What makes this house unique

We love the rock fireplace - so cozy! We love to sit on the decks and gaze at the lovely mountain views. We enjoy the relaxing quiet of the forest and the fresh, clean air. There are many hiking areas - all of which are beautiful. You can swim, go boating, fishing, ice skating, go out to eat, see new movies, attend church, enjoy parades, and much more. One of the foremost American photographers, Timothy Wolcott, has a gallery here, too!

Nice Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Overall we Pine Nest is a nice cabin to rent. It was very clean, and well stocked with linens, towel and kitchen equipment. The owner was easy to deal with, and the location is great. The only problem we had was that the garbage disposal was broken when we arrived. I would recommend staying there!

Overall an awesome experience! The home contained all the amenities mentioned on the add. It was a perfect fit for all 8 of us that stayed there. It is very neat and cozy just perfect for the winter season. Definitely a place to stay at if you want a memorable trip to Big Bear Lake. Management was great, friendly and helpful.

Nice place with a few issues

  • 2 of 5

I had a nice relaxing stay. It was close to the village and restaurants. However, there were a few problems with the place. The upstairs shower head needed repair, not to mention it needs a whole shower door (so it's effectively unusable unless you want to further soak the bathroom floor, which already suffers from water damage). The downstairs bathroom also needed a shower door fixed. It hung precariously and was difficult to slide open to go in and out of the tub. There also wasn't salt for the driveway, which was iced over and very slippery the week we were there. The king bed upstairs didn't have a fitted sheet and the flat sheet over the mattress slid around as we slept. The kitchen did not have detergent or dish towels, even though there was a nominal penalty for not doing so. There was a washer and dryer, but the dryer vent was plugged, so it took 3 cycles before our clothes were dry. You also have to take your trash into the transfer station, although I suspect that's the standard in Big Bear. However, if you plug in the address the homeowner gives, it'll direct you across the street. I reported the shower door, but after a while I didn't want to keep sending problem reports to the manager.

Overall, there was a lack of attention to detail, but the place was cozy and the fireplace was great. If you rent this place, just be prepared to bug the manager for the first day or so if these problems persist.

The perfect cozy cabin for a large family

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect. It is located on a quiet road close to Snow Summit, shopping and resturaunts. The cabin itself is very charming and very spacious. I would recommend it and already have, to friends and family. I look forward to staying there again in the future.

This house is on a flat section of a quiet, residential street with a slopped street directly across, Mahandy Lane. We are a short walk to Mallard Bay, just a few houses north of Big Bear Boulevard, and a few streets west of the entrance of the Village. There are many pine trees all around and views of the mountains. The Village Pizza, at the corner of Big Bear Blvd. and Village Drive, is the best anywhere! Next to it is the cozy Coffee and Tea Exchange, both with wifi. Just east of these is the Ooh La La gourmet French Restaurant where the quality and quantity of food and the friendly service are surprisingly affordable. There are activities for all ages; singles and families. Just east are toboggan slopes. Down the street is the Lakeside Market, an antique shop, of which there are many in town, the Big Bear Brewery and the Aztec Grill, and Sugar Pine Bakery.
