BEAUTIFUL & PRIVATE POINT OF LAND WITH UNBELIEVABLE WATER VIEWS WHEREVER YOU ARE
There is “no place like home”, and no place like this “home plus a one bedroom apartment above the garage. Apartment is fully furnished along with a kitchen and brand new bathroom with walk in shower.
With about a 360 degree water view…two private pocket beaches…inviting pier… wrap around deck…spacious interior… fully equipped kitchen…are all the ingredients for an amazing family memory. Water sports are easy here! Bring you boards, kayaks, fishing pools and a boat if you like!
Kids never get tired of the beach and the water. Our grandkids spend hours digging in the sand and find all sorts of treasures. The hardest part for them is deciding "which ones" to take home in a jar of sand.
Our home is perfect for your family vacation. It is and has been a memory maker for our family for many years. There's a special feeling of "home" as you walk in. Immediately you are captivated by the expansive view of the Patuxent River. Step out on the deck; the view to your left is entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, straight across Patuxent Naval Air Station, then to the right Thomas Johnson Bridge to St. Mary's county. In fact, there’s a view from every window! Mornings are beautiful with an always new sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay. To top off a perfect day pull your chair up for another spectacular sunset! You have a front row seat for both events.
Two beaches for enjoying the sun or taking a dip. You’ll find children spend the day searching for treasures, building sand castles or swimming! The large pier can accommodate many folks for fishing or crabbing and moorage for small boat, with shallow draft. Take a seat on the bench and wait for that fish to bite! Reel him in and clean him in the pier sink!
Our guests rave about our amenities, including appliances, spices, linens, towels, games, toys and the list goes on. Choose to prepare meals at home? You will be pleased with a very well equipped and plenty of room for helpers too! A gas grill sits in the corner garden area. A cool spot in the evening and very peaceful.
Take a stroll down the boardwalk, check out quaint shops, kids playground , gazebo, and public restrooms. Great restaurants for dining in or out, ice cream shops (2), charter boat fishing, boat and kayak rentals. New to THE PIER is a wine tasting room. One of our favorites is THE HIDEAWAY. Also, KIM'S KEY LIME PIE. See the welcome book for more info on restaurants in the area. Most restaurants have seating inside and out on the water. Be sure and make a reservation...busy in the summer. Fortunately, you have a lot to choose from.
The Calvert Marine Museum offers interactive play for kids. The exhibits are informative and historical. Don’t miss the otters! You can go through the Drum Point Lighthouse and take a daily cruise on the Tennison up the Patuxent River. The Oyster Museum is on island…oysters were and still harvested on the River. About 2 miles to Dowell Road you will find Anne Marie Gardens on St. John’s River. Beautiful sculptures along wooded trails, many things to do and see, don’t miss this.
There are many opportunities for “day trips”. Washington DC and Annapolis are within an hour. Please stop by the Solomon’s Island Tourist information center just as you come down the island. You’ll find a plethora of materials for all Southern Maryland and surrounding areas.
If you would like a relaxing, laid back and peaceful vacation, this is the place. Most folks “just hang out” at the house and enjoy the activity and scenes on the water. Seems there is always something new to see in this beautiful and private setting.

About Lynda Adams
The Navy brought us to Southern Maryland, a long way from my hometown of Whidbey Island in Washington State. As a professional Realtor for 25 years, I was able to experience all of Southern Maryland. Although extremely different than my native land, I found its charm, personality & beauty an easy adjustment. Now, it is fun to have roots on each coast and I call them both home. I have 3 grown children and 10 grandchildren - some east and some west.
Lynda Adams purchased this House in 1985
Why Lynda Adams chose Solomons
I came across the Thomas Johnson Bridge in 1979 and spotted Solomons Island. I was in awe of the view scene and declared, 'I am going to live there someday' and I do. Calvert County is very special. Friendly and beautiful with many things to do and see.
What makes this House unique
The first time I walked through the front door of this home (and every time after), all I saw was WATER in every direction. From the deck I could see the Bay and the Naval Air Station across the River, also the Thomas Johnson Bridge. Lights on the shoreline made me feel a part of somewhere special. I knew that this was the home for me. What makes this little bit of heaven so special is its feeling of serenity and peace, unrivaled by any place I have ever been. I never tire of the beautiful ever changing scenery.

Another great stay
Everything was as expected. This is the perfect place for our family to gather and enjoy the beautiful views this home has to offer. Our two week stay was extremely peaceful. The view of the fireworks were spectacular from the pier. Thank you Lynda for opening your home to vacationers. Hopefully we will back next year!
This house is exactly as presented and more.
We were there for a batchelorette party weekend. It couldn't have been better. This house is so well appointed. We enjoyed morning sunrises and afternoon sunsets on the expansive decks. We brought kayak and paddled around the point. We walked into the quaint town for shopping and lunch. The famous key lime pie at Lotus Cafe did not disappoint. We enjoyed the decks so much we ordered dinner in. Also, the owner Lynda is so gracious.
We will definitely be looking into renting this amazing home again.
I give it a 10+!
The house was great!!
You can't beat the location, my 5 young children hated to leave. Will definitely consider again.
Sometimes as parents and grandparents I think we have to entertain our little ones; but as Mike said in this review the kids didn't want to leave. I think the bottom line is when you've got water and the beach there's not much more kids need and we've got it! Add some crabbing and fishing and maybe a boat and there's not a better vacation
PERFECT!!! Absolutely Best Location and House on Solomon's Island!!! We didn't want to leave!!!
July 31 - August 7, 2016 - THIS HOUSE IS AMAZING!!!! The water views are incredible and the sunsets are breathtaking! The water surrounds this house! Several families (adults and kids ranging in age from 6-16) really enjoyed this house and all its many, many amenities. We all enjoyed sitting on the deck and just listening to the water and watching the boats go by. The kids loved the pocket beaches and all of the amazing things they found from shells to baby horse shoe crabs to minnows swimming by and the visits by the duck families. We crabbed and fished right off the pier, kayaked from the pocket beaches, swam, rented a boat and wave runner(in town) and just relaxed in the water. We even caught enough crabs to have a crab boil dinner for 13 one night. Lynda has equipped the kitchen with everything you will ever need to cook with - she was even so thoughtful to put coffee out for our first pot of coffee in the morning (what a nice touch!). Everything you can imagine is in this house, the view, the comfortable beds, linens, towels, laundry detergent just to name a few. The house is beautifully decorated and immaculate too! Lynda was wonderful through all the communications with her before and during our trip- she is so nice!!! A bunch of us would get up every morning to hear the National Anthem being played across the water at the Patuxent Naval Base while drinking our morning coffee on the spacious decks. And we all enjoyed watching and hearing the fighter jets, helicopters and divers doing maneuvers from the naval base. Wow - it was pretty awesome! There are several side trips we got to take too - The Calvert Marine Museum with Lighthouse tour and a boat ride were enjoyed by us all. (the boat ride goes right past the house). The Patuxent Naval Air Museum was neat too - you got to be up and close to real fighter planes. We went to Calvert Cliffs with a beautiful hike through the woods to get to the Cliffs and fossil hunting (1.8 miles each way but it was worth it). I even found a large fossilized shark tooth there. Solomon's has plenty of good restaurants, some shops and even a Tiki bar all within walking distance! This is by far one of the best vacations that we have taken in a while and we highly recommend this wonderful vacation rental!
Yes, there is nothing like the excitement of pulling up the crab pots to see you have an abundant harvest! The ultimate pleasure is sitting at the big picnic table in the cool of the late afternoon, with folks you love and enjoy picking and savoring your catch!
Sandy Point Haven offers many, many options for your vacation. But most of all, a peaceful, restful and beautiful spot for your vacation. You won't be disappointed.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME - TRULY
July 17-31, 2016 - We knew what we were walking into because of all of the reviews BUT was surprised to find so much more. Lynda, your home is lovely and beautifully decorated with all the amenities of a five star resort. So many personal touches, your beautiful family photos and your watercolors. The water views were spectacular ~ sunrises ~ sunsets ~ the jets taking off ~ the helicopter training maneuvers, kayakers, sailboat training and the ducks. Our little ones so enjoyed fishing off the pier and catching a variety of fish. The deck breezes were felt all throughout the day. So relaxing. Very spacious house. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, elegant dishes, felt like we were eating out at restaurants. Thank you for opening your home and allowing our family to make precious memories we will cherish forever.
Yes, a vacation here is a "memory maker"! This is a statement we hear so often, and are extremely happy to be able to share with guests.
There is much to do and see in the area, but as you found out...no need to travel anywhere else! It is indeed a special location and place to relax and enjoy!
Like Living on a Houseboat
We loved our week-long stay at Lynda's home on Solomon's Island! As soon as we walked into the house, there was a collective "OMG, it's so beautiful here. " We hung out on the private pocket beach for hours every day, it was really hot during our week, and we had a small boat with us which kept everyone entertained and well fed. My brother-in-law and niece and nephew went fishing everyday and caught croakers which were delicious. We really enjoyed the fact that Solomon's Island is not really touristy which is just our style. We all took a day trip to Annapolis and took the trolley tour which worked our perfectly. Had a true Maryland crab experience at Captain Smith's Seafood Market. Lynda was responsive to my questions and very pleasant.
