Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom. 2 Bath. Sleeps 7-9

Our house is clean, cozy, comfortable and is filled with quirky, upcycled and repurposed furnishings (except of course for the 'new appliances' and 'new bedding'). We wanted a vacation home that was 'FUN' and something that is different from your usual everyday schedule. Many items in the house are repurposed or handcrafted. Our dining table is actually a solid wood door rescued from a torn down girls dorm at a local community college. My very talented husband and co-DIYer, Rickey, built the table and I painted. The dining bench was crafted by him and I re-vamped the chairs. The 'sleeping porch' is actually enclosed and consists of 3 twin beds with a view of the lake and is stocked with many board games, card games and a bubble-gum machine, a great place for kids to hang out. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to prepare a quick meal if you decide to eat in. The large den has plenty of seating for tv or for playing games with the family. Master bedroom and bath has some antique furnishing along with a 'vintage' barn door resurrected into a headboard and a collection of old alarm clocks (all set on 5:00 of course). The second bedroom has shabby chic furnishings with old window shutters transformed into a headboard. The hall is lined with a collection of 'rock and roll' albums and one wall of 45 speed records... that will bring back memories of fun days past. If you would love to RELAX and UNPLUG for a couple of days or for the week, please make plans to stay and MAKE SOME MEMORIES.

About Stanice Gray

My husband and I have always loved being on the lake. We are currently working now and look forward to be able to retire to the lake. We have a blended family of 4 children. One daughter/son-n-law, two grandboys, two sons living with us and one son waiting on us in heaven. We all spend as much time as we can at the lake in the summer and even during the winter months it is still nice to come and 'unplug' for a while. The grandboys love to come and have a 'battleship game' tournament, throw rocks and fish while they are here.

Stanice Gray purchased this house in 2012

Why Stanice Gray chose Guntersville Lake

Our dream was to one day buy a vacation home on the lake and after several years of looking and looking, we finally found the perfect vacation home for our family. Our dream came true. It is only 45 minutes from our home now. So it is close enough to stay the weekend and be back to work by Monday. We love having our family and friends to come and enjoy it with us. We ARE making lots of priceless memories each and every time we are here. Our children bring their kids and friends to the lake house, which we LOVE! We have large family cookouts, get togethers and even community picnics. Now we would like to shall all the fun and excitement we have experienced.

What makes this house unique

We decided with this vacation home first and foremost would be a 'fun' place to stay and it would be comfortable! Our house is filled with lots of up-cycled, repurposed, resurrected and handcrafted items. We didn't want anything from big box stores, that's what makes our house unique!

Loved it!

If you can't have a good time in this house, something's wrong! The thoughtful decor immediately puts you on "lake time". The house is clean and comfortable. There is plenty of room to spread out, but honestly we spent most of our time on the dreamy back porch. Perfect for mealtime or watching the game! The dock area was a little too shallow for getting boats in and out, but perfect for drinking coffee in the a.m. and watching the lake wildlife. There are several good boat launches minutes away. The neighbors are friendly and White Dog was a fan favorite! Booking was easy with Stanice and she was helpful and quick to respond to my emails. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer! Wonderful experience!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the sweet words! We want everyone to feel as comfortable at the lake as you are at your own home. The back porch is a great place to eat and have fun doing it. Yes, sometimes the water gets shallow but that is due to TVA controlling the water levels of the lake You guys are always welcome to come back and visit. Thanks again for the great review.

The property is beautiful and very well kept. We really enjoyed the view and the porch.

We would definitely rent this property again. The location of the bedrooms was ideal for privacy and the kids felt they had their own space. The yellow dog was very sweet but there was another, larger, dirty dog that kept showing up as well. We could have done without that, but it didn't affect our visit much. We enjoyed s'mores in the back yard and had so much fun playing games in the lovely, big backyard. We would certainly recommend this home .

We made some really great memories!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. The back porch was most enjoyable, rain or shine, especially the TV and the saddle bar stools! The back yard was great for the boys to play baseball and their beds were close to their parents room. The master bedroom and bath were very nicely remodeled. The decorating was great throughout the entire house especially the record collection and signs..."If you are lucky enough to be at the lake, you are lucky enough." The boat dock was especially appreciated even though the boat launch wasn't very far away. Cathedral Cavern's was a nice sight seeing adventure not far away and the boys especially enjoyed the sandy beach that I found at a park, which included ice cream afterwards.

Thank you Stanice and Rickey for sharing your lovely home with us. We really did make some great memories.

Lake Guntersville is known for its unbelievable bass fishing and the Bass Masters Tournament in Feb.2014. Fishermen love the area and Ladies love the shopping. With the world famous Unclaimed Baggage 10 minutes away and many antique/junktique shops close at hand. Wal-Mart only 13 minutes away in Scottsboro. Guntersville or Scottsboro, lots of fantastic restaurants. Lake Guntersville State Park only 35 minutes away, offering restaurant, golfing, hiking trails and wildlife. But if you are looking for some family time or just some time to relax and unwind then this is your vacation destination. Two words that best describe our lake house is unique and comfortable.
