Welcome to our detached 1926 cottage, recently remodeled to a very high standard and was offered in 2014 for the first time as a holiday rental.
The cottage is quietly situated in the heart of all the attractions of North Park, an area of San Diego which Forbes magazine wrote and is home to craftsman cottages, cafes and diners, coffee shops, several microbreweries, boutiques, and the north park farmers market. The North Park theater and the Ray Street Arts District are also bastions of creativity in the area, and close by are Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo, while the beaches, and sights of downtown, are a short ride away.
This spacious fully air conditioned home has all modern amenities such as widescreen 4K UHD TV with generous AT&T DirecTV package and gigabit wifi internet. The beds, mattresses and bedding are all brand new, and the new furniture is offset by several vintage mid-century modern pieces in the bedrooms and living area. The large chef’s kitchen includes a 5-burner stove, oven and broiler, and integrated microwave. There is a CuZn UC-200 water filter connected to the cold water supply to the sink. The large refrigerator has an integrated ice machine
We are sure you will love having this home as your base for your San Diego vacation.

About Derek Pople
We bought this cottage as a holiday home and to be close to our daughter and family who live in North Park San Diego. We are English and can only stay part of the year in the US so we offer the cottage for rental at other times.
Derek Pople purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Derek Pople chose North Park
The cottage was built in the 1920s and has lots of character and original features, which attracted us. It is also very conveniently situated close to Balboa Park and all the great amenities of North Park, and we can walk everywhere. The climate in San Diego is amazing and we enjoy escaping from the English winters there.
Great stay for a small family!
Excellent location, and plenty of room for us & our two kids. We really liked that room two has two twin beds, and there were some toys and books that kept everyone entertained when we weren't off experiencing the zoo, museums, or all the tasty restaurants!
The house was great-- good neighborhood, centrally located, provided all we needed. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating.
Comfortable, cozy home
Our family of four stayed for a week. We chose to rent both house and casita, and my husband and I took the casita while the kids used the house bedrooms. Everyone slept well and had a little private space of their own, and it worked out nicely. The son who loves to draw took the room with the nice big desk. We immediately liked the house for its charm and comforts, and all week it was a wonderful place to come "home" to. We like to cook as well, and the kitchen was very well stocked for that. We were also pleasantly suprised how quiet the house is inside. It felt very private despite being in a dense and busy area. We appreciated the nice touches inside and the easy communication with the owners and family. Definitely recommended!
The house was everything we needed for our stay. The house is located in a cute and quiet neighborhood, few streets from nice restaurants . 3 minutes drive from Balboa park and 20 minutes drive from La Jolla. The house is clean and well equipped and furnished. We were a family with kids + a friend so the studio room was perfect for being together but also give privacy to our friend. The owner is really nice and helpful. I highly recommend this house.
North Park Cottage
The cottage is located in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego, an area known for its tacos and beer. Not disappointed in either of those - had good reasonably priced food and beer every day. The neighborhood is characterized by small cottages on small lots, some of the larger craftsman homes built in the early 1900's. The area retains a lot of integrity and the house we stayed in has been nicely preserved. A tasteful kitchen remodel with upgraded appliances and countertops much appreciated. It was comfortable for three grownups, four is pushing it, as the trundle bed in the second bedroom is really more suited for kids. Fans and air conditioning kept indoor temperature cool. Lots of people on the street in the early morning and evening, quiet neighborhood.
the house is really great - spacious, comfortable and clean. the area is fantastic - it is very close to balboa park and the zoo, also to a cool and hip area with lively restaurants. derek is a very kind host and we really enjoyed our stay.
