About the property

4 Bdrm, 4 Bath Ocean View Home - Walking Distance To Beach

Port O’Call is a charming and quiet oasis in the middle of several thousands of acres of conservation land within walking distance of the beach. Madequecham is on the southeastern end of the island, facing the Atlantic Ocean, where visitors may experience breathtaking sunsets and starry skies.

We purchased this 1600 sq/ft “upside down” house in the fall of 2013 and are now undertaking an extensive renovation to add the amenities that will truly make it the perfect island get away. Port O’Call is located on a quiet street, and is three quarters of a mile on a sandy dirt road from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Madequecham beach. The sandy dirt roads that wind through the conservation land around the house are ideal for bike riding, running and walking. The bike path to Siasconset is easily accessible and you are only a few minutes by car to Nantucket Town.

Port O’Call has been newly renovated this year. It now has beautiful south and west facing decks to maximize views of the water and the beautiful sunsets, a cathedral ceiling with a gourmet kitchen including high end appliances, a beautiful quartzite island countertop and custom cabinetry, all new windows and doors, a gas fire-place, a wrap around porch downstairs with access through French doors from the bedrooms, all new expanded bathrooms, totally redesigned downstairs living to open the house to more natural light and to expand the entry way. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms, which are outfitted with plush towels and high-end linens. The house has central air conditioning and is equipped with satellite television and WiFi Internet. We have also stocked the house with several board games for “off-line” entertainment. The kitchen contains all standard cooking equipment, and includes a Nespresso maker for coffee lovers. For sunny Nantucket days, a barbeque and newly purchased deck furniture provide a comfortable environment to unwind outside.

About Elizabeth Gagne

We have been coming to Nantucket with our family for many years. Every time we come we discover another unique aspect of the island that we enjoy. From the abundant natural beauty to the shopping and wonderful restaurants there is truly something for everyone. We are thrilled to have fulfilled our dream of owning a home on the island and are looking forward to adding our own touches to the property.

Elizabeth Gagne purchased this house in 2013

Why Elizabeth Gagne chose Madequecham

We bought this property for the location. Madequecham beach is the most beautiful beach we have ever seen and it is a secret known only by the local islanders. Our family loves to bike especially off the beaten path and the property is surrounded by abundant bike paths with beautiful vistas of the water. We also enjoy relaxing in the upstairs living space while enjoying beautiful water views along with spectacular sunsets.

What makes this house unique

The property is a great locations for those that enjoy being within walking distance of the beach but not too far from town. The house is conveniently located within 10 minutes of town or Sciasconset. Though it is a short drive from the airport, the privacy and quiet serenity of Port O'Call is protected by the surrounding conservation land.

Perfect family vacation !

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect family vacation at Port O'Call ! The house was beautifully furnished and well-appointed. We loved the setup of an "upside down" house and the open layout of the home. Everything was impeccably maintained. Our young kids loved biking in the neighborhood and playing in the great yard. The beach is a short distance from the house and very private. We found this part of the island to be very untouched and serene.

We would highly recommend this home for a family vacation or getaway ! The owners were a pleasure to work with and very responsive. Thank you !!!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this home was the perfect way to end our summer! We absolutely loved this house - it is beautifully furnished with a great yard and was so comfortable for our family. This was our first time staying in this part of the island and just loved it....there is a long dirt road and great paths to explore that take you to the beach or all the way to Tom Nevers! We brought our bikes which was so fun for the kids to have in this neighborhood. The house is only 1 mile to the bike path and 5 miles to the center of Sconset. The owner was so nice and extremely helpful and very responsive. The house had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again! Thank you!!!!

We are located in the middle of thousands of acres of conservation land with lots of sandy dirt roads that are perfect for running, walking and biking. We are 3/4 of a mile from Madequecham beach which is about a 10 minute walk down a sandy dirt road. Downtown Nantucket is a 10 minute drive where there is shopping and restaurants galore. Stop & Shop is also about 10 minutes away and Bartlett farm, a favorite local spot for farm fresh vegetables, prepared foods and fresh baked goods is a 10-15 minute drive. Access to the bike path is a mile from the house, a fun loop on the bike path is to go down Milestone Rd to Sciasconset where there is the lovely Cliff Walk and then continue on the bike path down Polpis Rd. and back to Milestone. The whole trip is about 7 miles.
