Why Zoli Lundy chose Arch Cape
Fernhaven was first dreamt of nearly 40 years ago when architect Tod Lundy purchased the wooded lot in quiet Arch Cape. The dream was realized in 2009, when Tod and his two sons, Zoli and Justin, built Fernhaven together. They co-manage the house from Astoria, Oakland, and Portland respectively, and love to visit each other at Fernhaven with their extended family. Tod was first attracted to this little piece of land because of the giant nurse log that the house is set behind. The wooded lot sets a secluded, quiet mood even though it’s just minutes from shopping, dining, spas, and beaches.

Ultimate private getaway
We LOVED our stay at Fernhaven! The house has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable vacation. It's a gorgeous, artistic property that feels like a glammed-up treehouse. The beautiful Oregon Coast is a three minute walk away, which we wanted to explore for hours a day. Thanks for sharing this gem of a spot with us!
Great place for kids and dogs
We had a great time despite the weather. We couldn’t imagine being holed up in a hotel room with 3 kids and 2 dogs. At fernhaven we had a great kitchen and fireplace and dining room for games and s’mores and indoor fun while it rained sideways outside. When the sun did come out we were a block from the beach and we took full advantage.
An Oasis on a rainy weekend.
Fernhaven is a magical place even in the rain. It is spacious yet cozy, and every window frames a woodland vista of ferns or trees. The kitchen is very well equipped and the expansive dining table was great for a jigsaw puzzle and other rainy day activities. The wood stove made a cozy welcome when we arrived on a chilly afternoon while the heat came on. Heated floors in the bathrooms are a real treat. It is obviously a well loved home and we felt privileged to share it.
Two minor complaints: When we stripped the king size bed on the main level, there was no mattress pad and a rather unappetizing foam mattress topper, and the other main floor bedroom had not been well cleaned around the nightstands which I realized when I picked up some eyedrops which were left on the floor next to the bed.
Given the opportunity, we would definitely stay at Fernhaven again and hope for some non rain beach time.
Correction from the guest:
I am so sorry about the mistake in the rating!
I thought I gave you 5 stars! I am so techno impaired that I question my ability to go back in to change it....
Can you change it with my permission here in writing?
Otherwise, I will keep trying.
An enjoyable Holiday Stay at Fernhaven
Overall we had a very good impression of the property. The weather kept us inside but we had plenty of room for family activities, eg games, crossword puzzles, etc. Everyone had their own bedroom which was very nice but location of the upstairs bedrooms made it a bit difficult for the old geezer in the family. Also the lighting is not conducive to doing a lot of reading. We were happy we brought most of the food we needed for our holiday meals as well as ancillary cooking vessels for certain specialty dishes. Despite the Internet comments, local shopping was a bit dismal. The kitchen was very well equipped for our epicurean pursuits. Our son was the chef, I was the sous chef and we had some great meals!! We tried to comply with all of the requests in the manual on the counter. My suggestion - rewrite it in a more renter friendly way. And a little more direction would be helpful, eg where to put the garbage container for pickup. Lastly we feel that if you are going to supply emergency lanterns for power outages, get ones made in the good old USA because the battery explosion which blew one of the three into shrapnel really scared the family. I have already mentioned this and I removed all of them but Fernhaven potentially could have gone up in smoke. Thank you again for offering your property.

Enchanting forest getaway
We really enjoyed this enchanting home tucked into the edge of the forest yet highly accessible to the beach. It was very roomy and accommodating. The heated floors in the main bathroom were dreamy. You can tell that it's a dog friendly home, as there was some dog hair and stains on the couches, but as we are dog people, this was only a slight detractor. Our overall impression was positive. The artwork, which I believe is the owner's work, was amazing, and added to the overall ambience of the home. Our only real disappointment was that it rained so much while we were there that we couldn't take advantage of the outdoor fire pit.
This is a beautiful space in an ideal location. It works well for a multi-family gathering.
We love Arch Cape for it's quiet and this home in the forest is especially peaceful. There is plenty of space to spread out but the home remains cozy and the perfect setting to reconnect with family and friends. The walk to the beach is quite easy, as long as one crosses 101 with great care. We would return again and again.
Hiking here offers spectacular ocean views, plenty of lush flora, and occasional treasure troves for experienced mushroom hunters. The beaches are some of the most beautiful on the west coast. It's the perfect destination for those that love the outdoors, and also love a warm, beautiful place to come home to.
