About Suzanne Mattera

The owners are Joe and Sue Mattera. After raising their family and living in Sarasota, Florida for the last 15 years, they decided to move to the mountains for a cooler climate and a more natural environment.

Joe, with a degree in architecture, has been building homes for over 30 years. He designed these cottages to be green built, non-toxic, energy efficient, and set into the natural environment to take advantage of the magnificent views and surroundings.

Sue has worked in Occupational Therapy and continues to do so part-time in pediatrics.

They have two grown children in college and a dog named Callie, who resides on the property.

Suzanne Mattera purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Suzanne Mattera chose Smoky Mountains

We were pleasantly surprised with this property. Once we started to selectively clear the land, the views turned out to exceed our expectations! Also, we fell in love with Weaverville. The small hometown feel has all the amenities you could ask for and yet only minutes to downtown Asheville and the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful views and close to everything!!

Asheville Area Adventure

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Weaverville cottage exceeded out expectations! It was comfortable, very clean and included all essentials. Best of all - it had a magnificent view of the mountains and countryside from every living area! Weaverville is a short drive from Asheville and is close to restaurants, shopping and activities in its own town center. We enjoyed a relaxed and rejuvenating stay in the Asheville area. Our hosts provided magazines, guides and literature to help us plan our days. We hope to return again soon!

Perfectly located and furnished for our mountain getaway trip!

  • 5 of 5

5 minutes from downtown Weaverville's shops and restaurants, 15 minutes to Asheville, and a beautiful 10 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Centrally located on the Parkway for an easy drive to ALL the fabulous trails on the BRP, and a nice short drive to the Laurel River trail too, near Hot Springs.

Nice yard for the dog; leash and dog bowls were there to welcome us all. We ate dinner in quite a lot - either cooked or take-out - and found the kitchen to have everything we needed. No need to buy sugar and all that little stuff you use, but we did contribute a jar of mustard... Sue was extremely gracious as well. I'd suggest this little cottage for anyone's next trip to the area.
