Laurel Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Massive Loft: 3 bdrms+ 2 sleeping lofts, 2 baths, Farm Views, high end kitchen

Description:

Enjoy wine tasting and award-winning vineyard touring at the tastings held each weekend. Magnificent 3bdrm, 2bath, 4500sq.ft loft; enormous greatroom, gourmet kitchen. Breathtaking farm views, landscaped backyard w/dining table for 12, modern appliances/entertainment system, centrally located amidst vineyards/farms, 3-car parking (more if needed), private entrance, contemporary high end décor.

Unique modern, open loft space perfect for cooking, entertainment, and just relaxing indoors or out. Located smack in the middle of Long Island wine country, nestled between three of the finest vineyards on the North Fork.

Full access to all apartment amenities, including fully appointed kitchen, barbeque, fully stocked with wine glasses, china, etc. Easy and quick access to both Sound and Bay beaches. Near Love Lane, which boasts true gourmet shops, and the Mattituck Shopping Center with supermarket, drug, and snack shops, as well as a Cineplex with 8 screens. All appliances and electronics are accessible, including cable TV, Wi-Fi, hi-end music system, kitchen appliances and accessories, washer/dryer, etc. A housekeeper and groundskeeper are available for special requests, as are the owners, who live nearby. We will make every effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We love the North Fork and want you to as well.

Happy to advise guests on what to see and do on the North Fork. We will greet guests on arrival and familiarize them with the area and the apartment.

Mattituck is right in the center of the North Fork, equidistant from the Tanger's Mall on the one hand, and charming Greenport on the other. It is in the heart of the North Fork Wine Country (Bedell Cellars, Corey Creek, Lenz, etc.) as well as the finest farms and produce vendors (Sang Lee, Satur Farms, etc.)

There are magnificent beaches on both the Sound and Bay sides that are peaceful and never crowded. Marinas abound where you can park or rent boats and watercraft, or you can partake in the 'agritainment' on nearby farms for Pumpkin Picking, Hayrides, Night Mazes, and more.

The North Fork has much stricter zoning than the South Fork, as well as much more protected land, so you will experience true farmland and vineyards, vs. developments and overpopulation. It is literally the best of both worlds, the beach and the country.

There isn't too much local transport, although the Jitney and trains that service the North Fork make it easy to get here. There are several car rental offices. Bicyclists have made the North Fork a prime touring location, and many bicycle and motorcycle groups can be seen regularly enjoying the smooth roads and enthralling landscape.

Each of the towns on the North Fork has its own charm, and all are within a stone's throw. Greenport, a fishing village, retains its charm with great seafood restaurants, massive docks with tall ships, yachts and private vessels, plus seaside attractions (ex., Preston's, Claudio's, Scrimshaw, etc.) and many fascinating shops.

Orient Point has its own magic, secluded charm; and Southold, Aquebogue and Laurel each offer special places to visit.

The Greenport Ferry is a ten minute ride to Shelter Island, and the Orient Ferry takes one hour to reach Connecticut. But chances are, once you're on the North Fork, you won't want to leave.

Review Verbatims:

We had a great time at Michael's beautiful loft apartment. The entrance overlooks a pumpkin patch, the location was great for all the vineyards and local farms, and the great room was huge, bright and airy. All of the furnishings are very nice and the kitchen is very well stocked for anything that you would need to cook. Michael and his wife were so friendly and responsive to any questions that we had. I hope that we will be going back soon.

'Pictures don't do this loft any justice - it's even more beautiful in person. We walked in and were in awe of the space. Normally we are the types to go out to eat, but the huge, fully stocked kitchen made us want to stay in and cook. It was a great place for a girls' weekend. The hosts were wonderful and gave great recommendations on places to eat, shop, and explore. We will definitely be back!'

'It was a great experience. Beautiful home, great location, and welcoming hosts. We will be back!'

'Dear Gail and Michael I just wanted to thank you once again for being such a wonderful host.

From the space to the decorations and every detail, it was really amazing. I was blown away.

We had a memorable holiday and my daughter wouldn't stop saying how much she liked it there.'

We are friendly and congenial and take pleasure in helping people find out what makes the North Fork so great. We've been here for many years, but haven't forsaken our city sensibility, which we think makes our take on North Fork living appealing to our guests.

Michael Racz purchased this apartment in 1990

Why Michael Racz chose North Fork

Central location to everything magic about the North Fork, with unrestricted space inside and out. Huge loft and private back yard, yet total privacy. The North Fork offers the best of the country and beach, and with this NYC-style Loft, the best of urban design, too.

To a person, our guests have each been surprised at the attention to detail and the sense of style we have incorporated in the Loft. We designed and built it as if for ourselves, and apparently it shows.

For us personally, the North Fork settled a dispute between a country lover (me) and a beach lover (my wife). We are now equally at home in an area that has a true country feel, yet in a minute, feels like a beach in the South of France. The uncrowded population adds to this sensibility; there ain't no crowds in the real country.

Meanwhile, if your group is a crowd, this might be just the place. We've been told that when groups travel and have to stay in multiple hotel or motel rooms, not only does it cost a fortune; it puts a damper on the evenings. Here you can all relax together and drift off to bed when you feel like it, not when every one else does.

Without exception, everyone who stays at the Loft says that our pictures do not do it justice. (Should we be flattered about the Loft, or insulted about our picture-taking abilities?) Our guests have also told us that the rates for their groups compare very favorably per person to hotels and motels in the area, especially when the facility for group interaction is taken into account. (No fun having a party in a motel room.)

What makes this apartment unique

Perfect for family, group of friends or couples, looking for a North Fork getaway. Instead of renting a bunch of nondescript hotel/motel rooms, and having no place to relax together, the North Fork Loft is a perfect solution. It's like renting a giant ski-loft on the East End with plenty of separate sleeping accommodations, a massive common area (that's exclusively yours), and all the conveniences of home. Complete privacy including your own driveway and ample parking, secluded backyard with barbeque and dining table, and a stone's through from anything you might like to do on the North Fork (swim, boat, shop, wine and dine, buy farm fresh produce, etc.)

Magnificent farm views from every window. Total privacy. 4500 sq. ft. loft with high-end, 60ft. long kitchen with every piece of equipment a gourmet chef could ask for; massive great room with 14 person dining table, central seating area for as many, or groups can huddle around the eat-in island or breakfast nook. Designer furniture and fixtures, high-end home theater equipment, dedicated PC station and Wi-Fi throughout and Cable TV or DVDs, huge back yard with permanent dining table for 8-14, barbeque, parking for 3 cars, complete privacy (no other guests), central heat and A/C, modern art decor, large best-seller library, and friendly, helpful hosts who will make sure your stay on the North Fork is as enjoyable as possible with info on the best restaurants, vineyards, and must-see, must-do suggestions.

Great girls weekend location

  • 5 of 5

For the 2nd year in a row, my girlfriends and I have rented this amazing space in Mattituck. It is so roomy and homey and not to mention private. The loft has room for a big family size meal and the kitchen is great to work in. The common space is bright and airy. The bathrooms could stand to have some more outlets for hair drying etc and maybe better lighting. The bedrooms get nice and dark for a good nights sleep. The beds could be a bit more firm and a pillow top would be great but wouldn't deter us from booking again. There are four beds in the loft, all full sized so plenty of room for a large group. The land lord is amazing to work with and stopped by 2x on our first night to assist on a couple of requests. This is a great place to rent while visiting vineyards in the North Fork!

Great!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend rental. The location was great. The owner was terrific and made us feel right at home. The beds in the bedrooms were a bit uncomfortable and hard but that is probably just a personal preference. We had a large group so parking but somewhat tough but the owner did everything he could to help us out and was patient with us when we were blocking him in! :) Overall we were extremely satisfied with the rental and would highly recommend it.

Wine weekend with the Girls!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures for this house do not do it justice, it is beautiful inside! We came for a long weekend to do wine tastings and enjoy the area. The location is perfect as it is surrounded by the different wineries. We had a blast and I would definitely come back and rent this house again!

Spent a long weekend at this beautiful home for a 50th birthday celebration with 9 women. It was absolutely perfect!!

Spacious kitchen was fully equipped with every gadget you might need for preparing a gourmet meal. A huge kitchen table and island plus plenty of seating in great room. The space is clean and fresh and welcoming. We loved it!

We will be happy to guide guests and share our insights on what to see and do on the North Fork, as we have lived here (and still in Manhattan) since 1984. We will greet guests on arrival and familiarize you with the area and the apartment.

Mattituck is right at the epicenter of the North Fork, equidistant from the Tanger's Mall on the one hand, and charming seaport town of Greenport on the other. It is also right in the heart of the North Fork Wine Country (Bedell Cellars, Corey Creek, Lenz, etc.) as well as the finest farms and produce vendors (Sang Lee, Satur Farms, etc.)

There are magnificent beaches on both the Sound and Bay sides that are peaceful and never crowded. The Sound offers a more active seascape; the Bay, a quieter body of water.

Marinas abound where you can park or rent boats and watercraft, go fishing on party boats or your rental, or you can partake in the 'agritainment' and Harvest activities on nearby farms.

There are always fun activities on the weekends, including Flea Markets, Antique Shows, Arts & Crafts Fairs, Car Shows galore, even tractor pulls. This is still true country living, despite being so close to the city. The North Fork is literally the best of both worlds.

The Hampton Jitney and LIRR trains that service the North Fork making it easy to get here. There are several car rental offices. The Greenport Ferry offers a ten minute ride to Shelter Island, and the Orient Ferry takes one hour to reach Connecticut. On the other side of Shelter Island, a 2nd ferry takes you over to Sag Harbor/Hamptons. But chances are, once you're on the North Fork, you won't want to leave.

Notes:
Owned by two native New Yorkers (born and raised in Manhattan), this Loft represents our concept of what country/beach living should be. All the style and comforts of an apartment, while preserving the full feeling of being in the country. The location was chosen as a perfect compromise between the country (my love) and the beach (my wife's). It offers the very best of both: amazing water activities combined with the lush, bountiful produce of the farm. We happily share our 30 years of North Fork living with out guests, which range from recommending restaurants that will thrill a NYC reviewer to the farms and fisheries where the NY restaurants source their ingredients. Activities: boating, flying, kayaking, biking, hiking, swimming, jogging, yard sale hunting, antiquing, shopping, cooking, wine tasting, wildlife observing... and more. And, if you can't resist a bargain, the area's largest outlet mall is just minutes away. NOTE: The town requires a 14-day minimum for short rentals.
