About Debbie Mills

We are originally from the UK & Canada, have traveled extensively in the US and Europe using vacation rentals. We have been coming to Portland for many years and love the city. It is a paradise for walking, cycling, eating and drinking, and you do not need a car! We have 2 places in prime locations, The Perch is one of them.

Debbie Mills purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Debbie Mills chose Oregon

The architects who converted this 100 year old house into 2 units did a great job of maintaining the old charm while adding modern amenities, we have recently upgraded the property again. It is a home from home in the absolute best area in Portland.

What makes this apartment unique

Walking distance to restaurants, bars, breweries, theaters, light rail, parks, the river, downtown & the Pearl district and the Timbers soccer stadium. There are lots of separate spaces to enjoy.

Lovely home!

What a lovely place to stay! Great location - can easily walk to Nob Hill or The Pearl District or Downtown area. The kitchen and family room upstairs are light and bright and so comfortable. Immaculate and well-supplied; even holiday decorations! The parking permit is essential if you have a car.

Clean, comfortable, close to everything rental!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at The Perch in late October. The rental was beautifully kept, super clean upon arrival, and was stocked with all the essentials needed for a weekend (or longer) stay in Portland. Loved the location of the house. It is walkable to so many great parts of town (including cute shops/delicious restaurants in Alphabet District, Pearl District and Downtown). Upon arrival we were thrilled to find a note, bottle of wine and some Stumptown coffee to enjoy during our stay. The three bedrooms in the perch were lovely - one with a king, one with a queen, and one with twin beds. The upstairs area was great for hanging out with TV, Netflix, music, kitchen and the most comfortable couch. The bird/"perch" theme can be found throughout the house in terms of décor which our group of 30-something ladies really enjoyed. We ended up renting a car so we could take a day trip to hike some waterfalls. A parking permit was provided and parking in the neighborhood was easy. We really liked the layout of the rental as well. If you're a bigger group there is a unit on the first level that can also be rented. For "The Perch" (the one we stayed in) the rental takes up the top 2 floors of the house, with bedrooms on the lower level and the living room/kitchen on the top level. Deb, the host, was so easy to work with and so accommodating for our group. We truly appreciated everything. And we are already daydreaming about another trip to Portland and will certainly look first to see if this rental is available when we do!

Great Apartment in probably the best location in the city!

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased with our stay at the Perch. I knew from the posts and pictures on vrbo.com that it was going to be nice, but the owners really thought of just about everything (I couldn't find a cocktail shaker, but that my be more of my problem :). We arrived to a welcome note, a bottle of Oregon wine and coffee from a local coffee roaster/shop...a very nice touch! The accommodations were so comfortable and the décor was so well coordinated. The location was perfect. We explored the Pearl District, the shops and restaurants on 21st and 23rd, we hit the downtown market, Blue Star Donuts and Powell Books on Saturday and we did it all this on foot. The street is located in a great (mostly residential) area with beautiful and unique homes. We had fun just walking in the area and checking out the houses. The owners provide a great deal of local information and suggestions in the apt. for places to go and things to do. Debbie was so responsive to any question I had prior to our stay. Overall a fantastic experience and hope to have an opportunity to visit the Perch again soon.

Perfect central walking location

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time at the Perch. It was warm, cozing, beautifully decorated, integrated great touches of Portland and fit our entire group. The location as perfect so that we could walk around downtown, The Pearl and NW 23rd easily. Couldn't have picked a better place to stay. I would highly recommend this place to everybody!

Debbie was very response and accommodating. The home was perfect in every way. It was in a great location that was central to all of Portland's best restaurants. The house was also stocked/furnished with everything you would need for a long, comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Stay in the Perfect Location and Home!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing stay at Debbie's place in NW Portland! We loved the decor, the location, the cleanliness and the fun character of her craftsman home. The pictures don't do the units justice as they are even more beautiful and spacious in person. Thanks for providing the perfect house for our ladies' getaway!
