Overview

About the property

Large Comfortabe Home, Sleeps 8 , 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, large deck & hot tub

With 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, the Blue Heron will comfortably accommodate 8 guests. Check-In time is 3:00 PM, Check-Out time is 11:00 AM.

The Blue Heron Ranch is only 15 minutes from the entry to Sequoia National Park, and 5 minutes from the center of Three Rivers. It is the perfect vacation retreat with river access for family and friends. The depth of the river varies between seasons. In the spring it may be high and later in the summer it can be much lower.

The living room is large, as well as the dining area and the kitchen with island. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide enough coffee to get you started, along with spices. Plus there is a screened porch and a 500 sq. ft. deck with hot tub and barbecue. Plenty of room to be together or spread out.

In the back meadow we have volleyball, badminton, and horseshoes. You can lounge on the deck, barbecue your favorite foods, or soak in the hot tub. Perfect after all that exercise!

Blue Heron for Kids:

If you are bringing the kids, we provide two high chairs and two pack-and-plays for small children. Let us know before you arrive and we will set up the kid’s wading pool next to the deck so you can keep an eye on them while you relax or play horseshoes. There are kids’ videos, books, and games. An ice chest is provided for your day trips to the park or an afternoon at the river.

Blue Heron Ranch is nestled on an acre and a half of lush, natural landscaping. It is only a short walk to the private beach on the North Fork Kaweah River. You can enjoy the water, glimpse wild ducks, an occasional Great Blue Heron, Red Tailed Hawks, or any number of our local feathered friends. The North Fork River is the perfect Huckleberry Finn place for kids and parents to play.

If you're up to it, take a river rafting tour available through several companies. Walking or hiking up North Fork Drive, the old Colony Road, will give you some idea of what the early settlers in this magical place accomplished with picks, shovels, and a little dynamite.

The world famous Kaweah Post Office, built in 1910, is nearby. It is a national monument and the smallest USA post office still in operation.

In the early morning or evenings, you may see deer grazing in the meadow or a family of wild turkeys passing through. California quail nest in the underbrush and make their appearance frequently. A special treat are the large gray squirrels gathering acorns from the majestic oak trees.

The rooms are large and tastefully furnished. Original paintings decorate many of the walls. The comfortable bedrooms will welcome you at the end of a long, fun filled day.

We look forward to your visit. If there's anything extra you might need, just let us know and we will do our best to provide it.

About David & Susy

David & Susy: We love Three Rivers and Sequoia National Park. The area we live in is called Kaweah. It was one of the earliest pioneer settlements. North Fork Drive, which used to be called “The Kaweah Colony Road “, was the first road into Sequoia Park.

David & Susy purchased this house in 2012

Why David & Susy chose Sequoia, Kings Canyon

This is a beautiful location. Lots of wild life, deer, turkeys, quail, and of course the Great Blue Herons. It is close to a wonderful spot on the river, and only a short drive to town and the park entry.

What makes this house unique

This home is perfect for family gatherings, as well as just getting away from the city with friends. It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, this area is gorgeous. In the spring and summer, it is green and lush. Fall and winter can be ablaze with the color of the changing seasons. Whether you come from far away or just from down in the valley, you will be delighted.

The accommodations, from furnishings to linens, will exceed your expectations.

Wonderful Sequoia getaway for two families with young children

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Heron Ranch! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by handwritten notes and a binder with tons of information about the amenities in the house, local restaurants and attractions. Everything worked beautifully (hot tub, washer/dryer, kitchen appliances, etc.) and the house was well stocked with everything we needed, and even things we didn't remember like bug spray, laundry detergent, coffee filters, etc. And it was decorated with beautiful art created by one of the owners! There was more than enough room for our families (4 adults and 4 children, ages 6, 5, 4 and 2) and plenty of entertainment for the kids (TV, games, sprinkler, loft, etc.). We really felt at home during our visit, and I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great getaway in the Sequoia area. Sadly we only booked 3 nights and only walked the quaint path to the river on the morning we left - wish we had more time to stay and enjoy! David was very prompt in his communications and the owners seemed very accessible (though we didn't need to contact them, as we had no issues at all). Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

Lovely home - beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Blue Heron Ranch is a lovely property the house is well appointed with very comfortable furniture and beds. The hosts provided everything we could want and some things we didn't even know we might need.

The large yard had lots of room for our granddaughters to run and play with all of the sports equipment and outdoor toys provided.

The house was very comfy with plenty of space for all 7 of us (4 adults and 3 kids ages 9 & 14) and I especially liked the large well appointed kitchen where we could cook family meals with ease.

It is situated on a side road far enough away from traffic to be really quiet at night but with easy access to Three Rivers and groceries, restaurants etc. and entrance to Sequoia.

Perfect place for a family get away.

Group friendly, quiet (3 miles away from town), short walk to a creek, which provide lots of entertainment (building rock wading pool). lots of activity on the property, and pleasant to sit on deck towards nightfall and just talk.

Awesome place for a family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family get-together at Blue Heron Ranch. Even though it was hot outside during our stay we spent most of our time on the wonderful patio, in the shade of the big oak trees, grilling, hanging out, playing horse shoes and going in the hot tub. The house is spacious well equipped and very comfortable. It feels like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend it as a base for anyone going to Sequoia National Park or for someone that just wants a nice secluded place to hang out.
