These 4 individual condos located in the middle of Mission Beach can be your family reunion tradition, or a gathering for your favorite 4 families. All units are in one building and are adjacent to each other and can be combined to make two units if desired, with suite doors between units on each floor. There are FOUR parking spaces in the rear of the building, one for each unit.

The complex is owned by a single owner, and all condos have numerical keyless entry code doors, negating the need for keys. All units have internet and cable TV with DVD. The entry codes can be programmed for one master code, or can be programmed for 4 different entry codes for more privacy. There are three different patio areas, 2 on the ground floor, and a rooftop deck shared by the top two units. These units can also be rented individually (see also VRBO listings 511939, 511940, 511941, and 511942)

About Paula Christensen

We have always enjoyed the San Diego area and Mission Beach in particular. We owned a farm and when we sold it, we had the opportunity to buy this building. We are happy to be able to share it with you.

Why Paula Christensen chose San Diego County

Mission Beach property has upgraded a lot recently and with new buildings being built all around, it was a good property to buy. The area on the beach where Casa de la Playa is located, is a quiet zone between the bars and cafes of the Crystal Pier area, and the roller coaster area of Belmont Park. We enjoy the beautiful sunsets and dolphins we see out the front window.

What makes this condo unique

Casa de la Playa is an easy walk to shopping, and restaurants. You feel safer because you are close to Lifeguard station #19, and surf schools teach surfing right in front of you on the beach.

Notes:
Using Casa de la Playa as a 'home base' for exploring San Diego, a family or corporate group can 'be together' or have some privacy. Having a lifeguard station right by the units allows families security for the children. Being able to sit and watch the people walk, bike, and skate by is entertainment itself. Night life is far enough away to not be intrusive, and close enough to walk to if you desire. Casa de la Playa is a 10 minute walk to the Catamaran Hotel if there is a convention there. It is also a short drive to downtown San Diego and the Convention center. The local bus line takes you directly to Sea World, so no parking fees needed!

Amazing location!

We had a great time here! Can’t beat the location - right on the beach, walking distance to everything. We had 18 people (16 years old and up) and were comfortable. The kitchens were well-stocked, although we could have used a few more bath towels and a grill brush. But we made do. It was great having a washer/dryer (bring quarters if you plan to use). Paula was great to work with and answered immediately when we had a couple of minor questions. My only complaint is that since it is 4 separate units, there is no single large family room or dining space to accommodate everyone. It would have been nice at night to be able to all play a game together or watch a movie. And on the cold nights, it would have been nice to fit everyone inside a single unit to eat together. But it seems all large units in this area have this multi-condo layout, so I don’t blame this unit. At least the 2 upper units connect to each other, as do the 2 lower, so the people in those adjoining units felt a bit more connected. We would definitely recommend it to any large group wanting to go to Mission Beach!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We instruct the housekeepers to leave 8 towel sets per two bedroom unit and 5 towels sets for the one bedroom unit. This allows you to have a spare set for emergency use. There should have been a grill brush. I will make sure that one gets delivered for each condo. We are glad that you found the units convenient for groups. The dining space IS geared for the individual units, with tables that seat 6 in the two bedroom units, and a table that seats 4 in the one bedroom unit. The patio tables add an additional seating for 10, but if everyone wants to sit at a big table, a large group would need a banquet hall! We think that other than the dining options, the units are great for groups, allowing privacy, and yet the ability to be close to each other. we hope that the positives outweighed the negatives, and that you can return again to our "beach houses".

Great place to stay!

We LOVED our time at the Casa De la Playa. It's location right on the ocean was perfect. We had a large group (21 people) and found it to be very comfortable. There were beach toys in the closet and we purchased a few more body boards and left them there for future guests. It has all the pots and pans stocked for easy cooking, and plenty of towels. Note: you do need to bring your own beach towels). We would love to stay here again.

We love repeat guests, and if you decide to return next year at this same time, the calendar is blocked for returning guess for the year in advance, and open 11 months in advance for general bookings. Thank you also for the boogie board additions to the beach closet! We always encourage guests to check that closet first before they buy sand toys, etc. Sometimes there are umbrellas, beach chairs, and other things that guests have left. Thanks again for visiting our "beach home".

Great location, very clean and well-stocked to service many guests

Our family of 20 spent a week at this property and absolutely loved the way it is set up. Each of us had plenty of space and great sleeping accommodations. The kitchens were well-stocked with anything you would need including blender, crockpot, cooking trays and large pots and pans to cook for a crowd. The location is centrally located on Mission Bay in a safe area and the parking is convenient. Paula was very friendly and available for assistance. We cannot wait to return!

Owner's Response: Casa de la Playa Group rental can accommodate 22 people if using all four sofa beds in the four condominiums. But each unit can still be separate from the others if the suite doors between the units are closed, allowing extra privacy. We try to provide enough cooking pots and pans for a larger group. This makes it easier to feel like you are "at home" on vacation, and have what you need. We hope that you can return again to our "home on the beach". The group listing opens up 11 months in advance of date of stay.

A PERFECT week Casa de la Playa on Mission Beach!

Our family of 13 spent the week at Paula's beach house and it was a PERFECT week! Great property! Great location! Paula was so wonderful to work with and whenever we had a question she took care of us right away! We can't wait to come back next year!

Owner's Response: We are glad you found Casa de la Playa, and we hope that you can return again next year. We try to make it a good value for a family group, and we encourage our repeat guests to return by allowing them first choice for the same dates in the following year. After a month, we open the booking calendars (about 11 months in advance) for all guests. We encourage return guests to make a reservation before that month grace period is over, because we want to make sure that you are able to reserve the dates you want. The GROUP listing for Casa de la Playa gets blocked sooner than the individual listings, because if one unit is booked individually, the whole building cannot be booked. We hope that you can return again to our "beach homes"!!

Great Family Spot

Overall great location and perfect setting for a family. We took 17 (9 kids) and all fit comfortably. Close to everything and yet quiet. We did have some beach towels stolen so don't leave anything out. Draw back is that it doesn't stock enough bathroom tissue for large groups as well as no beach towels, pack and plays, umbrellas or chairs or anything geared for families with children yet it brags "family units" we were lucky as other families left toys and boogie boards. We left some nice new boards, toys and a few beach towels so the next family would have some. Bring your own towels! Rental for a pop up is rather cheap which is nice so the babies/kids have shade. It is a nice rental with perfect beach access. Make sure you bring in all your personal belongings at night, we had a few towels and items taken from the front deck. I would recommend this for a family gathering spot.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you were disappointed with our lack of play pens and children beach toys. All we offer is whatever guests leave when they depart. These are available to all guests in the beach closet in the back of the building. Regarding toilet paper, the housekeepers should have supplied each condo with two rolls in each bathroom. We do not provide daily maid service, so additional supplies are not provided. We will confirm that the housekeepers are indeed leaving the starter supply. Regarding play pens and other equipment for young children, we direct guests to a San Diego company that sanitizes and delivers these types of supplies for a fee. There are many nearby options for renting beach supplies of any kind, and bikes. We have limited space for storing beach items, and it would be difficult to anticipate what ever guest would want and to keep it clean and undamaged. We do not supply beach towels as they often end up wet and sandy in our beach closet. Theft is always a possibility at any Mission Beach vacation rental and nothing of value should EVER be left on the front patio or visible in cars parked in back. We recommend renting beach bikes, because unfortunately, thieves are getting bolder and bolder.

Located in the middle of the Mission beach area, this 4 unit complex is in the "quiet" zone of Mission beach, exactly one mile SOUTH of the Crystal Pier business and restaurant area, and one mile NORTH of busy Belmont Park. You can easily walk to both ends of Mission beach, But you have a quiet area to rest at night! This building is located right by Lifeguard station #19, so you can be assured that your children are safe while they swim.

Check in time in the Group rental is 3:00PM, and checkout time is 10:00AM, unless previously arranged with owner, to allow the housekeepers adequate time to clean the unit so you have a perfect stay.
