About Waylon Krush

I live in the DC Metro area, but I am originally from the mid-west. After visiting Vieques - I fell in love. This place will calm you down right away. The Bio Bay and Beaches are amazing – and as a foodie you will be able to enjoy the best local hole in the walls to some of the greatest white cloth Caribbean restaurant’s you have ever visited. The reason you will find our properties to be some of the best on the island is we ensure they are all well maintained, have up to date amenities, and we hire the best people on the island to ensure our properties always meet your vacation needs – if they do not – tell us and we will do our best to make it right.

Why Waylon Krush chose Isabel Segunda

This carefully maintained and recently renovated top floor home is within walking distance to Sea Glass Beach, grocery stores, shops, bars and The Plaza in the center of town and location of many island activities. This upper unit is a one bedroom apartment with balconies and views of Isabel Segunda , the Atlantic Ocean and the main island of Puerto Rico and the rain forest El Yunque. This unit is fully furnished with real windows (this is not normal in Vieques), air conditioning, and all the amenities you would expect at an extended stay five star hotel. The home includes a full kitchen (everything is new), separate bathroom with shower, towels, and beach supplies. This home has undergone several recent renovations and has all new paint, linens, and house supplies.

When you are in Vieques – it is difficult if not impossible to find a well maintained house, close to everything at a great price – this is the place. The very things we consider normal such windows, A/C, a kitchen, full bathroom, and hot water are considered luxury items on the island (so watch out for this when you are renting). This unit has them all – and is in the perfect location so you can enjoy beaches, shopping, and downtown during the day and walk to the amazing bars and restaurants in the night. Enjoy your balcony in with views of the old city and ocean. Everything is new and it is everything you need to enjoy your vacation on this amazing island.

What makes this townhome unique

It is the top floor unit and has a great beach design and furniture. The home has a full bedroom with closet and fold out futon in the living room – so it comfortably sleeps 4 people. It has a full kitchen, bathroom, and two balconies – but is in very close walking everything in case you do not want to cook.

This city home is in walking distance of the Ferry and a short cab ride from the Airport. We also have on-street parking next to the house if you rent a car (but you really do not need a car if you have a house in the city). The beach is within walking distance and if you want to go to one of the untouched beaches (highly recommended) in Vieques you can arrange a tour or cab that will take you out and bring you back. The Black Beard Shop is right down the road so you can sign up for any tours or adventures while you are here. You really have to see the Bio Bay – it is probably one of the most amazing places you will ever visit. Also – I have been to just about every Island in the Caribbean – none of them compare to Vieques because Vieques has never been built on or built up (over 41% of the Vieques is nature reserve) and no one built when this island used as a target range for the US Navy. This was actually a blessing in disguise as you will find when you go Snorkeling or have an unbelievable beach all to yourself all day - this place is like no place on earth.

Most Professional Owner & Staff - you will enjoy your stay Cute Corner Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Well you will enjoy Vieques Island and it's amenities, Waylon Krush’s Vacation Home will see to it. A great get away from your daily schedule or routines, giving you the time to relax and enjoy what nature has to offer, especially for persons who love to be in the Caribbean, where white sanded beaches are the norm and a loose lifestyle to merge with it. Who ever you are enjoy your stay at "The Perfect Beach House in the City".

We really enjoyed staying here!

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was comfortable and spacious. We could walk easily to the center of town and to restaurants and grocery stores. The view of the ocean from the balcony is obstructed by buildings, but otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.

Great value in Isabel II!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed staying in this little blue apartment in Isabel II. Here, you are right in heart of island life, and be warned, it is NOISY. The neighborhood is very loud and you can forget about sleeping in. That is the downside. The upside is that you can walk to restaurants, bars, and shopping, and you really get a feel for the culture of Vieques. I loved drinking coffee on the balcony and watching the wild chickens and cats. The apartment itself is not luxurious, but it is cute, clean, and well equipped. It's a great value. The vintage lounge chairs in the living room area are amazing! Toilet paper and paper towels were provided. Also available were hand soap, dish soap, and cleaning supplies. Plenty of towels. We used the provided beach chairs and cooler every day with no issues. You'll also find basic snorkeling stuff, a beach umbrella, and beach towels. Internet connection is a little wonky (probably the case everywhere on Vieques). I loved how easy it was to book and pay for this place - no problems there at all, and the owner sent me all the information I needed to know. The water gets warm but not hot (solar heated). There were no board games, and we could get no channels on the tv, so do bring a deck of cards or something. Our favorite island beach spots: Pata Prieta, Sun Bay, La Chiva, beaches near Mosquito Pier.

Cute affordable house, though the owner needs to be way more on top to avoid dangerous situations!

  • 3 of 5

Let me start saying the house was as it looked in the pics, well located, cute and with many of the appliances you need for a short vacation. More, the owner agreed to give us the weekly discount in spite we were staying one less night (6 nights total). so that is something to be grateful for. However, we found quite a few minor and not so minor issues in our stay. The cleaning state of the house was far from being good. The broom was broken, one of the two lights in the kitchen did not work, 3 of the 4 bulbs in the bedroom lamp did not work, one of the ceiling fans rope was broken, there were a few roaches in the kitchen, the right wing of the balcony is covered by a black slippery substance that almost transformed me in a ballet dancer when I decided to venture on that area....and the list goes on. The owner did not even know what I needed to do to turn on the bedroom fan, and had to send over the house keeper to find and show us where the switch was, what gives you the idea of the core of the problem here: he is not around, and therefore is not on top of the house state and its needs. His house keeper, Ivan, was incredibly helpful and kind, and would answer immediately at any need, though, for example, the broom and the lights were not repaired until the day before we were leaving because the store with which the owner has an account was closed for holidays (?). Is that my problem? Just ask him to go somewhere else, my man, and get my a broom and a few lamps, don't you think? In case there is any reply by the owner questioning any of my sayings, I took pictures of every single detail, including the roaches, which are available to VRBO staff or eventual travelers.

But what takes me to write such a detailed review, is a MAJOR incident that took place on the second day, and for which I am still awaiting for an apology. I grabbed the toaster and received an electrical shot, and not just a light one. Fortunately, nothing happened and I was ok, just a major scare that left me unsettled for a few hours, with no physical consequences. But, what if it had been my son, your son, just a kid? How is it possible that you rent a house with a cable of the toaster burnt by heat (that was later noticed by the housekeeper, who immediately replaced the device) And after such an incident, Waylon, don't you think you should have called me IMMEDIATELY to find out if I was ok or needed something? I guess this lack of response from him is what upsets me the most.

Owner's Response: To put it simply most if not of this is a total fabrication. Emilio was actually kicked out of the great local guest house for his "issues" - had I known I would not have let him stay at my place. I sent Ivan over many times - yes to help him turn on a light switch, and yes to open the door - something I had never had to do before - but no problem. Then he started complaining everyday - I heard the toaster burned out and had one brought over right away - the rest of his story is news to me, but after dealing with him - not surprising. He actually told me the place was really clean when he arrived -and he is the first complaint I have ever heard about the place being clean - I saw the before pictures - so I am not sure I believe anything this guy says. He does ask for discounts and constantly asks for more money back - so that will hopefully make his intentions clear. I have lots of excellent ratings but sometimes your get people like Emilio (I was told) and now I know.

Has it all

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location: so close to everything without being in the middle of it all. All the amenities we needed were provided and even plush towels! Parking was always available right out front. Easy walk to groceries and some fun restaurants like Bieke's Bistro. We loved the roosters and the ocean breeze! It all worked together to make a wonderful island atmosphere. We had a great time and would recommend this home to everyone wanting to experience Isabel Segunda. Favorite beaches: Sea Glass, La Chiva, Playa Plata, under Mosquito Pier.

Perfect apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the apartment for a week and absolutely loved it. Everything was comfortable and everything you need for your beach excursions is all ready to go. The kitchen is fully equipped (including great pans and nice knives) and it is close to the market, which makes cooking very easy and convenient. The best part, however, has to be the lovely breeze that flows through the apartment from the wind and the ceiling fans. I hope I get a chance to come back and stay here again.
