Beautiful location, beautiful home!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this home! Everything was great- large windows with beautiful views, comfy beds, nice big kitchen table, ping pong/pool table, washer & dryer, fans in each room, big dock, nice shady sitting area halfway down the walkway to put lawn chairs and enjoy morning coffee, gazebo to play cards/games in... and it was better stocked than any other cabin we've stayed at! Tons of bath towels, paper towels, t.p., cleaning supplies, dish/hand soap, first aid kit, bug spray, flash lights, plastic baggies, foil, saran wrap, seasonings, olive oil. Maybe some of these items were left behind by other visitors, I don't know, but it was wonderful!

Would definitely recommend this place!

great location, great week!

  • 5 of 5

We just left Grove Island Lodge after a great week! The Tower area had a terrible storm before our stay, and the power was out for 2 dys. It was back on before we arrived but a few hours after we reached the cabin, the power was back out. We called Jeanne and it took a bit of pleading but she brought us a generator--and good thing too! The power did not come back on for almost 48 hours--the generator was SO appreciated as we had a CPAP to run at night, not to mention we needed the refrigerator. Other than the power being out (Jeanne was very good about calling the power company and keeping tabs on how we were doing) we had no issues during our stay. The cabin is clean and very spacious. We were worried about no AC but the cabin is on a point with lots of shade trees and a near constant breeze off the lake, so it was never uncomfortable. (The breeze also kept the mosquitos at bay, which was great.)

We have rented a number of cabins in Northern MN and this cabin really stands out with the amount of room it has. For a group of 6 adults and 4 kids, it was great to have so much deck and outdoor space--the little screen building was a nice place to read, and we loved the fire pit. There is plenty of lawn space to spread out as well. The dock is a bit wobbly but plenty of room for 2 boats. The outhouse turned out to be a real blessing when we were without running water. We would have appreciated a ladder off the dock; there isn't a great place to enter the water off the shore, and we would have liked a ladder for our lake baths. King beds on the main floor were great, and the kids loved the loft space.

Also notable was how well stocked the kitchen and cabin are. Plenty of dishes, plenty of sheets and towels, fans in each room...the list goes on. Some of the kids were wishing for wifi but most of the adults appreciated the lack of connectivity. (FYI Verizon has terrible coverage in this area--but AT&T is fine).

One tip: We discovered Twin Pines Yoga halfway through the week; if you enjoy yoga you must pay Mary a visit! She is there M-F all summer, and she is lovely.

All in all it was a great week and we wouldn't hesitate to return!

Perfect, beyond expectations !

  • 5 of 5

Grove Island has everything . Waking up on a chilly night to a flickering fire dancing on the ceiling from a thermostat controlled fireplace to separate screened in cabin w/ hardwood floors for yoga in a spa like setting. Fishing and a separate cleaning shack w/ running water, gazebo for a rainy day, upstairs billiard/ ping pong table with sleeping for 8 with bathroom and shower , perfect getaway for kids , a great deck for watching soaring eagles and picture taking of the " Milky Way ". It doesn't get any better !

Beautiful Cabin and Location

  • 5 of 5

Our week at Grove Island was beautiful! The cabin was very clean and spacious enough for our group of 8. It was fully stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen, and everyone said their beds were very comfy. Tons of firewood stocked, we had a fire almost every night! The kids really loved the ping pong top for the pool table. We rented a pontoon boat from the closest marina, which ended up being about a 5 minute boat ride to the cabin, and there was no problem leaving our vehicles parked there. It ended up being pretty windy all week so we didn't get out on the lake as much as we hoped, but we caught a few 3lb small mouth bass and a couple walleye right off the dock. We also watched some guys reel in a 40" muskie just 20ft from our dock! We're all excited to stay again at Grove Island!
