About tracee

I am the great granddaughter of Gus and Anna Spitzmiller who settled here in the late 1800's. Gus came to this area to mine Silver at Lulu City with others like the famous Squeeky Bob Wheeler. He eventually settled down and brought his wife Anna to Grand Lake and became the first Master Plumber in Grand County. Anna had the first indoor running water in the County. My grandmother, Barbara Lorens married Gordon Spitzmiller (Gus's son) and they joined their plumbing business with grandma's dairy farm--on what is now Shadow Mtn. Lake. Eventually Shadow Mtn Reservoir was made, and so, we have property all along the river to the lake.

tracee purchased this cabin in 1940

Why tracee chose Northwest

This is one of 3 cabins, plus a family home, I own in Grand Lake. This is the 1 bedroom, and is the smallest of the units, but still about 900 sq feet. All my cabins are BIG. It has been fully renovated on the inside, and many find it so cozy and romantic that they call it the 'Love Shack'. We also have a 2/1 vrbo # 454309, and a 3/1 Homeaway # 3564480. Or if you have a big group and want to splurge, you can rent our family home, vrbo # 490482.

What makes this cabin unique

Very private and gorgeous property with easy access on and off the main road and only 2 miles to the village of Grand lake. You can canoe in the wildlife area from our meadow ( as the whole property is surrounded on 3-sides by the Colo. river) in the Summer or snowmobile right across the lake to town and the trails in the Winter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I were on a cross-country road trip, and we decided to spend a couple of nights in Grand Lake. The cabin was decorated nicely. The bathroom was clean and recently renovated. The fireplace and wall heaters kept the cabin very warm, even though it was cold outside. There was plenty of firewood. The property is amazing! The cabin is located very close to town and the entrance to the National Park. I would recommend this cabin, or any other on the property,to my friends and family, over and over again. Tracee, the owner, was incredible. She treated us like family and was very accomodating. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Grand Lake.

I will most certainly be back. I will spread the word to all my colleagues and friends traveling from Florida.

Amazing cabin with a view

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to spend the weekend. The cabin is close to town but the feeling of being off in the middle of the woods. Great views when you wake up in the morning and a great fire place to fall asleep to at night. For those needing some technology you have Internet but not having tv is the best. Learning to connect through conversation and games. The new remodel is spectacular and the bed is comfortable as can be. The pup loved the open space to run as well as viewing the animals that wondered about at night. Had a moose walk through at 1000 at night. If you are looking for a place to get away to, this is it.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the cabin and surrounding area was perfect! This was our first trip to Grand Lake, I would recommend this cabin for anyone with a dog who loves to be outside. The cabin itself had everything and anything you could need. The furniture was comfortable, the space was clean, and the attention to detail was evident. We spent the majority of our time outside in the large open space playing with the dog. Or sitting by the beautiful river reading. A pleasant and relaxing weekend thanks to Grand Lake's beauty and this comfy cozy cabin!

Lorens Ranch in Grand Lake, CO

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful 4 days we had at Loren's Ranch. It was newly remodeled, cozy, completely furnished and was so peaceful. There isn't a TV or a Phone but there is a radio and a CD player that had some CDs to play. We also had our own to play. We did bring our computer and a pile of DVDs. Only watched 2 of them because of other things to do at Rocky Mountain National Park, Granby and Hot Sulfur Springs. The weather was in the 80s (for the 3rd week of September that was great) and the leaves were astounding in color. We definitely would go back to enjoy some more time in Grand Lake.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful spot with absolutely gorgeous views! Perfect size for my husband and I. The site manager caitie was very nice and helpful and Tracee is the nicest, most understanding and generous owner! The cabin is updated and modern inside and very clean! The colorado river is pretty much in the back yard where you can sit overlooking the lake and mountains (also where we saw moose!) If you are looking for a beautiful getaway this is your spot! Thank you Tracee for letting us rent your gorgeous little cabin!
