Why Anke Froehlich chose Milna
We lived in Croatia for over 5 years and got to know the country with its many beautiful islands and interesting people. We built our house during this time and still like to spend a lot of time on the island .... and especially in our bay.

Perfect stay on Brac Island
The location of this villa is perfect - not far to drive to Milna for groceries, cafes, restaurants and bars and located on the most perfect bay for swimming. We loved waking in the morning to wander down to our private rock pontoon to swim before breakfast - there are four sun loungers on the pontoon for relaxing in the sun - which we did a lot of during our stay! Duboka Bay is one of the most beautiful places we have had the pleasure of visiting, the water is sparkling turquoise and the rock pontoon allocated to the villa is private and perfect to jump into the Adriatic Sea.
The villa is spacious, very clean and we found the beds to be very comfortable - lots of private outdoor space and the pool was great as an alternative swimming location if you didn't feel like going to the sea. You do need to use the generator for the washing machine, dishwasher, oven and air-conditioning (if required) which is noisy but we only needed it when using the big appliances, electricity powered by a solar battery runs small items (phone chargers, CPAP machines etc). Hot water wasn't consistent during our stay so having a hot shower with good water pressure isn't this villas strong point but we were OK with this because everything else was more important to us.
You do need a car if you are staying here as the walk to Milna is OK in one direction and for the more energetic you could do the return on foot. We didn't feel safe to walk the road at night, there is no lighting until you near Milna (about 2 kilometres) and it is a narrow road so cars can come quite close to you but having a car also gives you an opportunity to explore Brac in your own time. We loved having an afternoon drive to a different part of Brac each day, the island is truly beautiful - we loved visiting Sutivan, Splitska, Postira, Bol and other places.
Anke was very easy to deal with and responsive with any communications required. Once on Brac, Stipe and Nora take responsibility for the day-to-day care of the guests and they were wonderful! Stipe organised amazing fresh fish for us and Nora was invaluable in assisting us with a car tyre replacement - we were very appreciative to them both for their care while we stayed at the villa.
We hope one day to return to this beautiful place!
A great escape
A very well appointed villa with a great location. Very clean and sleek design. Great outside spaces. A few minutes down to your own private rock with the most amazing sea. Great to take the kayaks and paddle round the bay to the right to the millionaires yacht playground, bars and restaurant. Only 5 mins drive to Milna where you can get all supplies needed. Stipe organised a great boat trip for us with Tony - a very memorable 40th birthday and great escape from work. Would highly recommend.
Dear Alexandra, Many many thanks for your nice review. I really appreciate your time. Please contact me again if you want to come to Croatia. All the best to you and your lovely family. BR Anke
Lovely house in a lovely location, but ......
We had a lovely stay in the house. It was very well equipped, very spacious and overall very comfortable. Lots of shade around the pool, including a lovely gazebo. There's a great wood-fired BBQ, table-tennis table, and 2 double kyaks tied up on the rock pontoon. We thought Milna was terrific, with a reasonable array of restaurants - although haut-cuisine should not be expected.
Stipe and Nora, looking after the house (they don't live on-site) were very accommodating, although we made little use of their services.
There were a few downsides to be aware of if considering a booking:
Although property tile indicates "a few steps from the sea", it is in fact down a continuation of the steep hill from the road. There is a tiny stony beach, but to reach the pontoon (where the kyaks are located plus sunbeds), it is then a difficult walk. Not that long, but its an uneven, rocky and narrow path - totally unsuitable for buggies and the less able.
The steep hill from the road is really very steep. We walked up it a couple of times so that we could walk to MIlna (25 minutes), but it would again be a severe challenge for anyone pushing a buggy, less able, or with a heart condition ! Even driving up it was a challenge to our car, requiring a bit of a run up to make it without stalling.
The house is "green", insofar as it is solar powered. The drawback is that to run any major appliance, a diesel generator needs to be started. Whilst this wasn't a huge issue, it was irritating to have to turn on the generator just to grill a piece of toast ! And a bit noisy, although the generator is located in an outbuilding with some sound-proofing.
Not the fault of our hosts in any way, but a big downside was the abundance of cats that would appear at every meal-time. We were not sure if these were strays, or belonged to people across the way, but they were persistent despite being chased away on sight.
Would we stay there again ? Probably not. We prefer to walk to the nearest village and restaurants, and whilst this was possible it was a long way (25 minutes each way - and that hill before you get started !!)
Would we recommend the property ? With the above downsides and caveats taken into consideration, yes we would. The house is everything the brochure says - although the distance from the sea does stretch it a bit. We had a fabulous time, and if you want to just stay in and around the house, its perfect.

Thank you very much for your review. We are always trying to really take reviews personally and change things when it might be usefull for other guests.
I always tried to discribe our property and the bay as accurate as possible. I am sorry to hear that you had some issues. I will know change and add some commensts into the text discriptions and also add a picture where new guests can see the steep path down to the bay. The meters are quite correct if you consider the little beach as the closest point from the house to the water. I know that our bathing platform is at the top of our lttle bay far more away than the little beach. There is already a picture online that is taken from the bathing platfrom backwards into the bay/house. Already from here you can see the distance to the house.
I also just added the comment that the house is not suitable for elderly people and small children. I really hope that makes it more clearly.
We still hope that you have enjoyed your stay and if you might come back one day the cats will be gone. They belong to one of our neighbors and I guess they were just hungry. Unfortunately I cannot do anything against it but I will try to talk to our neighbor about it. We will buy a little cat disturb machine that gives a signal (not hearable for people) on a high frequence and cats do not like it and hopefully won't come back. Some of our guests are also feeding the cats.
Regarding the distance to Milna and Restaurants in Milna: We really recommend all guests to rent a car, to avoid the walking into town. A lot of people like it but not everyday. It takes less than 5 minutes by car and nobody has to walk up the path to the main street into Milna.
Croatia is been know as a laid back and quite simple place, so food is served in a basic form and I personally really like it. If you will return to croatia one day to a differnt place you will find similar food everywhere on the coast line and the islands. Unfortunately it is not too fancy here but that makes it also quite attractive and different to other places.
Regarding the generator. Unfortunately but some applaince just need so much energy that our solar system cannot handle it at the same time. Our house will be connected to electricity soon. In the meanwhile I will inform our guests more detailed about it. So, I really hope you did enjoy our beautiful island and bring positive memories back home. All the best, Anke
Lovely week in Croatia
We really liked Croatia and very much your house!! The house was really nice with all the facilities you can need. We were also very happy since the weather turned out to be just fine that week. I must also say that Spike was very friendly and recommended restaurants etc.
We will for sure come back to Croatia and also recommend our friends to rent your house :-)
Fantastic location and Villa
I sayed at this wonderful villa with a group of 8 friends to celebrate my 50th Birthday. We could not have wished for a better stay. The villa is simply stunning and the Island itself is extraordinary.
The villa staff were very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. On the evening of my Birthday they cooked a croation style BBQ for us with local salads that was delightful.
I would not hesitate to recomend this villa to anyone considering a stay on the island and would like to return and enjoy another stay myself.

We are delighted that the villa and our island meet your expectations and we hope that we can welcome you back sometime in the future.
Our family have just completed the most wonderful holiday at the Lotus Villa. Coming all the way from New Zealand it was very important to have a beautiful place to stay and not to be disappointed from viewing on the internet, so it was with great pleasure that we arrived on the island of Brac to find this amazing Villa. There was not one thing that was not perfect from the communication with the owners to the staff – nothing was too much trouble.
The house couldn’t have suited us better with adults and children alike – there was something for everyone and lots of lovely spaces . The pool was wonderful , the house beautiful and the position of the Villa just stunning.
I would definitely recommend Lotus Villa to anyone that is making a trip to the beautiful Croatia – you won’t be disappointed – it was an absolute highlight for us – a big thank you to the owners for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise. I would love to come again one day.
Kindest regards from New Zealand
It was a pleasure having you and the other part of your family (from England and Australia) at our place. I was very glad that the weather was still perfect early october and also that you got to know that lovely country with it's beautiful islands. We would like to see you again...:-)))) All the best and regards to Aotearoa. The owner.
The lovely fishing village of Milna is just 2.5 km away. It offers a range of cafés, restaurants, konobas, art galleries, wine shops and a local farmer market. Enjoy a good cup of coffee while watching sailing boats entering or leaving its beautiful marina. It is a real pleasure. Come and join us in September and October. Croatia’s most beautiful months. Island life returns to a slower pace. Enjoy gorgeous temperatures, dive into clear sea water heated by the hot summer.
Other Activities: Kayaks for the whole family are provided free of charge, private bathing platform with sun loungers and boot mooring.
