Overview

About the property

Large Comfortabe Home, Sleeps 8 , 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, large deck & hot tub

With 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, the Blue Heron will comfortably accommodate 8 guests. Check-In time is 3:00 PM, Check-Out time is 11:00 AM. Our phone is (559) 561-4130.

The Blue Heron Ranch is only 15 minutes from the entry to Sequoia National Park, and 5 minutes from the center of Three Rivers. It is the perfect vacation retreat with river access for family and friends. The depth of the river varies between seasons. In the spring it may be high and later in the summer it can be much lower.

The living room is large, as well as the dining area and the kitchen with island. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide enough coffee to get you started, along with spices. Plus there is a screened porch and a 500 sq. ft. deck with hot tub and barbecue. Plenty of room to be together or spread out.

In the back meadow we have volleyball, badminton, and horseshoes. You can lounge on the deck, barbecue your favorite foods, or soak in the hot tub. Perfect after all that exercise!

Blue Heron for Kids:

If you are bringing the kids, we provide two high chairs and two pack-and-plays for small children. Let us know before you arrive and we will set up the kid’s wading pool next to the deck so you can keep an eye on them while you relax or play horseshoes. There are kids’ videos, books, and games. An ice chest is provided for your day trips to the park or an afternoon at the river.

Blue Heron Ranch is nestled on an acre and a half of lush, natural landscaping. It is only a short walk to the private beach on the North Fork Kaweah River. You can enjoy the water, glimpse wild ducks, an occasional Great Blue Heron, Red Tailed Hawks, or any number of our local feathered friends. The North Fork River is the perfect Huckleberry Finn place for kids and parents to play.

If you're up to it, take a river rafting tour available through several companies. Walking or hiking up North Fork Drive, the old Colony Road, will give you some idea of what the early settlers in this magical place accomplished with picks, shovels, and a little dynamite.

The world famous Kaweah Post Office, built in 1910, is nearby. It is a national monument and the smallest USA post office still in operation.

In the early morning or evenings, you may see deer grazing in the meadow or a family of wild turkeys passing through. California quail nest in the underbrush and make their appearance frequently. A special treat are the large gray squirrels gathering acorns from the majestic oak trees.

The rooms are large and tastefully furnished. Original paintings decorate many of the walls. The comfortable bedrooms will welcome you at the end of a long, fun filled day.

We look forward to your visit. If there's anything extra you might need, just let us know and we will do our best to provide it.

About David & Susy

David & Susy: We love Three Rivers and Sequoia National Park. The area we live in is called Kaweah. It was one of the earliest pioneer settlements. North Fork Drive, which used to be called “The Kaweah Colony Road “, was the first road into Sequoia Park.

David & Susy purchased this house in 2012

Why David & Susy chose Sequoia, Kings Canyon

This is a beautiful location. Lots of wild life, deer, turkeys, quail, and of course the Great Blue Herons. It is close to a wonderful spot on the river, and only a short drive to town and the park entry.

What makes this house unique

This home is perfect for family gatherings, as well as just getting away from the city with friends. It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, this area is gorgeous. In the spring and summer, it is green and lush. Fall and winter can be ablaze with the color of the changing seasons. Whether you come from far away or just from down in the valley, you will be delighted.

The accommodations, from furnishings to linens, will exceed your expectations.

Great Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 8 friends stayed at the Ranch, and had the greatest time! I love that every couple had their own room, and have privacy as they wish. We cooked great meals, had coffee in the morning in the upstairs loft, played board games in the living room, chatted on the screened porch, and played with the cute dogs when they came over! We used the hot tub and grill outside as well! Such a fun house to enjoy the serenity of friendship and Three Rivers. Thank you again David and Susy, it was great meeting you!

Felt Like We Were Home

  • 5 of 5

I have to apologize to David and Susy for taking so long to submit a review! We booked a spur of the moment getaway, because we needed trees! This house is set in such an idyllic setting, felt so comfortable and was so well equipped! We all slept so well and so comfortably. The house is cozy enough, and yet if someone wanted their own space, they had it. The house was clean - even this German Hausfrau was satisfied! Anything you could want, this house had. You can even mix yourself a Cosmo in the cocktail shaker, pour it in a pretty glass and cut a piece of lemon rind with the lemon rind cutter thingie (they have that!) and sit outside and breathe the good air and watch your kids play volleyball or play croquet or just lounge in the hot tub!

Great getaway...

  • 5 of 5

Spent a few days at David and Susy's property. It's a wonderful property, well stocked and clean. We even took our shoes and hiking boots off when we entered the home. David was kind enough to provide a brand new outdoor fire pit. Looking forward to returning ...

Great property and location

  • 5 of 5

Susy/David were pleasant to deal with. We had a family vacation during 12/26~30 at the Blue Heron property. The home was clean and beautifully arranged throughout. BBQ was in working order and clean. Would stay here again when we visit next time. Thank you again for making it a memorable vacation w/ family.

Only 5 minutes to the center of town and 15 minutes from Sequoia Park entrance. Close to everything! Please note that in Sequoia Park mountain communities, AT&T cellular service receives in more places than any other company. Verizon is spotty, and other companies may not work in the hill country at all.
