My wife and I stayed for two nights at the end of September this year and absolutely loved the place. Penny was nice enough to let us bring along our dog, Tucker, as well. The cabin is very well kept and more than spacious enough for a couple and an 85 pound lab! We absolutely love the area surrounding Edgecomb--Boothbay, Damariscotta and Wiscasset -- and we'll definitely be back again (hopefully) soon.
Beautiful views looking over the Sheepscot River. Great location. Very quiet. The cabin was equipped with everything you would need. The washer / dryer is a bonus ! The entrance needs an awning over the door, the rain pours down on you while getting in. A small bedroom air conditioner would be a nice addition, it was very hot for a few days in August. And also....the cabin is dog friendly, and although it was cleaned, both the bed cover and couch had an odor. We did love our stay here, and would definitely stay here again!
Penny's cottage is situated in a stunningly gorgeous spot, so close to the water you feel like you are on a boat. It is very well equipped with everything you could need ( except I couldn't find a bottle opener to open a bottle of beer).
The place is very clean and very nicely decorated. The dining table is situated right next to a bank of windows with ocean breezes and breathtaking views all around. There are TV's in both the bedroom and living room,so my friend could watch the Olympics, while I watched MSNBC.
There is no stove, but the hot plate, microwave and toaster oven all worked well and are all most people need on vacation.
Very close to the Maine Botanical Gardens and the famous Red's Eats ( not to be missed).
A very lovely place; highly recommended.
The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated and the view was wonderful. Our only real disappointment was finding out there was no stove for cooking - We must have missed that in the write up. We did find a two burner hot plate in the closet with the washer/dryer and we were able to make do with that but it was definitely inconvenient. Other than that, everything else was very nice.
What an ideal Maine location! This charming, clean and well appointed cottage on the river has beautiful views of Wiscassett. Centrally located, it is a perfect destination in Maine to hit all the mid coast points like Damariscotta, Camden, Boothbay, Freeport, and Portland while still maintaining its rustic charm and tranquility from the larger towns. Penny was a very accommodating and responsive host. We will most certainly rent here again.
We loved the location. It was close to Freeport, Brunswick, and Boothbay. The main bed was very comfortable, but the pullout couch mattress was very uncomfortable as you could feel the bars underneath. The washer and dryer was a nice addition. The only complaint was that we didn't get the access code until the night before we were due to check in. Overall a nice little cabin.
So many activities are available at your doorstep! Enjoy sightseeing in close by Wiscasset. Walking tours of Historical homes and haunted history. Maine Maritime Museum in Bath is a must see. The Boothbay Harbor Region is a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Known for it's tall masted ships at Windjammer Days, Boothbay Harbor is a fabulous destination for shopping, dining and boating. Take a harbor cruise or whale watching expedition from one of the piers. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is 248 acres of gardens with a mile of waterfront on Barter's Island Road.
