About Cozy Cabins Property Management

Our full time home is on the flat plains of West Texas, and our dream was to one day build a cabin in the mountains of New Mexico. In 1997 we located and purchased a 1 acre lot in the Sun Valley area of Alto NM, and began researching all the different log home companies across the U.S. After researching the many log home manufacturers, we settled on Real Log Homes, and was given the name of Steve Nesbit of N&H Log Homes in Ruidoso NM. We made contact with Steve in 1998, and discovered a real friend, and a very knowledgeable person about building log homes.

After lots of discussion and planning with Steve mostly long distance from West Texas, we began construction in July of 1999. Steve was very patient in dealing with us, and holding our hand. My wife and I, along with our 2 children took 2 weeks vacation, after the excavation, foundation, and sub floor was ready, and began stacking logs.

We would definitely stay again!

  • 4 of 5

The house was a perfect match for the mountains. It's a very beautiful log cabin. It's main living areas are nicely appointed as well. We loved the basement. We enjoyed playing ping pong and foosball. The tv downstairs in the basement was the bigger of the two tvs in the house. The beanbag lounge bear was a family favorite. We got to see mule deer traveling by the house on our last morning.

Regarding location, it was convenient access to road to the mountain. It took us 30 minutes total to get to ski apache.

We were surprised, and I should have payed closer attention to the amenities, but there were no tvs in the bedrooms. We had trouble with the oven. I had casseroles made for each dinner. Each night we had to try and figure out the temperature that was equivalent to 350. I'm sure it needs to be recalibrated. Other than that, the kitchen appliances were fine. The sink faucet was tricky to turn off. You have to find it's exact spot to get it to turn off completely. We couldn't figure out if there was a shared hot water heater for all four bathrooms, because the master bathroom required HOT water because it's extremely drafty. There were several nights we waited 45 minutes for the water to heat back up.

The heaters in the rooms were too notch. They made it nice and cozy quickly. The switch for the fan in the master is faulty. After 5 minutes of trying to get it to turn on, I gave up and switched it back off, and it tuned itself on a minute later. The same experience happened in the guest bedroom with the attached bathroom.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.

Perfect Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly loved staying at the Grizz. The house is beautiful and looks like it belongs in the mountains with the log cabin appeal. So many cool details and decorations made the cabin even more outstanding. My grandchildren loved playing in the basement game room and on the balcony. The view is spectacular with the ski slope peeking over the mountain in direct view of the balcony. The stream down the hill is peaceful and a great place to enjoy nature. Every small detail of our stay was taken care of by the owners. Loved the location; outside of Ruidoso, but close enough to dine or shop in town. Clean, beautiful, comfortable, quiet...excellent location. We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.

Cozy, beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is beautiful and cozy! We love all the neat details and surroundings of this cabin (bear carvings in the stair case, antler lights, little stream at the bottom of the cabin, views of the snowy ski mountain and wild life). Thank you for sharing your lovely home. Everything was so tidy and had a real cabin feel. It was such a retreat!
