About Brad&Darci Reichardt
The Reichardts live in Missouri and try to visit Roatan as often as they can.
Brad&Darci Reichardt purchased this House in 2013
Why Brad&Darci Reichardt chose Roatán Municipality
We first visited the island of Roatan in December of 2012. Our good friends bought their home on the island 8 years ago and wanted us to come for a visit. Finally we broke down and guess what? We instantly fell in love. As we sat across from this home for two weeks. We had the opportunity to go and look at it and could not deny the absolutely breathtaking view. It's everything we could ever want. So we came home and the rest is history. No regrets! It's absolutely awesome! Adventure of our lives!
What makes this House unique
Some unique benefits to this property are of course the views and privacy, but also the location is very easy to get to.

An Absolute Gem
My daughter and I had an incredible two week vacation. We never ran out of fun things to see and do. Even spending the entire day at the house was a treat, swimming and snorkeling directly from the house or reading a book in the hammock.
We typically cooked at the house but had a few memorable meals from the private restaurant next door and Miss Haiti across the road.
We felt safe the entire trip, Lindy Rivers and Demsey Rivers were especially helpful with anything we needed.
We look forward to going back, this was a trip that left use wanting more. With about 100 dive sites left to explore, we will be back!
Thank you for sharing your lovely and comfortable home.
Great home with all the amenities
Brad and Darci's home is well equipped with all the amenities you would need: washer and dryer, spacious kitchen and living room, balcony, bath towels and beach towels, and two kayaks! Lindy was super-helpful when he met us at the airport and when we stopped at Eldon's Supermarket on the way to the house. Demsy next door (hardware store) was also friendly and helpful. There's a fruit/veg wagon boy that goes by every day, and there's a little store up the road for other food provisions. It was nice to buy local, and the local residents are friendly, happy and helpful.
The street-side bedroom needs light-blocking drapes -- a street light randomly turned on and off throughout the night. We were disappointed that there was no beach to speak of; beach walks were not possible. Access to the coral reef for snorkeling was very challenging directly opposite the house, but way more accessible from the wooden dock to the left (looking out to sea). Local kids play in the water here every day on and by the dock, and they enjoyed trying out my snorkel, mask, and flippers! They were all sweet and friendly, despite the language barrier.
We had a great time at The Jolly Octopus, Sandy Beach area. It's a beach bar and restaurant with super-friendly staff -- Kevin, Jason, and Shitaki. We ate lunch on their deck, then enjoyed the loungers on the beach before swimming out to the coral reef for more snorkeling. Other places worth visiting: West Bay, West End, and the Monkey & Sloth hang-out in French Cay.
The island itself shows many signs of poverty, such as poor housing, sick and stray dogs, and potholed roads. (The potholes negate the need for any speed-bumps!) Also, garbage is everywhere, not just along the shorelines, but piled up in trash bags on every corner of the streets.
Sand flies were a huge problem for us; we didn't see any sand flies, but the four of us suffered from multiple itchy bites on arms, legs, and torso. My husband had an allergic reaction and had swollen feet and ankles, alleviated somewhat by Benadryl and hydrocortizone cream. The effects of these bites lasted several days after our return home.
We enjoyed this comfortable home equipped with everything we needed in a beautiful setting with fast access to the West Bay and West End dive areas. Each morning greeted us with new splendors on the placid waterfront - and daily visits from a very talkative grackle, a lovely heron, and some busy hummingbirds. The snorkling was also a treat even though we spent most of our time scuba diving elsewhere. Dempsey and Lindy provided fabulous support and we simply had no worries about anything. Hope to return soon!!
A true gem!
This property was everything we expected and much more. The house has all the amenities you could need and is well laid out to take full advantage of the wonderful trade winds. The upstairs deck is the perfect place to start the morning with a cup of coffee and catch the sun rises. The lower deck area is a comfortable place to hang out and barbecue or to take a break from snorkeling or diving and it still gets the same breezes as the upper deck.
If you are looking for the typical tourist shops, bars and restaurants, West end, West bay or Sandy bay are just a short ride to the other side of the island. There are also two good restaurants and other local food choices within walking distance of the house that I highly recommend you explore.
If you are lucky enough to rent this beautiful property, I would suggest getting to know the Rivers family across the street. The entire family went out of their way to make sure our stay was incredible. They were able to provide us with home delivery of fresh shrimp, lobster and fish, personalized tours of the island and even cooked local cuisine for us one night. Just another one of the many treasures of Roatan!
Paradise in Roatan
I highly suggest this property for a small group visiting the Island. The home is right on a private beach with walls on both sides if you need privacy. You can step right into the water using a concrete boat slip. Breezes on the ocean side most of the day. The interior is so beautiful & well equipped with what ever you may need. Both bathrooms even had all the "necessities" of life. Darci had Lindy pick us up at the airport the day of arrival. We used him through out our trip & so enjoyed his company & learning about early life on the island. We would love to stay longer on our next trip. Yes we all want to return. Thank you Darci & Brad!!!!!!!
Birthday Celebration In Paradise!
We waited all year for this trip and it was everything we were hoping for! Everyone was extremely friendly from the moment we were picked up at the airport. The house was beautiful and perfect to wake up every morning and watch the sunrise! We had several fun days of snorkeling, horseback riding on the beach, tour of the island by Lindy and a fabulous dinner by the neighbor for my birthday. On the other days, we just enjoyed relaxing at the house with the beautiful views. The hammocks were a great place to kick back and read! We never even needed the A/C with the breeze coming off the water!
