About Jamie Ellis

We are from Tennessee and excited to share Off the Beaten Path Cabin in Blue Ridge, GA.

Jamie Ellis purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Jamie Ellis chose Northwest High Country

We visited Blue Ridge in the spring of 2013 and instantly fell in love with the area. We had never owned vacation rental property before but knew that this was the location for us to begin. We visited many cabins in the area, but kept going back to Off the Beaten Path because it felt like home to us! We believe you will feel the same!

What makes this cabin unique

Several things drew us to Off the Beaten Path Cabin. One was it is a true log cabin. And best of all, it 'smells' like a cabin as soon as you walk in the front door! Another feature that drew us to this cabin was the huge wrap around porch! It's the perfect place to sit and drink your morning coffee or enjoy dinner with your family. We loved the loft area as extra space that could be used for an additional bedroom or a perfect place for kids! The other big plus for us was that this cabin was built in 2008, and it had been well maintained.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My first trip to this lovely area. We truly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for, a true mountain cabin. Loved the hot tub. Looking forward to our next visit in warm weather to enjoy the wrap-around porch. Highly recommend this property!!! For those of you on the coast, easy drive and closest mountains!! So much more to do than I expected, orchard, shopping in Blue Ridge, antiques, and lots of outdoor activities. Will definitely be back!!

OFF THE BEATEN PATH... CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

  • 5 of 5

Going to the mountains for Christmas had been a tradition that I enjoyed as a child and was something that I wanted to pass on to my children and now to my grandchildren. When you are in the mountains all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas rush stops...and the things that really matter are appreciated. The experience that was "created " for us by Jamie was perfect from the moment we drove up to the front door. The cabin location was perfectly nestled between the beauty of the mountains and a forest of trees. The cabin was decorated beautifully for Christmas in a country -cozy touch. The cabin was also move- in ready for a family of 5 adults, an energetic 5 year old and a toddler! The cabin was spacious -providing quiet spaces for everyone as well as a dining room that accommodated all of us. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary appliances and gadgets - making it easy to prepare and enjoy many of our meals right there.

The down stairs "game room" and basement apartment was great for night-time ping pong challenges and family game nites. It was also great for my daughter's family, providing a separate area for her and her husband and two small children.

Jamie did a great job in sending us information about what the local area had to offer in the way of things to see and do. The town of Blue Ridge was quaint ,providing hours of fun just browsing through the local stores and grabbing a bite to eat at Joe's Barbeque . We couldn't leave without purchasing something sweet at The Sweet Shoppe of Blue Ridge . I would suggest that if you are in the area at Christmas time ... if you want to eat out on Christmas Day make reservation weeks ahead at Harvest on Main. Another highlight was attending Christmas Eve service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and the Live Nativity in Morganton, GA,

We enjoyed a few day trips ,one to Rock City in Chattanooga, Tennessee - well worth the drive. We enjoyed eating at Clyde's on Mainstreet while we were in Chattanooga and walking on the River front.

On Christmas Day we drove to Helen ,Ga. It is true , it isn't always the destination -but it's the journey. The drive through the mountains -heavenly. There are always great spots for picnics...so come prepared (cooler, fishing poles)

We also suggest stopping at Mercier Orchards, for some amazing turnovers and cider!

The five days flew & my only complaint was there was just not enough time to see and do it all... so we'll just have to come back!

Perfect for a Youth Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My youth group stayed here for the night, as we were going white water rafting the next day. There was plenty of space to fit 10 teenagers and 2 adults. We all loved the cabin! I hope my family can take a trip and stay in this beautiful cabin.

Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a great get away from it all! We had more then enough space for 5 adults. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed spending time in front of the fire. This cabin is well furnished, clean and has all the comforts of home. We enjoyed shopping locally. We will return for another weekend stay.

A very and confortable place to stay. We had a great time at this cabin.

  • 4 of 5

The property is great, there is a little space for kids to run wild. We found it easy for the 6 adults and 3 kids in our party to sleep and hang around confortably. The kitchen was well equipped. There was a problem with the dishwasher not fully cleaning the dishes, but nothing major. The owner was responsive and helpful. I would love to stay there again.
