This cute cozy condo is perfect for a getaway for a couple. It is located in a four plex with three 2-bedroom units, but is protected from the noise in the alley by the building on three sides. With the Pacific Ocean in front, you can listen to the power of the waves without worry, and stay warm and watch dolphins jump in the surf from your living room.

All the necessities of home are here. Password protected wireless internet, cable TV/DVD, and all the dishes and BBQ utensils you need plus your own patio with BBQ. Enjoy cooking or eating out at the restaurants within walking distance.

About Paula Christensen

We have long enjoyed San Diego and Mission Beach and always wanted to own something here. We got our opportunity when we sold our farm. Casa de la Playa is a departure from farming, but it has been an adventure learning how to make this vacation rental a comfortable place for us as well as you to stay while seeing all the wonderful things in this area.

Why Paula Christensen chose San Diego County

When we were finally able to afford to buy in San Diego, we found that this property was just what we wanted due to its central Mission Beach location, and since we have four children, it would be a good way to pass a 'Beach Home' on to them in future.

The benefits of owning Casa de la Playa for us is the fact that it is a place that we can enjoy also. We try to always maintain the condos in the best shape possible and are always updating the furnishings and keeping everything in good working order.

Beautiful view of the ocean

We loved waking up in the morning and seeing the ocean through the sliding glass doors. We loved hearing the sound of the surf while we barbecued on the patio. We loved having the boardwalk so close so we could bike or walk for miles.

The condo is conveniently located a block or so from Cheap Rentals, where we rented bikes for 3 days. It is also walking or biking distance to Ralph's grocery. There is a surf school nearby and we enjoyed watching the groups learn to surf each day. The owner is very nice and made it very easy to rent her condo. Thank you Paula!

Our stay

We always enjoy our stay. This year it was dampened due to all the rain storms, though CA needs the rain. Hope next year will be more sunny.

Great location and suite

Located right in the middle of the strip of Mission Beach and directly on the ocean front, this location is great for a San Diego get away. We enjoyed walking and biking on the ocean and lagoon (even though it was chilly in Dec), and it was great to have a parking spot as we drove to other San Diego theme parks/attractions. The living/dining area isn't huge, so keep that in mind when booking. But the pull-out couch was sufficiently comfortable and the bedroom is great. A nice, clean suite overall - would recommend it for anyone wanting an ocean front suite.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your remarks. We know that the one bedroom unit is small, but at 350 square feet, We made it as comfortable as we could. It is ideally suited for 2 people, although with the LAZY BOY sofa bed, up to four can sleep in the unit. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in San Diego. we hope that you can return again.

Fall is our favorite time of year on Mission Beach.....the summer crowds are gone and the weather is good. Casa de la Playa is more affordable per day if you are able to stay longer. Fun and can't beat the view .

We came in to a clean very cute place . There was more room than we expected and we were happy it was equipped with everything to bbq to baking pans . We enjoyed our vist and will be back Agian . Just wish check out was a little later .:)

Compact, Clean, and Convenient to eveything!

This one bedroom condo was right in the middle of Mission Beach, and right outside our front patio door was the ocean sand. The directions to find the address were easy, and there was a parking spot reserved for us in the back of the building. We had our own BBQ on the front patio, and it was pleasant to drink our coffee, and listen to the waves hitting the beach in front when the patio door was open. There were supplies for everything we needed in the kitchen and the bed was comfortable. The only drawback was that there is not a lot of extra space in the unit, but there was enough space to stay for a week and enjoy the ocean front location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We know that with 350 square feet, the condo is VERY compact, and is best suited for a couple, or a couple with one small child. It can occupy 4 total. There is not a lot of "extra " room. But with San Diego's great weather, most of the time you can sit outside on the patio or take advantage of the beach right in front of your patio door to soak up the sun and fresh air. We hope that you can return again.

San Diego is a tourist destination for many reasons. Its many Museums, Parks, Sport venues, and golfing, swimming and surfing make it a fun place to spend ANY season.

San Diego hosts many conventions and annual events, and its mild climate makes it a good vacation spot year round. Mission Beach is located close enough to down town San Diego to make it a convenient place to stay and still be able to work (if you HAVE to). Even on rare rainy days, the ocean surf is wonderful to watch and dolphins and sometimes whales leap out of the water while you watch from the comfort of your cozy condo.

Check in time is 3:00PM, and checkout time is 10:00AM, to allow the housekeepers adequate time to thoroughly clean your unit, so you have everything you need for a relaxing stay in San Diego.

Reservations may be made up to one year in advance unless current guests request those dates.
Stay funds refunded in full if reservation cancelled prior to 60 days of date of stay. If reservation cancelled within 60 days of stay date, funds held for a future stay unless unit can be re rented for the same time period.

10% off on multiple unit bookings.

Guests agree to make full payment of all funds before stay commences.

Deposits will be refunded after guests vacate, within two weeks, pending costs associated with damages or extra cleaning. Deposits will be refunded via same method as payments were made.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
