Great little cabin

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful little cabin, just as advertised. Clean, modest, GREAT views. Truly one bedroom, with a comfortable bed and water views as you wake up. A little US1 road noise but very modest (US1 is across the water so about 3/4 mile from the cabin). As mentioned, there is no stove (2-burner hotplate) and no dishwasher, as well as no A/C (usually not a factor here), so as long as you're expecting that, it's all good. Washer and dryer are a nice addition and work great. Views are wonderful. Easy walk across the bridge to a few restaurants and shops. We had one small issue while there (almost no hot H20) which Tab, Penny's caretaker, addressed promptly and well (and once addressed, the shower/tub was hot and had a strong water stream). If we come back to the area, we'd stay at Penny's cabin again - no question. Oh by the way - we're dog owners but didn't bring our dog this time, and although my wife is very smell-sensitive, the cabin didn't smell like dog at all - very very clean).

Beautiful, Well Kept Cottage Right on the Water in Edgecomb

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the end of September this year and absolutely loved the place. Penny was nice enough to let us bring along our dog, Tucker, as well. The cabin is very well kept and more than spacious enough for a couple and an 85 pound lab! We absolutely love the area surrounding Edgecomb--Boothbay, Damariscotta and Wiscasset -- and we'll definitely be back again (hopefully) soon.

Relaxing Views

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful views looking over the Sheepscot River. Great location. Very quiet. The cabin was equipped with everything you would need. The washer / dryer is a bonus ! The entrance needs an awning over the door, the rain pours down on you while getting in. A small bedroom air conditioner would be a nice addition, it was very hot for a few days in August. And also....the cabin is dog friendly, and although it was cleaned, both the bed cover and couch had an odor. We did love our stay here, and would definitely stay here again!

Lovely spot for a Maine getaway

  • 4 of 5

Penny's cottage is situated in a stunningly gorgeous spot, so close to the water you feel like you are on a boat. It is very well equipped with everything you could need ( except I couldn't find a bottle opener to open a bottle of beer).

The place is very clean and very nicely decorated. The dining table is situated right next to a bank of windows with ocean breezes and breathtaking views all around. There are TV's in both the bedroom and living room,so my friend could watch the Olympics, while I watched MSNBC.

There is no stove, but the hot plate, microwave and toaster oven all worked well and are all most people need on vacation.

Very close to the Maine Botanical Gardens and the famous Red's Eats ( not to be missed).

A very lovely place; highly recommended.

Very nice

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated and the view was wonderful. Our only real disappointment was finding out there was no stove for cooking - We must have missed that in the write up. We did find a two burner hot plate in the closet with the washer/dryer and we were able to make do with that but it was definitely inconvenient. Other than that, everything else was very nice.

What an ideal Maine location! This charming, clean and well appointed cottage on the river has beautiful views of Wiscassett. Centrally located, it is a perfect destination in Maine to hit all the mid coast points like Damariscotta, Camden, Boothbay, Freeport, and Portland while still maintaining its rustic charm and tranquility from the larger towns. Penny was a very accommodating and responsive host. We will most certainly rent here again.
