, when to high school in the bronx, and college in Manhattan. I have lived on the upper west side since college with a brief stay on the Upper East side when I started my family. But we're back again and love it. We are living around the corner from the house and love this area for its convenience, safety and family friendliness. We have three children, ages 14, 16 and 7 who are all bi-linqual in french and english and who wouldn't want to live anywhere but the upper west side! Lots of parks, playgrounds, and CONVENIENCE. And a real neighborhood feeling which we love given the hecticness of NYC. Its nice to walk the streets and always bump into someone you know. I love my city and am always excited about 'showing it off' to guests. I am a huge broadway enthusiast and always have recommendations. Love all the off-broadway shows as well and concerts and MSG sports games. It's the best place in the world to visit and anything we can do to help you enjoy your stay..just ask!
Dana purchased this apartment in 2013
I bought this property because we loved the street and the block and the proximity to central park. The house itself is quaint and well-maintained. We also love how wide the townhouse is. 20 feet. Which makes for nice wide spacious rooms. I also love the privacy of a townhouse and the feeling of closing the door and feeling like you are really in a home/house, not an apartment.
This comfy home on a tree-lined block is a romantic hideaway for two. Just minutes from the A,C and 1,2,3 subway lines and steps off the park, this wonderful apartment is a perfect springboard for a fun filled packed Manhattan Vacation. Walk to all major museums, explore Central Park, the plaza, Madison and Fifth Avenue, on foot, then hop on an easy subway and enjoy Times Square, the Highline, Chelsea art galleries,
and Soho. This perfect little hideaway, offers the ultimate in convenience as well as quiet and peace at the end of a busy fun-packed day on a beautiful tree-lined block.
We just finished a three month stay at this perfectly located apartment on the Upper West Side. Just as advertised, it is steps from the park and conveniently located near great restaurants, markets, and services. It's just a block to the 86th Street subway station. If you are looking for something that's simple, convenient, and less expensive than others in the area, this is a great choice.
As others have mentioned, the unit is very small and is street facing on the first floor. The street is very quiet so it never presented a problem. It's not a new place, so we had to contend with a few cosmetic challenges (cracking countertop, floors in need of a polish, bathroom in need of re-grout) but for the price and location, it's easy to overlook these details.
We found Dana and Ben to be uber-responsive in the booking process and throughout our stay. The building super, Keni, was right there whenever we needed anything. We especially loved that the building participated in the neighborhood Halloween party, which brought hundreds of costumed children to the block. This building was decorated to the max, which made us proud to say "we live here!"
All in all, this was a great choice for our 3 month exploration of NYC!
The apartment really exceeded expectations. It isn't massive, but it is very comfortable for two people for an expended period of time—it even has a closet! There is also an air mattress in the apartment. It is a lovely, clean, bug-free place and it is unbelievably close to Central Park. I would highly recommend it to anybody. Ben was so helpful and friendly the entire time!
The only downside is the fact that it is garden level and faces the street which means that you can't have the blinds open unless you want everyone walking by to see you.
We had a wonderful time in NYC using this studio apt as our home base. It was clean, quiet, exactly as advertised, and was a great location for getting to Central Park, places on the UWS, and to the subway. Dana was easy to work with, answering all of our emails promptly. We hope to be able to stay here again!
We had a great time here! It's near Central park and the subway station. the pictures are just right, everything looks as in the pictures. it's beautiful andit had everything we needed. If i go back to ny i'd love to stay there again!
This is the perfect place to stay in the Upper West Side for 1 or 2 people. The apartment is clean, lovely and comfortable (comfortable bed!) with a fully stocked kitchen, on a QUIET street. Walking distance to Central Park, museums, good restaurants, 24 hr grocery store. Subway entrance 2 blocks away to get anywhere downtown. The owner and her assistant are very nice and available to answer any questions. We had a great time, would highly recommend.
Just steps off of Central Park, walking distance to Museum of Natural History, Guggenheim, and MET; live like a real New Yorker on this beautiful tree-lined block with easy subway access to the C,B, 1, 2, and 3 trains. Perfect central location for exploring Manhattan's treasures including, Times Square, Lincoln Center, the Highline, Tribeca, and Soho.
