Relaxing, beautiful location
Beautiful house, very clean. We enjoyed the ample outdoor seating and large, deep pool. Location was great, we bought most groceries in Playa del Coco at Auto Mercado, but also frequented the Luperon at the entrance to the community as well as the great restaurant with friendly service also near the community entrance. It’s a steep walk back up but we did that a few times. The iguanas that climbed up and down the tree by the pool were fascinating to watch, and listening to the geckos laugh at us in the evening was fun. Saw several types of birds-hummingbirds, a mot mot, white throated magpie, and others. Also saw lots of howler monkeys by the beach in Playa Hermosa and sometimes could hear them up at the house.
Does not get much better....
Wow, the description and pictures on VRBO do not do the property any justice. The views are incredible, the Villa is all that it is advertised to be and more. Our group of eight , four couples all had enough space and each bedroom with its own master bath gave you all the privacy needed. The views and sunsets from the infinity pool are beyond explanation, a must see. The gated community on the mountain side was more than safe ,so much so that the doors where not even locked at night while all where sleeping. The area has all types of resteraunts from fine dinning to small mom and pop places and trust my recommedation you should try a different one each night, you will not be dissapointed. Can't wait to go back.... Dan & June ...... Kitchener , Canada
Beautiful hillside villa and pool - very spacious for 8
This is a beautiful hillside villa in a gated complex overlooking the sea. The villa is in good condition and felt spacious for our two families of four (4 adults and 4 kids aged 8-10). The villa and pool were bigger than they looked in the photos - probably because the high ceilings make it look smaller. The property agent David and manager Leslie were very helpful and responsive. I think they should email a Q&A package to renters - I’m sure all prospective guests ask the same questions. We reported two small issues (a shower piece that broke and a noisy pool pump) in the evening and they were fixed the next morning. Machu who looked after the pool and took the garbage out every morning was also a good source of information. Marta the maid who came every other day was friendly but doesn’t speak English.
I recommend renting a four wheel drive car - the drive up the hill to the villa is steep, and some excursions include driving on unpaved roads. You can measure distances from Super Luperon Playa Hermosa, a small supermarket which is very close. There’s also a good high-end supermarket in Playas Del Coco. Here’s what our week looked like -
Sunday - pool and beach (6 minutes drive to free parking at Hotel Bosque Del Mar, or 10-12 minute walk on a more direct route).
Monday - rafting with RCR rafting and De Cortes waterfall (both 1 hour away and 1/2 hour between the two)
Tuesday - beginner horse riding at La Montana riding club (15 minutes away)
Wednesday - zip lining at Witch’s Rock Canopy tours (30 minutes away)
Thursday - Rincon de la Vieja volcano Las Plaides 2 mile walking loop (1 1/4 hours away)
Friday - surfing with Mojo Surf Adventures (1 1/4 hours away, our kids’ favorite activity)
Also don’t miss Ginger restaurant - great pan-Asian tapas a short walk from the villa, and the only place we found in Costa Rica which brought the food at New York-speed.
Beautiful property. Gorgeous infinity pool with great view.
We all loved this villa. The pool was our oasis, and the state of the art kitchen and grill area made cooking most nights a pleasure. Each bedroom had its own well-appointed private bath, and all had views/patios/balconies. (Could have used a lamp/table on both sides of the beds - some had just one.) The weather was great, we dined outside at one of the two big tables in the evenings. No bugs to speak of. Close enough to day-trip excursions (waterfall, eco park, volcano, golf course) to be convenient. We have stayed in numerous upscale villas throughout the Caribbean, and this Costa Rica villa was probably the best appointed - great pool, nice furnishings inside and out, well stocked kitchen.
Amazing getaway for friends!
8 of us (4 couples) stayed at Villa Cocobolo, and we had an amazing time! Such a convenient location - short walk to the grocery store, beach, and restaurants, which we frequently visited. The view is something else - the pictures don't do it justice. We also had a great experience working with Leslie and his team; everyone was so friendly and helpful. 7 days wasn't long enough - we would definitely stay here again!
Excellent house, location and view! My family had a first class experience.
