Views, Views, and Views
My extended family and I (12 total) stayed here for 5 nights. The location is great--a bit of a drive from the center of the island, but very private. The views were great, and the beach was beautiful. House had plenty of room, plus books & games. The bedroom on the top floor is huge (maybe a bit of wasted space). The other bedrooms were comfortable. Our teens took up the bunk bed room, using the bed plus an air mattress that was provided. The pool was small, but we didn't really use it much anyway--we all wanted to hang out on the beach. All in all, no complaints at all. Oh, and the elevator was definitely helpful!
The lure of St George Island is the return to Peace and Quiet and the Unencumbered life. You step away from the 'busy bustle of life' into another world of blue water and colorful sky's, white sands and palm trees, bleak seascape and lush tropical forest. Schooner Landing, a private community within the Plantation, is at the West end of the Island right at Bob Sikes Cut. This is where you'll find the perfect vacation spot in which to 'do' nothing or everything. It's time to read, write, paint, sit, walk, run, ride, swim, surf, fish the gulf or Cut, kayak with the Dolphins, sail, boogie board, paddle board, shelling,,, endless choices. Visit the Light House and park, or the 3rd most beautiful beach in the States which is located at the East End State Park. Visit Apalachicola's quaint downtown shops, museums, marina. Go on line to each of these cities to calendar their many festivals and activities. Travel West on Hwy 98 to Cape San Blas or on to Port St. Joe. Visit Carrabelle and it's delightful harbor to the East on Hwy 98. Again, read about these activities and more on line and browse though the notebook located in our home packed full of places, things to do and see while relaxing in our 'forgotten coast'. And don't forget about the lure of the Loggerhead Turtles nesting season.
