About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Nestled at the foot of Taos Mountain off the Valdez Rim Road, Stella Luna, our 1500 square foot, two bedroom, two bath home sits on a quiet lane. It's just 15 mins from the slopes of Taos Ski Valley, 15 mins from the Town of Taos & Taos Plaza, and 5 mins from the charming village of Arroyo Seco. Extraordinary views in all directions, high ceilings throughout, large windows, and a floor plan that offers both open space and privacy come together to create a home that graciously welcomes you back after a day of skiing, sightseeing, or shopping. In fact, if you're like us, you might never want to leave Stella Luna at all!

Our lovely home offers a spacious, master suite with a King bed, attached office/nursery, TV/DVD, a Jacuzzi bath, and walk-in closet & dressing area. The second bedroom, conveniently separated from the master by the common living space, comes with a queen bed & double futon, TV/DVD, and an amazing view of Taos Mtn. While the house can comfortably sleep four adults, it can easily accommodate two more on the sleeper sofa in the living room.

A cozy fire in the kiva fireplace will warm your bones while you dine or relax in the comfortable living area. Being travelers, cooks, and foodies ourselves, Stella Luna provides you with a well-equipped kitchen and a home tastefully decorated with furnishings, art and objects from near and far. A selection of movies, books, and games will help you unwind from your life in the real world. To soothe those aching limbs and enjoy our spectacular New Mexico skies, there's a hot tub on the back deck; from the SW facing portal you get views of the Truchas, El Pedernal (a leitmotif of Georgia O'Keeffe), sunsets, and the neighbor’s grazing cows.

We love children and they're welcome at Stella Luna. We'll work with you to provide you the amenities you need.

About Sanjay Poovadan

In 1979 as a new immigrant to the US , I came out to NM to attend St. John’s College in Santa Fe. Plato and Aristotle, Aeschylus and Shakespeare, Kant, Baudelaire, Einstein, and Dante brought me to NM. But it was this land itself, with its stark, bright light, dramatic landscape, rich culture and the many friendships I made here that kept me coming back.

After a 13-year career working for a number of SF Bay Area retail companies (The Nature Company/Discovery Channel Stores, The North Face, Illuminations, Restoration Hardware, etc.), in operations, human resources and real estate/construction, including managing several multi-store roll outs, I followed the woman I love to northern NM in 2002, to set down roots, invest in real estate and to make Taos home.

Here in Taos I have enjoyed becoming a part of a community that is diverse, creative and serious. There is nothing like involvement in the life and institutions of a community to build relationships and to make sense of how it all works. My own interests and those of my step children have been my guide: I became a part of the Taos Soccer Coalition, a couple of Acequias in the Taos Valley, the Friends of Anansi Charter School, the Board of the Taos Ski Team and Intermezzo of the Santa Fe Opera. In addition I served for six years on the Board of Visitors and Governors of St. John’s College which has campuses in both Santa Fe, NM and Annapolis, MD. Today I serve on the boards of the Taos Land Trust and of the Quail Roost Foundation. I believe in the long term value of real estate in northern NM.

Sanjay Poovadan purchased this house in 2004

Why Sanjay Poovadan chose Arroyo Seco

This is a home in the country, with breathtaking views, quiet, proximity to Arroyo Seco Village and Taos Ski Valley

What makes this house unique

Magnificent views--the bright and piercing morning light off the back of Taos Mountain greet each day; the last rays of sun set over the Rio Grande with El Pedernal as a back drop. All this is on a quiet dead-end lane in Arroyo Seco.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We hope that our home has been restful and relaxing. We hope that you have enjoyed it enough to return to Taos soon. Please take a few minutes to tell us and other potential visitors about your stay with us. Once again, many thanks for visiting.

Fantastic Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Arroyo Seco area of Taos and Ski Valley during November when the Aspens were in full color (yellow-gold). Our stay at Stella Luna was exceptional. The owner, Sanjay really knows how to provide all the comforts of home in this vacation rental. There is a 360 degree view of the entire valley and the stars are spectacular at nite because of the romote location.

We heard the sounds of the coyotes during the night and were able to take a scenic drive during the day to the top of the mountain at Ski Valley )only a 15 minute drive from the house. Tim's Stray Dog Cantina

is a great place to have lunch and eat outdoors on the deck to appreciate the view of the mountains.

After hiking and sightseeing, we returned to our vacation home and were able to enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi and take in the views! We relaxed by the Kiva fireplace and had plenty of firewood to stoke the fire

all night. We enjoyed the great selection of DVD's and an excellent bottle of Australian Cabernet Savignon compliments of the owner, Sanjay!

Can't wait to book my next trip to Stella Luna!

Perfect for two couples

  • 5 of 5

With two bedroom suites and comfortable common area, Stella Luna was again at top of my list for a visit to Taos with friends. Just a short distance from downtown, but also easy access to ski areas and other sights. Gorgeous views, stunning night time skies, total quiet.

House is very comfortable and cozy. Location between Taos and TSV is a great middle ground between town and the mountains. We would recommend.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted with beautiful fresh flowers and even an abundance of fruit, wine, local salsa, organic milk, etc. The home was beautiful and very nice for our family of 5. Although we were aware of no A/C in advance, it was a little tough for us Texans to sleep at night in July. I feel the price was high for the location.

If you like quiet, Stellaluna is a perfect spot from which to see Taos and surrounding area

  • 4 of 5

Sanjay the owner was in touch as needed, the property was a bit tricky to locate as there was no street number out front, but we did find it.

Comfortably furnished, well stocked kitchen with welcoming fruit bowl, a bottle of wine, and basic dairy items.

We. Would definitely stay here again.
