Perfect for sailors and close friends, this loft-style space just says 'cool'!
Mid-century bunk bed and trundle, plus a futon if you don't like the singles. Just steps to Thames Street and Bowen's Wharf, this is as close as it gets to Newport's best restaurants, shops, and bars.
If you like unique architectural spaces over the standard unmemorable room, this is for you. More hip and fun rather than luxurious, you will ending up loving this space. But being at ground zero for all Newport has to offer, you will have trouble staying indoors.
The building currently houses a small office upstairs and an antique store adjacent. There is no on-site parking, but a public lot is just a block away.
Racing sailor, aspiring polo player, and a world traveler who seeks out cool places to make a trip more memorable.
Jed Pearsall purchased this studio in 1992
This property is one of Newport's treasures-- a landmark building that combines historic accuracy with architectural creativity. It is just steps away from all the action of Newport, but the living space s secluded and quiet.
This is for those seeking a fun, unique place rather than a luxury hotel. Cool and hip, it's more SOHO rather than Park Ave. Mid-century modern furniture by renowned designer Adrian Pearsall. Trundle and bunk beds replace traditional arrangements-- but you won't want to be sleeping with all of Newport at your doorstep.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay! Michele was incredibly helpful and responsive from the time of booking throughout our stay! She even came to the apartment after our arrival on Christmas Day to help with getting the heat going! Sweet gifts awaited my two daughters, snacks and drinks were replenished during the week - we were so well taken care of! The proximity of the apartment to everything we love about Newport was just perfect - we love walking everywhere and the location made that possible even in cold weather! We hope to stay here again - thank you for a wonderful visit, Michele!
If you are looking for a place to get ready for the day and head out into town, which is the whole of idea of being here, then this is the place for you. There was enough room for 4 of us without being crowded and the place is a lot larger than the pictures show. The amenities were simple but not less than what you would get at a hotel but you have much more room. It was a great location that the only time we needed to use our car was to go the cliff walks, everything you needed was in walking distance. I had no issues with heat or a/c and for the price compared to everything in the area can't be beat. I had friends stay at a hotel close by that had way less space and paid a bit more than me. Michele was quick to respond with any questions I had and I would definitely rent from them again when I'm in the area.
A simple, but roomy place to stay. Location is great, right by the middle of town, but far enough off of the Main Street that noise isn't an issue. Jed and Michele were extremely accommodating.
Well you'd like this place if you are five bros on a weekend to Newport. Or say a sailing crew fresh off a catamaran. Or your friends offered it for free for the weekend. But we with two small kids found it lacking for the $$$. The air conditioning from the front offices froze us at night. The entire building fans were below the room, constant machine din. Wiiiirrrr! Clunk chunk wiiiirrr... No bowls to eat out of. Super high modern furniture that left the kiddos eating on the floor. I think I recognize the dishware from west marine. The bath fan blew hot air in rather stale air out. Found old pair of Mens underware behind bed. The beds are ALL twins. Everything above 5.6' dusty.... As if the house cleaner was 4.8'tall. Dust bunnies in a modernist setting just says we don't care.
The positives... Great location for partying down by the scene. Very cool boat art and a very sweet drawing by the owner at an early age.
Yeah not bad but not great. The owners need to run a performance analytic and discover the truth that they need to step up their game. Nuff said.
We had a great stay at the firehouse loft! Very clean, nice bedding, cozy. It is in my opinion, probably the best location! We parked the car on Friday and didn't get back in till Sunday, we walked everywhere! Just far enough off the main street that there is no town noise. If we find ourselves in Newport again, we will definitely be staying here.
This was the 2nd time that we stayed at this facility for a week during the Newport Jazz Festival. The location cannot be beat. The property was well maintained and clean. We will try and stay there again next year. We highly recommend it to our friends. Our favorite local restaurants and pubs were White Horse Tavern, Buskers, Benjamin's, The Black Pearl, The Clark Kent Cook House, Lucia's, and Handy Andy's Lunch and Breakfast Diner (on lower Thames).
