True parisians, my husband Luc and I have been vrbo owners for more than 20 years.
annette purchased this apartment in 2013
This large, quiet, sunny and safe studio is within two blocks from the house where we've been living for more than 30 years. This part of Montparnasse is great for it still has an old paris spirit with contemporary comfort and great food shops and restaurants. The Luxembourg gardens are ten minutes walk and great for jogging.
Rue Daguerre, named after the inventor of photography, has become very hype in the last years and is a fantastic spot to live in Paris for people who want to live like a parisian.
For a very reasonable price all year round, you can enjoy a much larger space than a hotel bedroom and easily cook your own meal with great fresh products available on the great rue Daguerre.
My husband and I have stayed in this apartment at the beginning of the year and wish to attest how much we like it! We like being away from the more touristy areas of Paris, but yet be in the middle of a neighbourhood and Parisian street life and this apartment suits all these needs. It opens onto a lovely private courtyard where you can look out your windows. One Monoprix supermarket is just steps away and is open late. They have everything from eggs to fresh fruits and vegetables to wine and liquor. However, the charming rue Daguerre is truly Parisian shopping at its best! You can buy fresh cheese, fruits and veggies from the green grocer, charcuterie, a wine store, boulangerie for those fresh morning baguettes. Countless restaurants within a stone's throw, in fact, if you arrive tired and hungry, you need walk no further than your front gate, turn either left or right, and there are places to eat. The apartment itself is a pleasure, tastefully furnished with a mixture of contemporary and traditional, as well as beautiful lithographies by Fernand Léger or Robert Delaunay-a visual feast! The kitchen is very convenient and has a large window-great to open kitchen window in warm weather! Bedroom is very quiet, with its own window for nice breeze. Very comfortable queen size bed bed with nightlights for bedtime reading. The apartment is exactly what it looks like in pictures. Its so cool and confortable, Just perfect location, and perfect apartment for 2.
location in rue daguerre area is as good as it gets--and the bed in the apartment is equally good.
apartment and bathroom are a bit small for more than two (we had our infant son and our granddaughter with us for some of the stay)--but we knew size of the apartment going in and it is more than worth it for the unbeatable location and great price.
we would certainly stay in annette's apartment again.
Great place to stay, worth the price. As other reviewers mention, it is a very small apartment and the floors squeak but that is appropriate for the price. Location is very good, very quiet but accessible and there are many markets and stores nearby. I would stay again.
Loved this studio appartment much better than a hotel . Very clean and Annette the owner was a dream to deal with .small bathroom but what do you expect in a studio in Paris !!!!! . I will be staying again on my next trip on January .
My partner and I stayed in this studio for two weeks at the end of July. We had stayed in the rue Daguerre area last summer and much liked being in a neighborhood a little removed from the busier areas. There is much to like about the studio: the building is quiet and the apartment faces the pretty courtyard. The bed is very comfortable, which is especially important for a longer stay. Internet access was easy and fast (we never turned on the tv). The fridge, microwave, and two burner glass stovetop work well. We tried the combo washer/dryer once. Washing went ok, but the dryer takes forever. We'd advise not using it but just hang your clothes on a hanger in the apartment (not out the window) to dry, which is what we ended up doing.
As others have noted, the bathroom is tiny. We have gotten used to this is Europe, though it is a little inconvenient not to be able to close the door for privacy and the sink built into the toilet tank takes some getting used to (the water merely runs into the toilet itself). The shower, though small, had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The two large windows do let in plenty of light and air. The floor does creak quite a bit as other reviewers have noted but we got used to it and tried not to worry about neighbors downstairs; we figured they were used to it as well.
The owner was quick to reply to questions or emails, both before our arrival and when we were there. I made a few suggestions for some additional kitchenware and a mid-weight blanket in a private email which she was receptive to and hopefully those items will be available to future guests.
In our opinion the location can't be beat, with good bakeries, shops, and restaurants nearby. We especially enjoyed the petit de jeuner at Cafe Daguerre, though we know it's a bit overpriced. Other times, I'd simply run downstairs and grab a baguette for a Euro for our breakfast (took all of five minutes). The studio is also close to both the Gaite and Denfert-Rochereau stations with ready metro access to anywhere you want to go.
We liked the apartment very much and would certainly stay again. Americans who haven't stayed in a Paris studio just need to be aware of the size differences. We found it comfortable and clean and a lovely "home" during our two weeks in Paris.
The location of this flat was very good for us - easy access from. Cdg airport via the rer, and short walk to Gare Montparnasse to leave. It also had easy, fairly close metro stops to get around Paris. We liked the neighbourhood, and chose to "come home" for dinner rather than stay downtown. Annette provided restaurant reccomendations, one of which we took advantage of, and it was excellent. It was also unbelievably quiet, especially given it was in the middle of a city! Our only comment, though it wasn't a big issue for us, is that you could not close the door when sitting on the toilet (!), but the open door did provide privacy from the rest of the apt.. Also, the floor was very squeaky around the bed, which not only woke up your partner, but concerned us for neighbours downstairs.
My husband and I stayed in Annette's flat for5 nightsatthestart of ouranniversarytrip. The location of her flats conviniently located with easy access to transportation (and a direct RER ride from CDG). It was exactly what we needed: private bathroom (albeit tiny) kitchen with laundry access, and wifi included. We walked an easily navigated transport and bounced all over the city.
Annette was easy to work with, responded quickly to emails, and checked in (via email) while we were there, and provided lots of resources for local eat and drink. We would absolutely stay here again, or any propertyAnnette owned/managed. It was the same price (even cheaper) than staying in a hotel and had more "perks" for us. I will gladly make my bed if it means I can prepare meals and not eat out for every meal
Rue Daguerre is one of the nicest permanent market street in Paris. Wonderful products, nice restaurants and cafés, the real parisian life!
