Guestbook comments from the owner

We've had a wonderful Maine experience and hate to leave! You're recommendations were all good - Ruth & Wimpy's was great! Acadia, Bar Harbor, loon and hummingbird sightings, lobster & blueberry overload . . . ahhh! The home was fabulous - all the amenities expected and then some. I particularly love the chairs by the windows! What a wonderful setting for an extended family vacation. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Great Rental

  • 5 of 5

Gull Cottage was great for my family vacation. We had 5 adults and 2 teenagers. There was plenty of space for all of us. Everything is in good condition. The front porch is perfect for looking out at the water. About 45 minutes from Bar Harbor or Acadia. So, a bit of a drive, but a scenic one that never felt arduous.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay and the views from the deck at Gull Cottage. It's regrettable that the construction on Route 3 in Bar Harbor this Summer caused longer than usual driving times to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. Thanks for taking such good care of our home and we hope you will visit again.

The Gull Cottage was the perfect place for our family vacation and reunion.

  • 5 of 5

This home was a perfect site for us to gather our scattered family (kids, spouses and 2 grandchildren). The kitchen was equipped for us to cook everything that we desired. Sometimes we ate meals inside and sometimes on the deck.

The home is close to the ocean and we took the kayaks out in the bay several times (always early in the morning before the breezes started up).

The views from the house and the deck are great. One evening, we sat on the deck late into the evening watching the stars and the Milky Way.

The owners are very gracious and answered our questions promptly. The house has a book with brochures from many of the activities and the businesses in the area.

We made several trips into Acadia National Park and also drove to Campobello Island (the Roosevelt summer home) just across the border into Nova Scotia.

All in all, this was a great fit for our family. We had a great time.

First Vacation Home Rental

  • 5 of 5

My family and our dog Penelope stayed here and we loved it. It was our first time renting a vacation home since we normally camp in our camper. I was so nervous about not having certain things we might need, but everything we needed was there! Very friendly owners and very nice neighbors. This is a pet friendly community and quiet, away from the hustle of Bar Harbor but still close enough to enjoy the touristy areas when you want to.

Our stay at Gull Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family, including 5 little grandchildren and two dogs, rented Gull Cottage the last week in June, 2016. The attractive accommodations were perfect for a family gathering. The four bedrooms upstairs are well suited for the little ones and their parents while the "master on the main" provided some privacy for grandma and grandpa! There was plenty of indoor cooking, eating and play space for our crew. A spacious deck overlooking beautiful Frenchman's Bay provided additional hang-out space.

We enjoyed walks in the quiet neighborhood, exploring the rocky shore and kayaking in the kayaks provided. The owners, Paula and Barry, live close by and gave us information on other nearby places to explore and a nice clean lake for swimming. They even lent us extra tools with which to attack our lobster! The location is an easy drive to Bay Harbor, Acadia, and grocery stores!

We wish we could return every summer!

Thank you Paula and Barry,

Barbara and Don Kruse

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Gull Cottage and want to thank you again for taking such good care of our home. Thank you, as well, for letting us know that there was a shortage of lobster crackers. We were able to replace the missing ones before the next guests arrived. We do hope you and your family will visit us again.

Beautiful home, Gorgeous views

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with our daughter, son, daughter in law, and 3 grandkids stayed at this beautiful home in August 2015, and we loved every minute of it. The home is spacious and well suited for a large family. The master br is very big and with a beautiful view of frenchman bay. The same goes for the large deck which I particularly enjoyed in the early morning to view the sunrise or fog rolling in, or just watching the hummingbirds. The views of frenchman's bay from here are gorgeous. Our family drove the 30 minutes to Acadia every day and the views were stunning. Barry, were gracious and vert accomodating. One evening we had car problems at a store parking lot a few miles away, and when I called Paula for recommenations on auto repair shops, she and Barry dropped what they were doing to gives us a ride home. Fortunately we were able to jump start the car and the ride was not necessary. This was truly a memorable vacation and we highly recommend Gull Cottage to anyone with a large family.

Great house, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We've been coming to Maine for years, but never as far north as Acadia. This is a great house, with all the amenities. We loved paddling in Frenchman's Bay, lobster on the deck and found a wonderful place to swim near by in a lake. The proximity to Acadia is great. We went to the park several times to hike. There were 5 of us and we could have easily fit more people. The owners were next door. They were very helpful but never intrusive. I would definitely go back!
