Wow, wow, wow, where should I start. We have rented several houses over those years and this house has out shined them all. It is everything the listing promises and far, far more. The house itself is spotless, I have never had a rental house this clean before. This charming little house is also perfectly decorated, staying true to it's original aesthetics. All the bedrooms were nicely sized not cramped at all. The house was roomy and open. I loved the large mud/laundry room. It was the perfect size for us. The WiFi worked great and they even had HBO. Being huge Game of Thrones fans we were able to see the final episode. The house comes with everything you will need, just bring food and personal items. Don't forget the marshmallows because there is no better way to end your day then with a fire in the most perfect fire pit area. They even have 8 nice chairs and a picnic table down there. Sitting by the fire drinking a cold (or warm) beverage, listening to the waves of Puget Sound lapping up against the seawall while watching the beautifully lit ferry going back and forth was the perfect finale to each day.
Our days started just as peacefully, with coffee on the deck watching the seals play and sun themselves on the floating dock a few feet to the left. Seals, bald eagles, and otters were daily visitors. The seals monopolized the floating dock most of the day expect during low tide. The eagle must have a nest near by because we would see it several times a day. It hunted and ate by the fire pit area during low tide. The playful otters would show up in the evening. We would hear their chirping and chattering before we would see them. This was the one time during the day they would take control of the floating dock to play what looked like a game of tag. They were so cute!
The pictures do not do the mountain views justice. Mt. Baker in all it’s majestic glory can be seen directly off the deck. It is also directly framed in the kitchen window, so when I had to do dishes I had this beautiful sight to gaze upon. The weather was also perfect. It only rained the first day, the rest of the week was beautiful.
The house is conveniently located to the ferry and the quiet town of Kingston. Sabine the property manager was wonderful to work with. She was very prompt in responding and extremely helpful. Our stay was not long enough and we hated to leave. The countdown has already started, ticking down the weeks until we can return next summer.
The stars of this property are the view and the beach, which would be glorious on a beautiful day. Alas, we were there for a girls trip over a dark and rainy weekend, but it was still cozy and scenic. You can tell this home is still a work in progress with a few rough spots around the edges.
The two ladies in the bedrooms with the full size beds were pretty happy with their digs, though the two of us in the bunk room struggled a bit (mattresses were a bit saggy, sheets smelled a bit of mildew and a protective plastic fitted sheet simply had to go.)
Cons: The funky smell that an empty house gets sometimes. Some candles (provided) helped to take the edge off.
Yet, the neighborhood felt very safe, the value was good and it's a terrific location. This was one of the more modest homes on the block and I just love the idea of an affordable family vacation here in the summer when the fire pit, grill and other amenities would contribute to a truly memorable, and convenient, get away.
We rented the home for our family and my fathers 70th birthday since the kids were on spring break. The views are amazing and watching the ferry's come in and out was so much fun. The kids never left the beach!! We can see why the home is called Ferryland. We liked it so much we decided to stay one more night which was made so easy to do. We would highly recommend this home and hope to visit again soon. So close to home but still feels like a real vacation. Thank you so much for a great vacation experience!
My family of six returned yesterday from staying at this property for three nights. We had a fantastic time away, and part of it was due to where we stayed. The house is tastefully and comfortably appointed as well as spotless--a huge benefit of renting from someone who owns a professional cleaning business! Even the couches were vacuumed. The room with four bunks was perfect for our family, as most of the houses we looked into would have required our children to share beds. (Workable, but not ideal.)
The kids loved that they could just walk out the slider and through the yard and be right at the water. They didn't even have to change out of their pajamas to look for creatures first thing in the morning when the tide was still low. The view is incredible with Mount Baker and the Cascades in the background, and it's fun after dark to see the ferries all lit up as they go back and forth. The hammock outside the master bedroom slider was a treat as well.
Kingston is a nice town with plenty of places to eat and purchase what's needed as far as groceries, etc. The Grub Hut in particular is a family-friendly place to eat, and we all agreed those were the best burgers we've ever had. We also made the short drive to Indianola where we were treated with a stunning view of Mount Rainier and enjoyed walking out on the long pier and watching several people fishing for salmon while a seal chased the fish.
Don't hesitate to rent this property. You won't regret it!
