Located halfway between Belmont Park and Crystal Pier, Casa de la Playa is a perfect vacation spot for being ON the beach, yet close to all the attractions that the San DIego area offers.

Casa de la Playa is located in the 'quieter zone' of Mission Beach, far enough away from the Noise and crowds of the Pier and Belmont park, yet close enough to walk easily to any part of the Mission Beach area.

This 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom Condo has all the amenities you need to make your stay comfortable and the free, password protected, wireless internet keeps you connected. This unit can be rented along with 3679 Ocean Front Walk in the same building and connected via a suite door to allow a party of up to 12 people to share its 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a PRIVATE roof top deck only accessible by 3679 and 3683 Ocean Front Walk. It is perfect for a girls retreat, or two families, and the suite door between the units can be shut by either party for privacy.

This unit is part of a four plex all owned by the same owner, and pride of ownership can be clearly seen in its furnishings, and attention to detail. Each unit in the building has its own BBQ and assigned parking spot. All have Ocean Front views from the living rooms. All are decorated the same and have the same amenities.

About Paula Christensen

We have traveled to San Diego for work since the mid-1970s. It has been a spot we always wanted to be a part of, but were unable to afford, until we sold our farm. Our dream of beach ownership came true when we sold our farm for 'just enough' to afford Casa de la Playa.

Why Paula Christensen chose San Diego County

We liked the idea of four condos in one building because we have four children, and this would allow them to have a place on the beach of their own someday. Because we worked in the area, we knew that the Mission Beach area was rapidly becoming more upscale, and since we have purchased this property, we have improved its infrastructure, and added the features that make it more desirable (roof top deck for upper two units).

What makes this condo unique

The unique benefits of owning this condo, is that while you sit in comfort in your living room, you can sip your morning coffee and watch the dolphins and the surfers from the comfort of your sofa.

You can also enjoy more private sunbathing on your rooftop deck area.

We enjoy staying at any one of the condos in the building, and since the wireless is provided by two different carriers, you can be assured of 'being connected'

Fantastic condo on Mission Beach Oceanfront- at Lifeguard station 19

We have stayed at numerous rentals in Mission Beach- and Casa de la Playa was fantastic! This has been the best stocked condo with all the essentials. We normally travel with back up trashbags, papertowels, scissors, etc... based on a growing list of essentials that we have not found at previous rentals. This was much appreciated! The roof top deck was fantastic. The beds were extremely comfortable, and with the fans running inside the typical mission beach noise on strandway was much less intrusive than experienced at other rentals. The blinds were also darker than most- we felt like we were in a quiet cave- not always the case when you stay right on the boardwalk! All in all this was a fantastic condo, and we would highly recommend if you are looking for an ocean front condo centrally located to many restaurants and easy access to the watercraft rental companies on the bay.

Sometimes both upstairs units are rented by the same person, and since only the upstairs units have access to the rooftop, it is very private and secure. We hope that you can return to our "beach homes". We love repeat guests!

PERFECT No Frills Destination

We recently rented the 2 upstairs units for a party of six during Thanksgiving week. The accommodations were exactly as described. Everything was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all necessary cookware and dishes. The beds were comfortable; although we did not utilize the pull-out sofa bed and can't comment on it. The patios offered remarkable views with morning coffee. The rooftop deck provided ample space for soaking up some sun when away from the beach. The owners are very responsive and will answer any questions promptly. If you want to show-off then spend thousands more for a luxury rental. If you want to be comfortable AND beach-front select Casa de la Playa. You won't regret it!!!

We had a wonderful 4 weeks at your rental. It was a fantastic view of the ocean and all of the beach boardwalk activities. Great fun.

Great place to spend a week

The mattresses are only two years old, and even though they are Sealy "pillow top' we have found them disappointing. We will have them replaced this November when we do the semi-annual deep cleaning. We hope that you will give the beds another chance.

Big Disappointment

We have been using VRBO for over 15 years and this unit was, by far, the dirtiest and badly cared for we have ever experienced. The tile floors may have been damp mopped, but not washed. I mentioned it to the owner and she said she gives them a good clean once a year, Please! And heaven knows when the carpets were last shampooed, we picked up bits of things during our stay. I wore a pair of sox for less than 24 hours and they were black. There was sand all over the patio furniture and the patio (off the living room) was filthy. Every surface in the unit was sticky and dirty, feeling as if it had never been dusted or wiped. We have lived on the ocean and this is not the salt air, but no regular maintenance.

The beds are at the end of their life cycle. Very uncomfortable. Pillows not much better.

Beware of all the RULES ! You will be charged extra for not washing, drying and putting away everything in the proper cupboards, taking out ALL your trash, tidy up the unit and hang all towels, all before leaving at 10:00 am. Any personal belongings left behind will NOT be returned

While this unit is in a great location, we would suggest you look for a more welcoming and cleaner place to stay.

Owner's Response: We are a bit surprised by your comments, and are sorry your were disappointed with our property. For clarification purposes: 1) The tile floors are professionally cleaned by wet mopping between stays, and TWICE a year (November and May) they are deep cleaned with "Mr Clean Magic Erasers", to remove the beach tar that accumulates over the 6 months in between. Regular mopping does not remove beach oils and tar. 2) The carpets are vacuumed between stays, and the carpets and upholstery are steam cleaned every November and May, or as needed if heavily stained by guest use. August 20 is at the end of the busy Summer season, when the carpets are at their dirtiest. 3) Re: the sand on the two chairs and small table on the balcony, we did not check them. The property is beach front, and sand is sometimes carried upstairs, across the living room, to the balcony. 4) We are surprised you were disappointed with the housekeeping. We were there ourselves prior to your arrival to replace the microwave and door lock that had been damaged by a previous guests. If you had told us while we were on-site for 3 days, we would have addressed your concerns promptly. We did mistakenly leave a clean towel in one of the twin beds after we repaired the bed skirt town by a previous guest. 5) The mattress on the king bed is only two years old. They are Sealy "Pillow Top" mattresses. They have been a disappointment, though some people like them a lot. Every person has different tastes. We provide a variety of pillows, as different people prefer different pillows. We have never had a complaint about the twin bed mattresses in the second bedroom. 6) We do have occupancy rules. Among them, we expect guests to take out their trash, and wash their dishes, and hang up wet towels when they leave. We do not charge a cleaning fee, which perhaps some might prefer. Checkout time is 10 AM to allow the housekeepers time to clean the condos before new guests check in at 3 PM. If our inspector or housekeepers do find any personal belongings after checkout, we call the guest to see if they want them returned We can not guarantee that lost items are found, since we are not usually there on site, hence the "items will not be returned" language. We expect guests to understand that we will deduct the shipping costs from the security deposit. We did not know you had left something behind. Your deposit was returned promptly and in full.

Wonderful Vacation Condos for the Family

My entire family (parents, siblings, children) have been vacationing at these condos for the past five years. We always rent the top two condos because of the outstanding views of the beach and boardwalk. Included with the top two condos is roof access which has plenty of chairs, tables, and recliners. There are also two grills on the roof where we have had many barbecues, enjoying the weather and views of the San Diego sunsets.

The condos are very clean and have everything you need to enjoy your stay; TV, cable, internet access, kitchen with all necessary appliances and utensils.

My children absolutely love staying here. Mainly due to the fact that all you have to do is exit your front door, walk ten feet across the boardwalk and you're on the beach. Although the summer months can be busy in San Diego, the condos are conveniently located near the center of Mission Beach, and access to the condos by car is very easy and convenient. One parking space is provided for each condo.

When we had any issues, which were very minor (internet down, a change of sheets) the owners responded immediately, and were very easy to contact through emails or phone calls. All issues were addressed as soon as possible.

The photos on their website are very accurate and both units look exactly as depicted.

I would definitely recommend these condos to any friends and/or family without a second thought.

I can't say enough good things about the Casa de la Playa Condos. There is a reason my family continues to vacation here every year, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

The location of Casa de la Playa is right in the middle of the beach area, far enough away from the busy commercial areas, yet close enough to walk to restaurants, etc. And with the beach and blue Pacific Ocean right at your front door, you can do as you like!!
