About Al Plan
We are both teachers here in Seward and bought this house to share with others the beauty and comfort that Seward has to offer. We moved to Alaska to work for 3 months and 6 years later we are still here! We feel extremely lucky to have found work in Seward because it is the most amazing place we have visited in this incredible state. The remoteness of Seward, its beauty and its amazing wildlife keep us astounded daily. We hope that you get the same feeling that we do while you are here on your visit. We are extremely happy to have you stay with us for your adventure and would love to turn you on to anything that the area has to offer.
Al Plan purchased this House in 2013

Wonderful home in Seward!
We stayed at Anchor House in Seward, AK for 5 nights and wish it could have been longer. Al and Nicole were excellent hosts and we found their home to be very comfortable and convenient to downtown Seward. Six adults stayed and we had lots of room to relax, gather and plan our days. We could walk to restaurants, shopping, waterfront, hiking trails, Sea Life Center .... so many activities. Having the owners live below us was a plus, as they were readily available to answer questions and offer advice when we asked.
The kitchen was well equipped, beds were all very comfortable, the laundry facilities were much appreciated and the views were beautiful! We would definitely recommend this home for a stay in Seward!
Wonderful House w/ Creaky Floors
This was a great place to stay. Housed our two families for a total of 8 people really well. Plenty of bathrooms and beds. The kitchen was fully stocked and lots of places to put your feet up.
The reason for 4 stars is the floors were extremely creaky and the doors were hard to open and close upstairs. The only thing I would remind you to bring is laundry detergent it is not provided.
Lovely house in town
This cottage is much larger and roomier than it looks in the pictures. My extended family of 7 stayed here for several days in August and found it very clean and comfortable. We could actually spread out and do different activities (read, visit, watch TV, play games, etc.) or come together for meals in the dining room. We had a car, but really you would not need one, as it is easy to walk to town, the docks, the aquarium, the start of the Iditarod trail, a waterfall, and serious hiking if you are up for it.
My 9-year old grandson loved the aquarium, in fact the adults enjoyed it very much too. In fact so much my grandson and his mom went back a second time. Lots of shopping and restaurants, cafes, bakeries, etc. in town. We also did the 6-hour boat trip into Kenai Fjords NP. As it turned out, that was the only completely sunny day we had during 3 weeks in Alaska, and it was glorious! Seeing the snow capped mountains, tidewater glaciers and the humpback whales was one of many highlights of our trip.
Gorgeous views and a perfect host!
Al was the perfect host. He made us feel right at home in his lovely home. He communicated well with us and made sure we were settled in and loving our stay. We had lots of room for the 8 of us and enjoyed our family bonding on our Alaska adventure. This was one of the best experiences we've had on VRBO. Al and his home in Seward was more than what we had expected. Thanks Al!!
Al and Nicole were awesome and so willing to help however they could. They were flexible and so easy to work with! We wished we could have stayed longer! Thanks for everything!
