About Kathlynn Andrews

Kathy and Gerry spend most of the year in Alaska, but come to the Texas lake house whenever possible for the quiet and scenic location.

Kathlynn Andrews purchased this house in 2006

Why Kathlynn Andrews chose Pittsburg

In 2004 Gerry visited friends on Lake Bob Sandlin in November. He sat on the dock in 70 degree weather and enjoyed one of the most beautiful sunsets of his life and said, 'Some day I have to have that.' In 2006 this house became available.

Amazing, welcoming; Just wonderful!!

We had a fantastic stay! Absolutely no problems!

We caught and ate a lot of catfish, and we couldn’t keep the kids out of the water as they were having such a great time! We were there over the Fourth of July holiday and even though we were told we could let off fireworks by the dock, there was no need, as we could see everyone else’s surrounding “shows.”

The property manager was so kind and professional! The times we encountered him was very pleasant and sincere.

We were also very impressed by how well everything was in great shape and fully stocked!!

They even had sunscreen! (We don’t know if that was accidentally left by a former guest, but after we used it all and had to by more, we left our bottle to bless the next.)

Great property rental through and through!

Absolutely NO complaints, and we plan on going back soon!!

P.S- The sunroom is AMAZING!!!

Great location on big water on Lake Bob Sandlin. Comfortable and cozy log cabin.

  • 4 of 5

We spent 2 nights here with our grandsons. They loved the sleeping loft area upstairs. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. The sun room was great for indoor meals and games. The back yard was large with plenty of room for kids to play. House manager was helpful with any questions we had. The deck was nice but would be nicer if it was covered.

Perfect Home away from Home, Gorgeous Views!

I absolutely love this log cabin house! You are right on the lake and there are stairs going into the lake for easy access for swimming. We tied our boat to the dock and it is right at the house! The driveway is a little narrow, so you can't park your boat and trailer at the house. But, right down the road there are several public boat ramps. They had literally everything we needed, even board games for the kids when the weather wouldn't cooperate. There is a gas grill, fire pit, and even a canoe to use, just watch out for any snakes that might be hiding underneath. Vaugns Catfish Restaurant is within walking distance and all the food is excellent, especially the hush puppies and Catfish. We brought toilet paper and towels, but they have everything there ready for you. The washer and dryer was a major plus! We enjoyed the sunroom too. I highly recommend this house. I'm already planning my next trip here.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this rental is great! The photos don't do justice to the house or the views. We'd never even heard of Lake Bob Sandlin before finding this on VRBO. It is a beautiful house and a beautiful lake. The swimming is great and very safe. From watching the neighbor fish, the fishing is really good too. The manager is great for any needs you may have. If you're considering this house for vacation, stop looking. You've found it! We will be back next year.

i left a day early, but.....

Not because the house wasn't adequate because it was. The lake view is gorgeous, and the home has everything needed for a great weekend for an adult and small children. However my daughters are 12 and 14 and they brought a friend as well. Once they were out of data on their phone plans things got pretty unbearable for them and they made my stay pretty bad at that point. (their mother pays for a limited phone plan) There is no WIFI apparently. This shouldn't be a huge issue I understand, as most would be here to disconnect from the world and reconnect with family, but even with a jet ski that I rented and had delivered I could not keep them entertained and the lake was extremely hot in Mid- Late July, and uncomfortable to swim in overall it seems Bob Sandlin is a fairly shallow lake in comparison to many others and the top 6 feet of water is pretty warm this time of year. Plus the girls kept saying there were alligators! If there are they were not to be seen by myself. Well whatever, neither stopped me from swimming (alone) although it was very hot. I exercise a ton so I loved having a new place to go for a run and I love open water swimming. The dock needs a ladder as I believe it had at one time, getting out of the water at the dock is pretty hard even as an adult. I ran to the boat launch near the bridge 3 times and swam as far as possible in such hot water, but admittedly we all became a bit board. Nothing against the house or the lake it is just an unfortunate age of technology that we all live in and I didn't appreciate how huge that issue is, particularly for a teenage girl. Bored and unhappy children who will not go out in the heat, eat more food than I brought! I have never heard "what do we have to Eat" and "I'm Hungry?'' so many times in my life!... The incessant complaining finally did me in and I decided it was not worth staying another night and forcing them awake the next morning to leave by 10AM for checkout (2-3 hours earlier than they wake up) so we left at around 4:45 the evening before checkout and if they could hug WIFI waves I beliieve they would have. I know it is RIDICULOUS. *Owner was great, house was good but a tad warm upstairs & well stocked, lake view was great. For most people this place is fine. The lake it's self is a very pretty lake.

Almost zero boat traffic even on a Saturday. Cooler months I'm sure would make a difference on outdoor enjoyment..... & an unlimited data plan would help with indoor enjoyment. ;)

Owner's Response: The dock was damaged in a storm, and it was repaired enough for use, but a remodel is scheduled for September. For future guests, please know that there are steps leading into the water, and the ladder will be replaced with the remodel. There is no Internet because this is a lake house, which we mean to be used for retreat. There is television because keeping track of weather is so important. If you have your own Mifi, it does work at the lake. We have never had any sightings or reports of alligators in the lake, however, it is always good to be on the lookout for "critters" at the lake.
