Pere Marquette River 'fly's Only Section' 6000 Feet Of River Frontage

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Baths, Sleeps up to 12 - 10 feet from River

A 'big brother' cabin to the 'Green Cabin', we have used this cabin for family and friends over the years. It has 3 bedrooms with 4 beds each, 2 full baths, washer/dryer, full kitchen all with a large screened in front porch right on the river. Also has outdoor fire pit. If you are looking for a home base to enjoy the river - whether it is fly fishing, kayaking or just to watch the river go by- this is it. Located on 80 acres of wooded land, with over 6000 feet of river frontage (both sides) this is solitude at its best.

About Kim or Pam Gary

We purchased this land and cabins because we fell in love with the Lake County area. We built our log home just down river for not only a home, but a place our whole family can enjoy and gather. With 4 children, 7 dogs and 2 grand children we needed lots of room to roam.

Kim or Pam Gary purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Kim or Pam Gary chose Northwest

When I showed this property to my wife, her only response was 'Buy it' It is our 'slice of heaven'

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the front screen porch says it all. Listening to the river go by and the next neighbor is 1/2 mile away.

Perfect for a getaway with the guys

We had an amazing time. Everything was clean and in working order. Paper towel and toilet paper are important and often forgotten. This cabin has it all. We will be back for sure!

Excellent location on prime fishing waters.

  • 5 of 5

Five of us enjoyed 4 days of excellent fishing on the PM in early July. River access was as easy as walking down a short path to the water's edge, where wading was easy and fishing was productive. Cabin description is very accurate. Best features of the cabin include the screened in porch overlooking the river just out front, the spacious, well stocked kitchen complete with dishwasher, and the quiet, peaceful location away from it all. Bedroom mattresses are a bit saggy and the beds a bit squeaky, but we all slept well. We definitely plan to return for more fishing fun.

Beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here last summer and had a wonderful time. We did a 3 hour kayak trip starting down river and ended up at our cabin which was perfect. (FYI it can be a little tricky finding a place to put out on your kayak by the cabin as you are right near a curve in the river where current is stronger, it can be done though) The screened in porch right next to the river is the best part and where we spent most of our time. Just beautiful. We brought both of our dogs who enjoyed the area and river. The only thing that could have been improved with the cabin is cleanliness of the interior upon arrival. The sink smelled rotten and there was a dead mouse on the kitchen floor when we first walked in. It was probably a fluke and did not stop us from having a wonderful time. I would recommend this cabin to all potential renters.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

If there's a finer location for the fly fisherman on the PM, I haven't seen it. Simple but well appointed quarters, with a wonderful back porch, fire pit, and great access to some of the finest waters in Michigan. Turn the phones off and leave the tablet at home, this is a true get away from all the distractions of daily life. Will be hard pressed to want to ever look anywhere else for our biannual fishing trips.

Couldn't have asked for a better location; loved it here

  • 5 of 5

Stocked with everything you need. So relaxing on the screened porch (whether it's with cup of coffee in the morning or glass of wine in the evening) listening to the sounds of the water and watching people float by on the river. Kim, thanks for sharing this special place. Jones Ice Cream in Baldwin is always a must. Ludington favorites: Breakfast at Old Hamlin; drive along Lake Michigan towards Ludington State Park; browse/shop at Todd and Brad Reed Photography; grab ice cream at House of Flavors & go to the pier to watch the Badger come in. Other fun things to do in the area are the casino in Manistee; Dublin General Store in Wellston, MI for best ever jerky (love the venison), cheese curds and venison summer sausage.

Owner's Response: Carol, thanks for the kind words. Your right with so much to do in the area besides fly fishing (some might say do you need anything else?) Pleasure meeting you and hope to see you in the future.
