About Michael Sissons
Hello. We are a retired middle age couple who designed and built this large home 10 years ago. We love to travel on business and pleasure and enjoy meeting new people who choose this beautiful area for their get-aways and vacations.
Michael Sissons purchased this House in 2008
Why Michael Sissons chose Qualicum Beach
We just adore Vancouver Island, in particular the Qualicum Beach area, as it is very scenic, quiet and has every amenity you would want close by. Plus the mild climate is the best in Canada. The Eaglecrest area is very lovely with huge West Coast trees and a history going back to the early twentieth century. Its very serene and a great place to walk .
What makes this House unique
This property backs right on to the 1971 era Eaglecrest Golf Course across the road from the beautiful Bluffs residential development , and right across from one of the most professionally landscaped corridors in Western Canada, with a pergola and lone classic Arbutus tree and views of the famous Strait of Georgia. From April to September the many cruise ships from Vancouver and Seattle wend their way up the Inside Strait to Alaska. Its just a beautiful place to be. The golf course's first fairway is right behind us , with no barriers, so it feels like the well treed course is an extension of the backyard. That's why we have a Jacuzzi back there , as it's so tranquil and private, and is best at night, with the lights off and the latin(or whatever we feel like) music coming out from the overhead speakers. With a nice glass of wine , and the Milky Way Galaxy glittering above against a pitch black sky , we've often thought that life doesn't get any better than this! The home has at least 5 private entrances and many people -including the contractors - thought it was a large bed and breakfast. And sometimes feels that way. There is lots of room with almost 3500 feet on one level that nobody feels crowded, and on occasion may get lost! It's easy to get anywhere you want quickly with the Comox area and the international airport about 45 minutes away and the Nanaimo ferries about the same distance. And Victoria is 2 hours south , and Vancouver a short ferry to Horseshoe Bay.

6 seniors in a quiet neighbourhood
The 6 of us had a lovely time in your beautiful relaxing home. It was a short walk to the ocean and close to lots of amenities. The only thing we didn’t do was get into the hot tub!! Too much to do and see. Thanks again for sharing your home with us.
Thank you for staying in our home! We trust that you and yours had a great time and really enjoyed your stay. Welcome to stay again at any time. Maybe then you'll have a chance to use the hot tub.
Beautiful Spot Beautiful House
This house was incredible and if you enjoy golfing the location is unbeatable! Our stay here was amazing. Highly recommend this place if you're looking to stay in the area.
Only drawback was that we couldn't figure out the TV/stereo system and no instructions were left on how it worked. Not a big deal as we weren't there to watch TV.
Much appreciate your kind comments about our home. The TV/stereo system instructions are in the guest policy brochure on the bar. You are welcome to stay again at any time!
It was great!
Thanks it was great
Lots of space and some luxury
We enjoyed our stay here. The place was very large for our family of five. The air conditioner was great to have, although strangely it is only for the main area and half the house and not the additional bedrooms or TV room. There are some very nice beds in the master and the end bedroom. Being on a golf course was great. Once the golf was done you had a very nice area to enjoy. The appliances were good. They had all the items you would want in a kitchen, lot of towels, washer dryer were good. Access to the beach took about a 5-7 minute walk. Items like pillows and couches you could tell were very high quality. There was one small pullout bed - I've never used a pull out bed that small, but it was amazingly comfortable.
The negatives were the house rule on slippers is very strange and doesn't really match with having small kids. All the beds were super comfy except for the middle one left side of the house. The house is also VERY, VERY full of personal effects and decorations. Also, the BBQ wasn't really usable (wasn't cleaned and there were pieces of metal coming off the brush).
Overall, I ranked as a 4 our of 5. A couple quirks, but I ranked 4 our of 5 and would stay here again.
Thank you for your review.
You are certainly welcome to stay again in the future should you elect to do so. In response to some of your comments, the air conditioning system is brand new, and we supplement it with ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. The propane barbeque is heavily used and has brand new grates. We have grandchildren who are required to wear slippers when they visit. Also, our guests are generally happy with the space for their clothes as we have walk in closets in most bedrooms. Thank you again for choosing our home.
A Lovely Property
My 5 girlfriends and I plan an annual get-away; and this year it was my turn to find suitable accommodation. The criteria we look for is: air conditioning, 5 bedrooms, at least 3 bathrooms, a large kitchen, a hot tub, a Barbque...and this house did not dissapoint because it had everything on our list. It was very spacious, and in a nice, peaceful neighbourhood. It was nice not to climb any stairs. I had questions prior to our arrival re: some amenities and Michael answered them and ensured that our needs were met. While at the house, if we had questions, Michael gave us the name of the cleaner/manager and she was excellent in responding. The beds were comfortable. We would be happy to stay at this house again sometime in the future.
Thank you for your kind review. You are certainly welcome to stay again in the future should you choose us.
Much appreciated . And a very respectful and welcome guest!
Macmillan Cathedral Grove- ancient huge douglas firs and cedars; Qualicum Museum; Englishman River Falls;Skiing at Mount Arrowsmith; Craig Bay outdoor museum close to Parksville on the Coastal highway is real special.
It's interesting to know that , when we first moved to the area in September 2003, my wife, who is a very strong psychic, had a special feeling about the area, in particular the area fronting Craig Bay, in the cove. She actually asked me not to walk on the grasses as it was sacred ground. It turns out that this is a 4,000-year-old Indian Burial Ground, and the Province of British Columbia, Canada has designated it as an Historic Site .
If you would require more intrigue before you book with us, simply call Ursula on her cell: 250-240-1823 to discuss the ancient spirits she has encountered on this site. It's quite remarkable , and will be mentioned in depth in her new book upcoming, with the tentative name: Spirituality Not for Sale.. My Life as A Psychic.
In general , Vancouver Island is a very special place, and the central Island area is our favorite!
